How much do you drink?
2009-09-05, 10:54 PM #41
i drink very sporadically. some times i will go a month without a drink other times, (like last night) i will have 5 or 6 beers and several shots and get stupid faced. the most alcohol i have consumed in a relatively short time was when we went on tour in Texas, i drank enough beer to gain 12 pounds in a week and a half... yikes.

To do that you'd need to drink about 200 pints of lager and do nothing to burn any calories whatsoever.

Also not eat. :P
nope.

Yeah, well, I've had two cousins molested, one killed, one aunt assaulted, one uncle has died of cirrhosis in liver, two others are in the early stages of cirrhosis, all as a direct result of alcohol intoxication. Not a fan.

I used to drink alot. Ironically I stopped drinking as much after I joined the navy. (well it was before that actually, but I still think it's kinda funny)

But I used to drink about fifth (750 ml) of Captain Morgan's (mixed with coke) nearly every night of the week. (I picked up a bottle on the way home from work, usually.) I was on a first name basis with the clerks at the liquer store. On the nights I didn't do that, I would typically pick up a tall boy and drink it driving home from work (don't look, JLee), then spend the remainder of the night drinking beer or whatever else I had around the house. Then Thursday nights we went to the bar (it was karaoke night. I never sang, but I would drink rum and cokes and play pool. I got pretty good at pool :D). Then on the weekends I'd either not drink or I'd drink more heavily, depending on my mood.

I blame it mostly on the cheap prices of alcohol in Idaho and on being mildly depressed because my life kinda sucked and I was pretty broke. I decided to cut back on my drinking for two reasons. First, I woke up on a Sunday morning about 7:30am rolled over and looked at the clock and my very first thought was "Man I could go for some rum right now." It kinda scared me. Then I started paying attention to the cost and realized it was really freakin expensive for me to drink so much (even with alcohol being so cheap in Idaho). So I ended up cutting back, which was really not difficult at all. I still drink at times, but I no longer get the urge to drink every night like I used to. And most times even if I do drink, it's not more than a couple beers or mixed drinks.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

yeah we had a beer sponsor on the trip St. arnold

so i ended up drinking at least 10 st. arnold "spring bock"'s each day. and since we spent most of everyday driving the only time i really burned any calories was when we were playing shows.

but yeah, im sure not all the weight was from booze.

Why would you mix Maker's Mark with Coca Cola? It's not the best bourbon, but it's good enough (and pricey enough) to drink on its own. It's like getting a marble statue from a well-respected albeit slightly overrated sculptor and then deciding to touch it up with Crayola markers. Or getting a well-cooked sirloin steak (it's no strip steak, but it's pretty good) and covering it with A-1. I doubt you would even notice the difference if you got well bourbon mixed with coke.

That's awesome. They're arguably the best brewery in Texas, and certainly the best that ships bottles statewide.

I'M NOT ****ED UP ENOUGH!

I'm on my...3rd beer. However, sunburn + lots of swimming are making me quite sleepy. Thank God no work tomorrow.

I drink really inconsistently. I enjoy it, though, and do it responsibly.

At least as responsible as an underage drinker can be :saddowns:

I drink slowly. 1-2 Beers per hour. So if the party lasts 5-6 hours, anywhere from 8-12 beers in a night. I don't like getting drunk.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I drink it on its own as well, but I much prefer it with Coca Cola. I don't get out as much as I used to, so it's not very expensive when you're only drinking it once or twice a month. That's actually a very common way to take Maker's Mark at Maker's Lounge where I usually go drinking. I do have to say that you do notice a difference between drinking Jim Beam, whose distilleries are in my home town & Maker's Mark, even when it's with Coca Cola. As a matter of fact, the only time that I drink cola is when I'm drinking it with bourbon. I find that Mint Julep's are quite nice with Maker's as well, but that's a bit tacky when it's not around Derby time.

appropriate?

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think about all the workers in the vineyards and all their hopes and dream. If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, ' It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver'" ~Jack Handy

I used to drink only mixed drinks but lately (the last few months) I've stuck to shots. I enjoy them a lot more now and figure it must be more worth it to do a shot if you're drinking to get drunk anyways :D

Yea, I'm in the USA. I'm 20 and can't legally drink unless it's during communion. I don't really understand why the laws are set at 21, but what can I do?

(When I was being bad) I used to drink a few before work. A few during work. And a ****load after work. Oh, add drug use to those times too. But that was a really bad time for me, and I ended up in jail.

(now) I still drink a lot, but only because it takes a lot for me to get buzzed. But I don't get ****faced. And I quit the drugs too.
