Holy crapicus majorus. The 2027 Project seems to utilize this really well.

Funny how there's only a one year gap between the Sith engine and Unreal Engine 1 and the latter's still going strong.

sith was a steaming pile of barely functional ****...

while unreal was a much better engine

Oh, how I know that...

I guess with updates like this I can just get back to Deus Ex editing (if only to just finish those damn projects I was part of) instead of waiting for Deus Ex Reborn to be finished. Even though the latter would still be better.

Unreal has a renderer plugin system. JK has pits full of human feces covered punji sticks.

Is this like the 38th time you declared that you will get back to Unreal editing?

Wow, that's cool. I might have to play through Deus Ex again.
woot!
2009-09-20, 11:03 AM #7
Yes, Echoman. Very yes! :gonk:
(Read: After I'm done with TODOA)

JLee, you better wait until Deus Ex HDTP (read: modern overhaul of models and textures) will be released. And I guess this New Vision will come in handy then (maybe even now) as well.

And then there will be deusgasming.

if i'm readin correct this "modern overhaul" is using 256x256 for the skins

that's not all that "modern" or "HD"

also they haven't had any new news since 2006 so i think it's a dead project

Didn't realize how outdated that site was... but anyhow, 1024x1024 textures are now possible (at least on most situations... I need to check that New Vision project if what I remember was correct) and oh no it's not dead ... I've got some insider info. :awesomelon:

Ah yes, at least these models have 512x512 and 1024x1024 textures.

And I know what you're trying to make me post, Tracer, but you GET NOTHING. GOOD DAY, SIR!

People say Black Mesa isn't dead too.

Yeah, I don't think either the Deus Ex model upgrade or texture upgrade are ever getting finished. It's too bad - I don't mind the outdated models so much, but the blurry textures are an eyesore.

When nothing ever gets released, I consider it dead, or atleast DNF.
2009-09-20, 11:47 AM #16
...the last update was 1 day ago.

By that reasoning, any mod is "dead".

Black Mesa Official Trailer released!
Posted on 30 Nov 2008 by cman2k

Do they just not update their site?
2009-09-20, 11:53 AM #18
Check side column. Under "Recent Updates."

This whole argument is stupid. Not to mention recreating the whole game is a huge undertaking.

A youtube video showing pre beta testing?
Oh joy, surely this mod this mod will come out soon.
I'm not holding out much faith for a team too lazy to update their homepage.
Rather they use... twitter.
2009-09-20, 11:58 AM #20
What? Did the mod team came to your house and ruined your birthday party or something?

Well, I was really watching this closely for a while, followed by disappointment after disappointment.

I just have no faith in mods.

I wouldn't say high, I would say "Give me something to work with here, an alpha level, a beta, a 3 level demo, anything".
-end derail-
2009-09-20, 12:11 PM #24
Because it doesn't take work or anything to make mods.

You're being ridiculous.

Oh that's fine, I know time and effort are involved. All im asking is that they release something to play with every once and while. Not alot, Maybe release that test level from that video, or a snippet of the first level, or a concept demo for the garg.
Anything I can actually play.
2009-09-20, 12:29 PM #26
This seems relevant (see image).

(I don't mean to pick on you, Tibby - well, at least, outside of this instance - but cool down - it's a game modification. There are far more important things in life).

I know, Like I said im not asking for that much.
Updating the site more then once a year would be a good start.

Haha, I tried this on UT and got about 20fps and I was all WTF??? until I realized that I probably don't have a DX10 video card.

PS does anyone besides me have original unreal tournament?

Only on Steam.

And I realized the same thing with DX... man if my GPU just hadn't fried up last month. :argh:

Wow check out how sucky editor I was in 2005-2007.

That's awesome. I played through Deus Ex (for the first time to completion) earlier this year, but I did just buy UT off Steam for 2 bucks... not even sure why, I have the Unreal pack on D2D....

The first song was from some other DX project, the "Hong Kong Compound" sequence has custom songs that were going to be used in either UB or my own DX project (Nihilum), the Hong Kong Streets have appropriate Hong Kong titled music from Hitman 2 (Hong Kong Themes to be exact) and the end of the video has the UNATCO Born Theme itself.

I guess the only part in that video I really like is the hotel... I actually liked working on it so it's just a shame that... well, you know.

And yet, even back then unreal had better floor reflections then Source.
2009-09-21, 1:42 PM #39
What screenshots are you looking at? sure those are 'reflections' but I wouldnt call them better.

Well, I was looking in the video.
And I mean how they actually reflect, go play a source game and you'll notice how the floor "Reflections" Aren't reflections at all.
