Source can not only reflect, but distort as well. Thus, it is significantly better all around. No floor is a mirror shine.

What I'm trying to say is, go play HL2 and look at the reflections on the shiny train station floor, they don't line up with what they reflect and seem to act just like another texture.

Reflection / refraction? They probably also use environment maps to do the reflections.

Actually I don't. Was editing DX just too much crap? I used to mess around with it, the maps had a lot of stuff in them. All the text files and whatnot.

Hm? No, editing Deus Ex was gorgeous* (and apparently now you can make the game look like that as well) but it's a grand shame my DX projects (well, I'm only one in the UB team but still) didn't get finished. Let's see what the situation's gonna be post-TODOA.

(Dunno if DX10 rendering magically enables env-maps though. That would be pretty cool, tho')

* = I still hope they'd fix UED 2 for DX since UED1 the VB crap pile is... well, a VB crap pile
