Any one want to go to the beach next year?
2009-10-23, 8:55 AM #1
Hey all, well this is a strange thread I must admit. I'll try to make it brief. Two weeks ago I went to Mazatlan Sinaloa, a famous Mexican beach. Next year around April I plan to go again, only this time with a bigger group. I plan to get around 120 people. Currently I cannot confirm prices, as the hotel has not confirmed prices to me, but I can give you an estimate: For a group of 4 people it will be around 200-250 dollars each, for 5 days, 4 nights, at a hotel on the beach at the golden zone (one of the best if not the best zone to stay at) and round trip bus fair from Torreon, Coahuila to Mazatlan. Perhaps you can get you're group of 4 people, or if you're interested I can probably put you in a group of people who haven't found a 4th member.

The hard part, in which I cannot help you, is getting to Torreon Coahuila. This can be achieved by bus or by plane, conveniently there is an airport at this city, not far from my house or the central bus station.

You won't have to pay a dime until you get here, so don't worry about getting scammed, however I will say that giving 50% in advance around January would be a good gesture of confidence.

Now then, you may wonder, why am I telling you this now, and not in January? Well, 120 people is a lot, and I have observed that a lot of people just can't get the money for a trip, even though this is a pretty good deal, when they have little time left. There are a lot of expenses in December and January that people have to go through, so I'm telling them to save up.

The hotel that you would be staying, will probably be the Balboa Towers Club, I also will be staying with you at the same hotel, so if you have any complaints, direct it to me, and I'll direct it to the hotel manager. I am also including a T-Shirt that will say "I went to Mazatlan and you didn't!" and if you send me your pictures and video taking, in addition to the general pictures and video I will be taking, I will composite for you a special DVD gift of memories.

If you are interested in going to Mazatlan next year in the spring break, just tell me through here, and we'll be able to coordinate. Like I said, for the moment you don't have to pay anything. I encourage you, if you are interested, to notify me and adopt a wait and see tactic. I will inform you of all the details as they arrive. I am negotiating with Balboa Towers club and the bus line to get cheaper prices. The price may very well go under 200 dollars. So, any questions, make em here.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Why? Why do you want 120 people to go to the beach with you? A group of 120 people most of whom will not know each other, consisting of your Mexican friends, American (or Canadian or European) nerds and friends of said nerds.

I'm obviously charging a modest finders fee... besides, the fact that everyone will get a discount for traveling with a big group like this. You'll pay save more money by going with us, than charting you're own trip.

Trust me, at Mazatlan there's enough babes that you won't have to bring any, but when you leave you won't be allowed to take em back either.

Oh I'm not trying to get rich on this, I'm trying to just get enough money repaint my car, get the brakes fixed and the interior. No, this is not a scam of any sort. I will have all confirmed details in the coming weeks. All I'm offering is lower bus prices and lower hotel rates, as well as some souvenirs.

Should have realized it was some demented plan. You'll make better money bussing people out of Mexico than bussing internet nerds into Mexico.

I am selling it to people here, and it's got good results but I wanted to see if any Massassi members were interested.

A-ha. I see why you want 50% up front.

[Annendum]There is something beautiful about the way your mind works. Most people who want a bit of extra money take on a part time job. You however, decide to play travel agent in the hopes that you can cut a deal for group rates with the hotel and bus company. It's brilliant, I've never heard anything like it. Bizarre and absurd, perhaps and there's potential to have a lot of people very angry with you, but it's definitely novel.

Fair enough, I never expected anyone to take me serious in the first place. I'll of course post pictures of this venture, and will have another venture for June and another in July (the prices change significantly in these two months).

I really don't see what's so far fetched about this, other than you wanting to pound on something because you have nothing better to do. People travel all the time. I went to Mazatlan two-three weeks ago, pics are in the camhoez thread, so it means I know what I am talking about. I'm getting good hotel and bus rates, if you want to come, you are welcome to join. If you're worried about the finder's fee, its less than 7 dollars for **** sakes.

Damn, such a simple, realistic thing, and nobody here can offer constructive criticism, suggestions or show interest.

Attempts to organize a Massassi event have always failed. This one however, has an even smaller chance of happening because:

(a) you're hosting (you are arguably the least effective person at rallying -ians to your causes)
(b) Mexico
(c) you openly admit you want money for your car; whether or not you're actually trying to scam anyone or not, you must admit it would seem suspicious.

Nice try though, dude.

(a) Yes I am aware of this.
(b) What? You're telling me you're afraid of MEXICANS? I thought everyone was so superior in every way to MEXICANS and could walk over them any moment. Mazatlan is a touristic zone, in vacation time there's more Americans there on the beach than any one else.
(c) Yeah I have to fix my car. But I'm not going to scam anyone out of any money for it. I have never scammed a single person out of their money, not one. I will offer a guarantee when I begin to charge. You will be able to call the hotel and ask about the reservation you're self. I doubt a hotel that's been there for years, if not decades (most of the hotels are actually foreign hotels) is going to scam anyone. There is no way I can scam anyone out of their money, at that point.

Anyhow, I don't expect anyone from here to go this spring break anyway, but to prove my authenticity, two things can be done:
1.-) You can make your own arrangements and meet me there
2.-) I can and will post pictures from this event, showing me and the group that went there.

So, if anyone wants to meet me there, good. I'll finally meet a Massassian face to face, and he can report back to the forums. That's a good enough deal. I mean pictures are good yes, but everyone is skeptical here.

It's more an issue of why are people going to want to travel hundreds of kilometers to visit you.

You're not really visiting me. I'm taking you to Mazatlan, so you can get a cheaper fare, not get taken advantage of (for instance someone charges you 80 dollars for some yacht tour, when I can get it for you around 20-35), and because it's safer to travel in groups. You'll be able to do anything you want over there, and I'll be there to help out in any of your needs.

I won a cruise one time. It sounded really great.

Turns out I had to pay for my plane ticket to florida, I had to pay a 'storage fee' for a key to the closet in the room on the boat... which amounted to roughly the same rate as a room, and I had to pay tax on the whole thing. I declined the offer.

Isn't it weird how these things always seem too good to be true?

I'm afraid that there's simply too much violence in Mexico for me to consider attending. I know that's funny coming from someone that lives in the U.S. because we're the leaders in violent crime but I live in a relatively safe area. I realize that it's statistically improbable for my wife & & to be murdered on a vacation resort, but I won't even visit Chicago for the same reason, so Mexico might as well be Iraq as far as I'm concerned.

Chicago isn't that scary. I am so tired of bringing up Chicago only to have people shudder and whisper "black people." Not that this is what you were implying, I just think people are pussies.

Other than you're playing travel agent, something you have little to no experience with and the tourist infrastructure should more than able to handle.

Are you? Because I don't see why any decent hotel would need help booking on spring break. Also, two words Americans never want to hear in the same sentence are "Mexican" and "bus." I assume the bus picks them up from the airport, which requires them to still pay for airfare, and requires them to make sure that they get in at time for the bus. What if the only flight they can get comes in a day earlier? What are you going to do when you're there? Take them on guided tours? Act as 24/7 concierge service? That's pretty selfless for $7 a head. Or are they just supposed to drop your name to get the discount on the yacht tour?

Some of the worst gangs in Chicago are hispanic or latino. I don't think that I'd be afraid of any black people in Chicago unless they were carrying around large pieces of wood.

On a side note, while gangs & their "culture" absolutely disgust me, I stayed in Chicago for a month as a boy, have traveled there several time for work, have a close friend that's from there (he's Puerto Rican & not in a gang), love the architecture, museums & restaurants & I'll be going back soon to visit the French Consulate.

I'm sure that Mexico is a beautiful place as well. I think that my wife has a close friend that lives somewhere in Mexico (assuming he/she hasn't been murdered yet) & we'll probably be visiting there on our way to Argentina (to visit another of her friends as well) when we get the opportunity.

I'm really just poking fun at Gold like everyone else. :)
