Sorry Vin. I feel for ya, but it just aint fair. And all you guys saying "I need one to give to a friend." This is a Massassi giveaway, not a "Greenboy's friend giveaway" (for example).

Well here's how I treat it. It doesnt bother me when anyone says "My friend/relative could use one." They could have kept quiet and not given out that info. People could be selling them , nothing I can do about that. Ignorance is bliss and the less I know the happier I am.

Vin is getting alot of support but unless I missed it, Vin has not posted for himself. So I can't really count that at this point. Maybe he's not interested for some reason.

No, it's usually because he doesn't see the thread before it's too late. He's always wanted one.

I'll send my vote to Vinny. Dude got his computer stolen, and this would be a nice erase button. I think it's fair to let vinny have multiple votes considering anyone else could claim they were taking it and send it to him anyway.

[Also, has anyone ever told you that when you do this it's really cool?]

It's completely fair

1. It's my property if I win, I can do with it what I wish. How dare you try and tell me what I do with my computer once I receive it.

2. In terms of the selection, of course it's fair. How can you say it's not? Let's say Me, mb, Cool Matty, and JediKirby all say we are gonna give our computer to Vinny. If we are 100% truthful in doing it, what's the difference in entering for ourselves and then giving to vinny, or just giving the votes to him. There's absolutely no difference. In either case our names our synonymous with Vinny's.

And EAH_Triscuit holy **** I never saw that Yoshi was selling that computer. He's got quite the remarkable record, lol. Glad to see I wasn't the only one getting taken advantage of.

Well, he wasn't exactly taking advantage. He got the computer fairly and sold it. I just don't think it's very much in the spirit of free computers for massassi. I don't need another PC filling up space, but almost anyone here could use an extra 150 bucks - Except EAH_TRISCUIT I guess.

Shipping to Canada is crazy expensive. Last time I tried, I had to pay nearly $100 and then the recipient had to pay some $60 fee as well (Yes, I declared it a gift). The whole experience soured me on sending anything to Canada- the reason behind Rule #2.

I'm not angry- DJ Yoshi can throw his name in for a fair chance at these computers as well. Any Charity organization would probably sell them.

why is a 64 bit computer called x64 but 32 bit is x86?

You almost never make sense.

If person X enters the drawing but didn't really want a computer, just wanted Vin to get one, that's bad for everyone else in the contest who does want a computer.

If my odds were 1 in n before this person entered, they are now 1 in n+1. Conceivably the number of people in Massassi who would like Vin to get a computer is larger than the number of Massassians who actually want a computer for themselves.

My odds are 1 in [(the number of people who want to keep a computer)+(the number of people who do not want a computer but want Vin to get a computer)]. It's the second variable that I, and anyone else who wants a computer, would reasonably be concerned about. Because if the rules prohibited entering for others (which I am by no means proposing), my odds would be substantially better.

What im saying is it makes no difference if someone enters for themself, or vin.
If person A enters for himself, thats 1 more against you.
If A enters for Vin, that's still just 1 more against you, but it's also 1 more for vin.

all it means is vin's odds get better while yours stays proportional to the number of people entered.

as it stands now every entry has a 1:34 chance, with vin having a 5:34 chance.

woo I'm late. I moved recently and (as you all seem to know!) I do not have a computer. Shortly after last Christmas, someone broke into my house and took my sweet gaming rig. :(

I actually don't even have a computer. The one I usually post from is my parents - it can barely play TF2. Now that I'm moved, the only computer I've got is my roommate's laptop, and it's even worse and full of crap.

Thanks sooo much for everyone trying to help me. *feels loved*

Since I'm auto-disqualified on the account of living in CE anyway, I support the notion of sending one to Vin. By the way, it's a nice thing you're doing. :)

I'm very interested in that first Athlon system. Gaming at 1920x1080 isn't very easy with my cruddy system, and running Crysis' Sandbox editor, Photoshop and 3ds Max at the same time for the sake of editing takes it's toll. It's hard making pretty things without the resources to power it >.>

Too bad I live in Canada, eh? >.<

Guess you can give my "slot" to Vin...

Thanks, it's cool...mine was rendered inoperable due to multiple hardware failures when my family moved and I currently have nothing but a laptop from 2005 with a battery so dead I can't unplug it and a disk drive that is no longer capable of reading DVD movies all the way through, if at all, and being a laptop from 2005, it certainly doesn't run any games.

What was wrong with everyone getting a fair and equal chance to benefit from his generosity? I understand if people are friends with Vin and want to enter for themselves to give it to Vin if they win, but for you to jump in and TELL him to give away HIS stuff to YOUR friend seems a bit presumptuous and underhanded, doesn't it?

Leave it to Massassi to turn a guy giving away free computers out of his own kindness into a big argument and popularity contest.

I'm talking about the administrator of the website making (well-meaning) demands for his friend. I specifically stated that if people want to give their entry to Vin, then that's great, that's a nice thing to do for a friend.

Tib, sometimes I wonder.... can you read, or do you kind of fade in and out as your eyes scan for pictures? It just seems like you pick out a couple words that you recognize and then fill in the gaps on your own and respond in a manner you think people will like you for. I only say this because I really don't appreciate being patronized. I'm sure you understand, now.
