Steam Sale (New Items 11/30!)
2009-11-29, 9:03 AM #41
I was hoping the last day, the sale would go out with a bang. I'm not interested in any of today's deals either.

Oh well, can't really complain, I'm happy with Ghostbusters and Far Cry 2! :)

Bah, I should've followed this thread more often, I would've nabbed Borderlands for the sale price :(

I just beat Ghostbusters. The game is fantastic all the way through.

I would've gotten FarCry for 10 bucks, but my dad went to best buy, so I went with him and picked it up for 5 bucks.

Ah, so the 5 day sale was actually a 6 day sale, but but first 1 day sale actually lasted 2 days. Confusing.

Still not anything in this last round I'm interested in.

Is mirror's edge worth 5 bucks?

Evil genius won't run on my computer.

And Mirror's Edge is definitely worth 5 bucks.

Mirror's Edge is definitely worth $5. The only downside to the game was how short it was, kinda like Portal. At that price it's great.

the curse of having an older PC

if SMI:SE would actually run on an AthlonXP i'd be all over it
mirror's edge is likely unplayable on my PC... but i'll never know since they never released a damn demo

i'll probably pick up evil genius

It runs on the Unreal 3 engine, so if you can't run Unreal Tournament 3 very well you can't run Mirror's Edge.

What happens?

What's your specs?

I already got the THQ pack, which came with some games that I cannot get to work for the life of me. While DoW and Titan's quest work grand, I hate the fact that I own games I cannot play for no discernible reason.
2009-11-30, 9:39 AM #56
I just bought Mirror's Edge and it's not showing up on my Steam list. :argh: ****ing slow internet on this campus!
DO NOT WANT.
2009-11-30, 9:41 AM #57
I bought Mirror's Edge, too. Here's hopin' I can run it ok.

i can run UT3 ok on mediumish settings but that's no indication of how mirror's edge will run... it's possible it could run better and it's very possible it could slideshow on me

Oh, now I remember. I tried to make it widescreen, and its crashed ever since. Haven't bothered to fix that. It did run at first though.

They had to do that, because EA was selling the boxed PC version for $39.99, may still be doing so.

I can play it on my Macbook, with a 9400M integrated graphics chip. It's not exactly the most stressful game at lower settings.

Oh man, Evil Genius! I love that game. I wish they'd make a sequel.

Poor choice, you don't even need to buy it at all, you can just download it free off their own site.
2009-11-30, 11:12 PM #67
Yeah, I can't figure out why steam sells it.

Also: Mirrors Edge is way underrated.

Yea, but don't you need to pay a one time fee of 19.99 for a new account that comes with a free month of play from their website?
2009-12-01, 3:47 AM #69
On the one hand, I feel a little disappointed with the sale. While it's a great idea, I only picked up Batman and Republic Commando on the first day and Mirror's Edge on the last. Nothing else interested me (and I only bought Mirror's Edge because the price was so low and at that cost, why not?). I was sort of expecting each day to match the first.

On the other hand, however, my wallet is glad that it didn't.

Yeah it was excellent, but the development studio got into trouble and then went down the tubes when they were making the sequel. :(

nope.

Well, I got both EG and ME; for 7 and change, can't feel that bad if I don't enjoy them.

Not that I was aware of. I was able to get a new account with a 14 day trial without paying anything.

Mirrior's Edge ran much worse than UT3 for me.

KotoR for $2.50 (never played it before) was money well spent.

I'm pretty sure it works like this.

Download it for free (which I also did off Steam first) and get a free 14 day trial account.

In order to continue after that, you have to pay a 19.99 one time fee for a normal account, which includes a month of play time (after which it's 14.99 a month).

When I bought it off Steam, it included a free month.

So I think it's the same thing.
