Oblivion can't have DRM. If it did, you'd never get it running. The game is buggy and crashy enough as it is.
2010-01-09, 2:02 PM #42
I spent hours getting all my mods working, but now that I have it's not crashing at all.
Load order available on request.

Lee, you have to tell it what aspect ratio you want before you can pick the resolution.
My girlfriend paid a lot of money for that tv; I want to watch ALL OF IT. - JM

I *never* had any issues with it being buggy or crashy. Was your problems OS specific?
2010-01-09, 5:01 PM #45
Yeah Oblivion has never crashed on any of the 4 machines I've ran it on, using Vista, XP, 2000, and 7. And I've logged countless hours on each of those machines with that game.

the funny part is all these ea games get hacked and pirated within 3 days anyway so their protections dont do anything but hurt honest gamers
2010-01-09, 5:25 PM #47
Well they also annoy dishonest gamers.

Oblivion was horribly buggy and crashy to the point of being unplayable, for me. But then again, I did have it running with about 40-50 mods. It wasn't fun otherwise. :(
DO NOT WANT.
2010-01-09, 5:31 PM #49
You have to set them up right.
With mods set up right, or vanilla, the game is rock-solid. Don't blame Oblivion for your crappy mods.
I'll say it again, my load-order is available to anyone that wants it.
2010-01-09, 5:33 PM #50
I only ran Oblivion with Francesco's mod.

They weren't crappy mods. They were the 'hall of fame' mods from planet elder scrolls, and I refused to download anything with a user score of less than 9.

Next time don't be such an assumptive little dick.
DO NOT WANT.
2010-01-09, 5:46 PM #52
So what's your load order?
2010-01-09, 5:50 PM #53
Load order is important if you use lots of them, not to mention the fact that some mods are just flat out incompatible.

damned if i know, haven't touched the game in more than a year.
DO NOT WANT.
2010-01-09, 7:31 PM #55
Well load order is very important.
2010-01-09, 8:05 PM #56
It isn't if you can't even run one mod without it crashing. Both Oblivion and Morrowind would crash like crazy on every PC I've ever had. And yet Fallout 3 has no such issues, it's crashed maybe once.

On the topic of oblivions non-DRM.
It's the greatest thing.

1680x1050 is not 1080P.
woot!

What an unusual screen resolution.

16:10 is unusual?
woot!

Jon`C really must be out of the loop O.o

That's a very usual PC resolution. In fact, an unusual resolution for a monitor is actually something like 1920x1080 (16:9). It's far less common that 1920x1200 (16:10). I think it's starting to pick up more now though (my monitor being 16:9 :D)

It's the other way around when it comes to TVs, obviously.

Anyway, he's probably just joking. If not, well.. whatever. :)

'Resolution' and 'aspect ratio' are different ideas with different names.

Normal screen resolutions are whole number multiples of 320x240, 400x300, 384x240 or 480x300.

Edit: and 1024x768

I'm quite familiar with the concept, thank you.

1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1440x900, etc are common. It's not like I'm running some weird oddball resolution (like 1280x800).
woot!

nope.

It's not a normal desktop resolution -- not that I've seen, anyway. I don't recall seeing it anywhere except laptops, and they seem to be trending towards 1360x768 lately.

Then it's an issue with your system, because it's not Mass Effect. I can screenshot it where it says 1680x1050 :P

I think he figured it out
2010-01-10, 9:21 AM #70
Oh right, he did. Fail JLee for not scrolling, fail me for not reading :P
