How tall are you?
2010-01-15, 9:52 AM #1
Just thought it would be fun to see how tall the average Massassian is. I feel like if we break it into 2 inch brackets it'll be the most practical. Feel free to post your actual height in your post.

And I'm 6'2"

Last I checked I was 5'11", but for all I know I'm pushing 6" now.

Also, 137 lbs.
nope.

I never thought the bell curve would be weighted so heavily around the 6'1"-6'2" area. Is there a correlation between tall people and computer games? Haha.

Well, there isn't necessarily a correlation between height and length.

Why does this poll exclude every other inch? It would be like having a TV guide that went like 8-9 PM, 10-11 PM, etc.

the second number is inclusive. so in your guide the 8-9 slot would be 2hrs long.

I don't know, but I am built like a stick, and I don't seem to be able to gain weight. At this point in my life, though, I'm just glad it means I don't have a gut. (Also, I win the "Guess Your Weight" games every time!)

probably tall people being nerds. :p

I think you're visualizing it wrong. He just put discrete inch measurements into groups of two.

I'm in a similar situation (6' and weith 220lbs). People usually are surprised that I'm above 200.

Precisely. It just condensed the poll options so we didn't have twice as many. Also, if it were any more specific you wouldn't really get very good poll results as they would be far more scattered due to not having a very large sample size.

I see what you did but I would have used the same number of options but been more inclusive by putting it like this

under 5'4"
5'4" - 5'6"
5'6" - 5'8"
5'8" - 5'10"
etc.

As long as everybody gets it it doesn't matter but right now I would have to assume that people falling between your options may be estimating themselves taller artificially inflating some categories. Now, I'm sure someone would nitpick mine and say that one height exists in two different options but I think most people would infer the meaning I intend.

Don't worry Gebohq, it'll catch up to you eventually. I hit 6'7" when I was 16 years old and I was 155 at that time too. Now 10 years later I'm holding steady at 210.

Yeah, but most people know their heights in inch increments. Under your system everyone whose height is an even number of inches above 5'4" would be confused as to where to put their height, as it would fall exactly on the dividing line.

Also, WHY AM I ALL ALONE?

I hit 6'6" (it's actually slightly above but I prefer to be shorter) and was 145lbs when I was 16 too. I'm 26 now. Yeah. Maybe when I hit 30? Honestly, unless the weight is distributed evenly (i.e. not just a gut), I'm thankful enough.
