I typically use Chrome.
Use FF to browse one site in particular that is loaded with crap, and a member wrote a custom script to clean it up. For some reason, when using the forum, it causes the pages to go blank with Chrome.

So if I open the internet with the intention of going to that site, I'll open and continue to use FF. If I'm opening the internet doing anything else, it'll be Chrome.

I do a little chrome too, but all my plugins are in firefox.

Firefox. IE takes forever to load these days. I blame all my mum's spyware and anti virus crap (and stuff like roboform) slowing it down, even though I have no proof. *shakes fist*

I use Firefox at home. I really wanted to like Chrome, but couldn't. Don't have a problem with IE like a lot of people.

At work, I use all sorts of browsers, as it's part of my job to test in various browsers. It's mostly IE7 and FF3 though.

Switched to Chrome since it got extensions. I'll try Firefox again when it gets a multi-process design and improves JS performance (still poor in tight loops e.g. games, canvas).

I'll switch back to chrome when it gets an adblocker that doesn't run its performance into the ground, slower than firefox. .(

Works awesomely on OS X though.

AdTwart is working fine for me CM. Seems to be the most popular one.

Adblock is much better and faster than Adthwart, and it's still slower than Firefox with Adblock Plus on my PC.

It's the opposite on OS X though.

WHERE IS IE6???
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Firefox. I tried using chrome, but I pretty much hate the interface. And no, I won't just "get used to it" like everyone suggests I do.

I find IE slow no matter where I use it. My computer, my friend's, the uni machines... it always take forever to load for me. Even when other people say that the actual copy I'm using is fine for them. Makes no sense, probably isn't provable, but I hate using it because of that.

I use chrome, and firefox if anything funky happens

I used to use Chrome at home before it crashed horribly. My wife uses Firefox. At work, though, I use IE 6 (!!!).

I use Firefox almost exclusively. I used to be a huge fan of Opera but their lack of extensions for even simple things like reliable ad blocking really hampers the experience. I recently spent a week on Chrome and while in general it was fine, there was one glaring issue that I couldn't get over: The complete lack of ability to manage plugins (like flash, adobe reader, etc.). I hate when PDF files load "in" my browser, I'd rather they download and then open in my Reader app. There's no easy way to get rid of this behavior (you have to delete the .dll plugin, which deletes it for everyone using the box, or get a hacky 3rd-party extension .bat file not even published on the offical chrome extensions site). People at google are saying this will be fixed at some point, but from the bug reports, it's been over a year and nothing yet.

Chrome is cool because it's fast -- the interface is faster than firefox for sure. But not worth it for me in the end.

I use Safari primarily (on my Mac), Firefox on my laptop & Chrome on my server. I like all of them but I prefer Safari. I don't really care about extensions & things like that because I prefer using Dashboard for that stuff.
? :)

I use Chrome because it's blindingly fast. It's also pretty good for web development because console.log still works when the web inspector is closed (as opposed to with Firebug when it breaks your code).

I still use Firefox for when I need to download things, primarily because Speed Downloader doesn't work with Chrome yet.

I've used way more Chrome since this thread. The extensions make it worth it.

I just installed Chrome on my Macbook. I was having issues with it earlier just making my fan run crazy, but now it is not! And it is super fast!

Is there a better way to manage multiple logins and passwords with Firefox? I find myself not using it for that sole reason, and using opera instead.

Also, as far as speed I was quite impressed with IE 64 bit. It really made a large notable difference. Too bad most websites don't support it though, an security wise I don't know that I'd feel comfortable with it either, it does fly though.

Wow I just got this new prescription from some "Placebo" company, it works great!

Incidentally unless you're opening > 2gb web pages you are unlikely to notice any difference.

That's funny, it did for me. Maybe your not running enough memory?
2010-02-20, 8:22 AM #35
No, you don't get what I am saying: 64-bit applications are not inherently faster than 32-bit applications for most things. Including browsing the internet. There is literally nothing in the IE code base that could possibly benefit from being 64-bit. Any drastic improvements were due to your imagination.

Hm. Maybe so but I was under the impression that 64 bit applications better utilized the management of memory in relation to the application, thus increasing performance?

I guess it could have been just me, but things seems to be much snappier compared to regular IE.
2010-02-20, 8:45 AM #37
Wow, Chrome has really picked up some steam since its release. I've used it since someone first showed me a mac version (and i tend not to use extensions). It's snappy.

It's probably snappier because half of the plugins don't work in 64-bit.
