Explain Your Username

I was pondering what on earth some of your usernames mean. I'll get the ball rolling; mines a made up insult from Red Dwarf.

"Thankyou for logging in, Goit" never fails to amuse me.

Isn't your name officially Esteban? :P

One day in the chat people were mocking Landfish and changing their names to *whatever*fish. I was eating a bacon sandwich.

Plus it wasn't totally different from Boco which I used after registering an account with "Boko" and then forgot the password. :P
nope.

I don't know how old I was when I started using DJB. I use "Bob" as a generic name for whatever, and will give that as a tongue-in-cheek answer when asked my name (there were a couple people in HS that never realized my name was Mike). The "Dark Jedi" part was just a title I grabbed.

These days, my name is mostly associated with my character's name from The Never-ending Story Thread. The backstory for that is that his parents pulled 6 random Scrabble letters out for his name, and I guess fate would have it that the Ohq lineage remained in his name sake.

However, I originally came up with the name as general internet name to use back when I first got into online gaming and such my sophomore years of high school. My goal was to think of a relatively short, unique name that "looked cool" (as opposed to SuperSayianSithLord006). At the time, I thought numbers that looked like letters was cool, so I played around with a combination until I came up with the following:

G = 6
E = 3
B = 13
O = 0
h = 4 (upside-down)
q = 9

The numbers themselves don't have any particular meaning. In hindsight, I wish I had come up with something more "human" that was easier on the ears/tongue. Still, it's nice to know I'm the only Gebohq on the Internet.

at the time i started using hte internet and started registering for forums and such, i was obsessed with HHGTTG. started registering places under ford-prefect#### (usually 1342. 13 being by birthday and 42, well you know)

when i signed up at massassi i was in a JK clan called Inner Stealth, which went by the prefix IS_ so i was IS_ford1342.

then, a couple years later, i got sick of the IS and numbers and after making 1342 posts on that account i re-regged here as Ford. the rest is history. :P

I've long since changed my username on everything but here, the name here is a derelict of one at that...

KOP = Knights of Pride, a Jedi Knight clan ran by blujay (someone who used to somewhat run this place?)... Good times there.

AoE = Age of Empires, which I claim to be something of a challenge at.

and Jedi...

I think I got it from a random name generator.

I made Alpha_Male when I was like 10 and thought I was a bad *** with the name. Then when I came back to Massassi after it called me back I was like "That's a really lame name"
(I also couldn't remember my password)

I came up with it when playing the JK demo. I wanted something that reflected Star Wars (Chewbacca) and something that reflected my home state of Arkansas (Bubba).

I think we've had one of these threads before. My name was actually not inspired by Batman, but instead I created it thinking more along the lines of a "dark jedi knight". I really have no idea why there are two underscores, I'm not sure if it was a typo or intentional.

Actually, my full name is "Ezequiel Steven Jonathan Valadez", named Ezequiel after my great-great-great .... grandfather who was (supposedly) an important Conquistador sum***** someone or other during the Spanish exploration of North and Central America. On all of my legal documents, though, it simply reads Steven J. Valadez.

I have always been a Star Wars fan and I've been in the military a long time. Back in the mid-nineties when the internet stuff was just starting out I created a username based upon one of the things I really liked about Star Wars, wookiees, and the 06 suffix which represents a Commander in military radio-telephone call signs. Now, even though I was a big Star Wars fan I wouldn't say it ever approached uber-nerd status so I originally didn't catch my mispelling. After I did, I decided to leave it as is (I've been using this username for a long time practically everywhere) because most non-StarWarsNerds know what a wookiee is but assume it is spelled like my username and I was already used to my spelling of it anyway.

So, basically, my username means Wookiee Commander.

I've always gone by names stolen from Star Wars EU... Long ago it was Captain_Tycho, but sometime in early 99 I switched to 'vornskr' because the Zahn trilogy is by far my favorite set of books in the EU. (Also because vornskrs are awesome, and I rather like the string of 5 consonants in a row.)

I suppose that it probably looks like I'm being arrogant with such a name but it's actually more of an ode to Frank Herbert for writing something that got me interested in books. Before I read the "Dune" series, I couldn't tolerate reading. I think that I was probably turned off by being forced to read all of that garbage that's forced upon us in school. I've come to like a lot of that now, but when I was a teenager, it just didn't appeal to me.

My username and story is actually pretty close to wookie06, I of course have always been an avid Star Wars fan and Darth Vader being my utmost favorite character. My first Name is Daniel and when I was in the Army from late 80's/early 90's I was actually dubbed by my fellow comrades as corporal Darth (Its a good thing that Jar Jar didnt come in the picture yet) I was also called Darth Dan too from a previous job that I had.

Someone should go through Massassi's username database to count how many "Darth [insert alias]" there are.
