UPDATE:

Hi everyone, thanks for all the messages of support :P

Things aren't going quite as smoothly as we thought earlier - Freddie's had to go to the special care unit and be put in an incubator as his lungs have got some fluid still in them from the delivery (it wasn't an easy birth: they had to use a ventouse suction cup on his head to help get him out). He's otherwise very healthy, and all this is mainly a precaution. He's getting great care from the nurses there, and Izzy's with him at the hospital tonight getting some well earned sleep (while I was asleep last night he went over to special care).

So it might sound a little scary, but considering he's surrounded by little tiny premature and otherwise very sick babies he sort of looks like a big healthy monster baby who will eat the other ones when the midwife looks away. He's been on a drip (and still is as of 9pm this evening when I left), but if he takes enough milk tomorrow and doesn't throw it up he'll come off the drip which is good.

Just thought I'd keep you all in the loop, seeing as you've been so jolly about it all :)

And now, I will grab some well earned shut-eye. Night all.

Don't worry about it, man. This sort of stuff is not unusual at all.

FURTHER UPDATE:

Freddie is now out of special care, back on the normal maternity ward with Izzy and going great guns. Izzy's getting the knack of feeding pretty quickly, and obviously Freddie's great at it right out of the bat :)

Hopefully all being well with his blood tests which we'll get back tonight we may be able to take him home tomorrow :neckbeard:

I'm home now, and everything's still fine :)

Fingers crossed for his blood results - if all proves well he might be allowed home tomorrow! :D

Also, and I can't believe I'm the first to say this, I want pics of this young mantrain.

Whoops. For some reason the pic on page 1 didn't load up initially.

I've got some more on the camera, but it's in Izzy's bag at the hospital. As soon as I get it home I'm going to make a little website (using an iWeb template cos I is simple like that) and I'll post the link here :)

Glad to read that things are going well -- every little thing that goes "wrong" seems scary when it's your own son (trust me, I know).
2010-03-03, 3:57 PM #64
Thanks Bri, you're right of course, it is scary seeing your boy in an incubator, but the feeling of joy when he comes out is powerful indeed :)
2010-03-03, 4:11 PM #65
I'd love to tell you that it gets easier.....................................
2010-03-04, 9:51 AM #66
Woohoo!

We're all home now! He was formally discharged today at about 3 in the afternoon. He's feeding like an absolute trooper (seriously big burps too) and taken very well to being manhandled by the relatives.

I'm sorting the photos out now - I'll put a selection on facebook, and then finish that little website I started, but I'll throw some up here too for you chaps.
