What do you say to an upgrade?
2004-09-02, 1:22 PM #41
How do you get to them?
2004-09-02, 1:23 PM #42
No, these forums are slow. Trying to delete a post takes ages.... and navigating the user database is such a chore because it takes at least 2 minutes for one search.

Never mind. Found them. Very very wierd places.

If everyone was told how to get to the secret forums, they wouldn't be very secret, now would they? You already know too much!

as long as the look of the forums doesn't change all that much I'm for an upgrade...

hope you can save the "secret" forums, always take a look now and again for a laugh.

Well I think a change wouldn't be too bad - quite honestly, for the bulk of us (those that aren't "Troll Shamens" and "Baninators" [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]) we really aren't going to notice the difference, as the only real effect of "upgrading" is making life easier for the admins... (eg: stickys etc - throw in the odd additional feature like PM-ing for us lowly dregs [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])

But please can we have a limit imposed on anything that is going to seriously slow page-loading times. I'm not suggesting a complete cull of images, but at the moment, I think Massassi's hit a good balance... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] [apologies about the obligatory smilies, just to make a point...] [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] (and I empathise with Outlaw [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]). Just something that's sensible, that's all (and round here, I don't know where we're going to find "sensible", but hey...)

Just my tuppence worth [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Alot of forums have stikies taking up half a page. And most of them pertain to some event that passed years ago. Like for instance we'd still have Hydroball Leage sign up stiky if we had them.
2004-09-02, 1:40 PM #49
you do realize you can unsticky a thread right? forums that have ancient stickys just have stupid/lazy admins

I like avatars [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] Assuming they all meet my criteria of awesomeness of course.

I prefer to have avatars, as long as they're kept small and unoffensive, and the way everyone talks it seems avatars would slow the forums to a crawl when it's only a few extra seconds. Surely things haven't got so bad that people want everything, including their daily dose of Massassi forums, ASAP.

Just my 0.02.

I vote no, the forums are perfect. Plus, isn't Brad supposedly writing new forum software?.. so it'd be a waste of money.

The simple solution to that is to just diallow animated gifs. I hate those things for the most part on forums anyway. They're distracting.

They cut off my legs now I'm an amputee, God damn you.

Funny the first 3 times you see them.

Not so funny after that. They become annoying to me.

Yeah, I say do the upgrade. While it may be fun to poke a joke or two at these aging forum scripts, they really do suck.

...avitars, IF they are smaller than 64x64, and no bigger than 5k. Animated gifs are RIGHT OUT. Pictures of your kids are RIGHT OUT. Bright or distracting colors are RIGHT OUT.. Anything else is good. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Also, if its possible, keep the hex post counts under the names. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Cool forums, but a few bugs. A lot of posts are showing font code :P

Anything new we should know about, aside from the PM system?

avatars/sig images are only funny on uncensored forums

if they were enabled here everyone would have one simply because they could. in fact they'd go looking for one and grab the first one they found.
