Those of you with 360s!

I can't remember the last time I played a 360 game on my 360....but I think Xbox originals work fine...maybe.

Woo! I made the poll 16/16/16

Yes, Psychonauts and Crimson Skies.

I haven't touched my 360 since christmas 2 years ago.
I have played a classic xbox game on it once, but only once, so I voted no.

My wii get's a lot of work out with games both old and new though >_>

Xbox 360 only has one previous generation. The PS3 has two.

Yes, and one of them is still backwards compatible.

With the last generation of consoles, the PS2 was the only one of the 4 that were backwards compatible yet there was never anyone complaining that there wasn't some magic way to play their 15 years worth of Nintendo or Sega games on their Gamecubes and Dreamcasts.

Plus theres the whole thing where if you already have a library of PS2 games there's a good ****ing chance you own a PS2. :carl:
nope.

That argument doesn't really work well though. Backwards compatibility on the original Xbox would've been, well, impossible because there was nothing prior to it. Backwards compatibility on the Gamecube would've required either a cartridge slot (plus the extra hardware for emulation) built into what was designed to be a tiny console, or some sort of a game download service (back in the days when console internet accessibility was still in its infancy), plus extra hardware to emulate and store those games.

Not to mention it's something people weren't really exposed to as much yet, so they didn't really expect it.

I agree. PS2 had Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, and Baldur's Gate...

Halo runs fine on mine, just sucks that it's not widescreen.

1. And that one is rare and expensive.
2. Hrm ... dealing with an extra electronic device. No thanks.

Let me rephrase this .... People are not complaing so much as it's not backward compatible. They are complaining it's not backwards compatible ANYMORE.

Put it in the first generation out ... then remove it. Yea, GREAT idea.

Yeah, that's the bigger issue. Include a useful feature in the console when it's somewhat hard to find and fairly expensive ($500-$600), then strip it out of the newer and cheaper models and completely stop producing the models that did have that feature.

I honestly don't care about the whole issue, personally. I probably will never own a PS3. (If I felt the urge to play any of my PS collection, all PS1 games, I would just play them on the PSone in my parents basement)

Just trying to make a point that it does seem like a legitimate *****able detail.

Let's say I had a PS2, and PS2 games when the PS3 came out. I bought the PS3, and sold the PS2. Because WTF would I need the PS2?
So after the back-wards compatible goes out of production, I get really angry while playing Soul Calibur and throw a brick at the PS3 and it breaks.

Bye bye being able to the PS2 collection on the new PS3 I get.

Yeah, see if that scenario actually happens that's not sony's fault, it's your fault because youre a dip****.
nope.

Well say it malfunctioned then. The disc drive broke.

Sorry if I suck at coming up with fake scenarios.

Which is exactly what happened with my PS2. It struggles to read discs and only reads them properly when the planets are properly aligned.

I don't even play 360 games on my 360 anymore. So Über-no. :(

Have you tried opening the case up and fiddling with the laser? PS2s tend to gather dust on the laser so every so often you might have to open it and attack it with a can of compressed air. Theres a little gear inside that can change the focus height of it too to solve all the disc read errors.
nope.

I took it apart this evening and apparently just cleaning out the dust was enough. Was going to realign the laser but I decided to test it just after cleaning out the dust, and it's working fine now.

Still doesn't give me nice wireless controllers or upscaling, but it'll do for now, haha.
