Cause I just bought this and I'll mess you up if you do!

I wasn't planning on.

Junkies broke into my flat once whilst I was in and I didn't even know about it. I slept with a knife duct taped to a broom handle for the next month.

:awesome:
nope.

Baconfish, I'm now selling this and buying a stick and a knife thanks to your story.
Life is beautiful.
2010-04-13, 5:35 PM #5
That's no good without tape!
nope.
2010-04-13, 5:43 PM #6
Curses! Oh well, surely I'll have enough money left over for duct tape when I sell the gun and buy the stick and knife.
Life is beautiful.
2010-04-13, 5:55 PM #7
Can you buy a stick, knife and tape for 78¢?
nope.

You know, it isn't until the last few days that this sig of mine has given people so much material to work with. 2 or 3 years with it and it finally turns out useful!
Life is beautiful.

A shotgun is the ideal home defense weapon. Mossberg makes a good shotgun. I know that's not an actual image of your shotgun, but you most likely got the 8-round 12ga. variant. It's great to have lots of ammo at the ready, but the trade-off is in size - it's longer and often difficult to maneuver. Couple that with a 1911 or a Springfield XD, or a Sig Sauer/SIGARMS (if you can afford it) in .40 and you're good. A taclite would not be a idea either.
2010-04-14, 11:38 AM #13
It's not as ideal as a shotgun, but it's quite a bit better than the all-to-cliche baseball bat that people usually keep by their bed.

I keep this leaning against my fish tank within arms reach as I sleep. Yes, it's a genuine cutting/stabbing tool (not a display piece) and yes, I keep it razor ****ing sharp.

Now you need to make sure to say "I'm gladius dropped by!" as you stab them.

Yeah, its obviously just a jpeg I got off the intranets, but its the same model. Mossberg 500 Persuader. 7+1 round capacity (6+1 if you use 3" shells like I do). I also have a Smith & Wesson M&P40 .40 cal. And a big freaking knife. So, I'm pretty set on the home defense thing now. :)

If you ever get a chance, pick up a Springfield M6 Scout. They are bad little rifles. Top barrel is in .22LR (or Hornet). Bottom is in .410. It folds up for storage. Ammo storage in the stock. It's the perfect little survival weapon. They stopped making them years ago, so your best bet is gun shows or the used rack at your local shop.

I have a guitar.

I'll be fine in the event of a zombie apocalypse, but I'm not too sure about criminals.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I've been wanting to get one of these for a long time. Unfortunately they sell for roughly $500 IF you can find them.

I opted for the cheaper route: Mossberg 500A 18.5" barrel, 7+1 capacity.

We use Mossberg 500's in the Navy. Reliable, easy to use, and easy to clean. Can't complain.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Perhaps. My GC is always ready to rock and roll you know. To this day, that game doesn't get the credit it deserves. Easily on the top 10 all time list.

I found mine at a Crossroads of the West gunshow for $180. Just gotta keep looking.

I really want a Ruger SP101 in .327 Fed, but they are hard to find. I would also like to start an AR10 (AR308, whatever) build this year.

I can't help but laugh at all the precautions some of you are taken. Most people don't even get a break in in their lifetime, let alone one by an armed robber. Most canadians don't even have guns and we're not in any more danger than any of you.

Just seems like an excuse to own a gun. Oh, that and, "its our god given right" pro-gun bull****

I'm w/ you on that. Besides, guns take the fun out of beating someone to death. Murder isn't nearly as enjoyable if it's not personal.
? :)

My house has been broken into 3 times - once when I wasn't home, but my mom and little brother (7 at the time) were. They hid in the closet.

In other words, shut the **** up.

Not that owning a gun is a necessity, but your argument is essentially the same "it'll never happen to me!" mentality that pretty much everyone knows is a bad idea. "oh I NEED health insurance because what if I get cancer? Oh but a violent attack will never happen to me."

summary: whatever.

No offense but think about it?

You werent there. Even if you owned a gun, it wouldn't change squat.

Unless your mother or little brother went to get it, in which case they would have likely caused the intruder to feel threatened and do something bad. Most intruders will likely not intend to or cause physical harm unless cornered, threated or if they are some sort of killer (obviously rarer occurence).

Like I said, americans didn't invent theft by infraction. It happens in Canada too, and most people don't own guns. And few people are harmed.

Guns, in my opinion, are as likely to put you in a dangerous spot as get you out of one, if not more so.

Thats not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is that having 4 loaded guns in case of a break in is retarded. Or going out of your way to buy some big ass gun.

Like I said in the above post, guns are as likely to put you in danger than get you out of it.
