No Caucasians voted for Obama I guess, maybe just the young ones. Definitely not white males. Oh no. Nor Asians, Native Americans, Arabs, Indians... Let's hope they can rally that unifying group that describes all Americans to keep Harry Reid in office. :neckbeard:

Obama asks the people who helped elect him, to help continue to vote for his party?
Gasp.

I was completely okay with this until he "reminded" us all that it was a class war.

The groups that are mentioned in the video had the largest increases in voter turnout in the history of national elections. White males will always have large turnouts, it's not worth mentioning when they continue to do so.

Does that number represent all 57 states?

Wookie was probably banking on someone asking that.

LOL, that's :awesome:. I guess I can forgive Tibby for being Canadian. Well, I don't forgive him for being Canadian but I mean for not knowing because he is Canadian. A simple google search for "57 states" will answer the question. I'm always surprised when someone, and by "someone" I mean Tibby, asks for clarification rather than just do a simple search.

My guess is Tibby thought he had Wookie trapped, when he was doing exactly what Wookie wanted him to.

There might be a trope for this.

People should know by now that when I throw out something even exceedingly ridiculous for me, that it can be attributed to someone else. Obama "clean and articulate black man": Joe Biden. "57 States": Obama. Terrorist attacks are "man-made disasters": Department of Health and Human Services.

Oh, and I think I made a mistake. The tally is 58 or 59 depending on whether Alaska "and" Hawaii were neglected or just one of them. So, my original comment with regard to the number on the race car is totally inappropriate. I apologize for the oversight.

Biden obviously wouldn't be able to pass a citizenship test, which makes him a perfect vice president for Obama, since he's not a US citizen anyway.... lawl!

Yep. Antony's not exactly wrong though; it's usually a Magnificent ******* that pulls a Batman Gambit.

Emphasis on "usually" because you don't have to be that magnificent to know that someone on Massassi will ask, "Why 57 states?"

Yeah, because, like, that was just part of the strategery. I also stand by every single time I defended a Bush "made up word".

there are many others

Also things like "Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease."

Honestly I have no idea what you're arguing, if at all.

Just a note on the reality of what this thread is about: Despite the dramatic increase in black and Hispanic turnout in the 2008 election, black and Hispanic voters are stil represented in the electorate at levels below their share of the population. For black voters it wasn't terribly striking (for once) this time around, at 12.1% of voters compared to 12.4% of the population. Hispanics, however, continue to be badly underrepresented at 7.4% of voters compared to 15.4% of the population.

Encouraging people in these groups to vote is an obviously worthy cause, and it's baffling that anyone can sincerely see Obama's statements as inappropriate.

Demographics of the electorate here, demographics of the population here.

It's all just a bunch of whiny crocodile tears. All the whiners didn't care when RNC chair Michael Steele gave practically the exact same message last year. Steele's message was really only notable for being so corny:

Quote:
Newly elected Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele plans an “off the hook” public relations offensive to attract younger voters, especially blacks and Hispanics, by applying the party's principles to “urban-suburban hip-hop settings.”

The RNC's first black chairman will “surprise everyone” when updating the party's image using the Internet and advertisements on radio, on television and in print, he told The Washington Times.

Not that it's even close to a big deal, but personally what annoyed me is the implication that young people, blacks, latinos, and women had to be encouraged to vote or else the democratic party wouldn't win. The implication, of course, being that they will vote much more strongly in favor of the democratic party. The implication of THAT, then, is that old white males and "their" republican party are the enemy to be defeated. Regardless of the statistical truths these implications may be based on, it's just one more reminder and more fuel to the fire of this divisive attitude of class struggle that seems to be so popular now.

Don't forget, everyone, it's the blacks, latinos, women, and young people against those evil old white guys. Will you be on the winning side? THE WAR CONTINUES TUESDAY TUESDAY TUESDAY.

Except I was only making a humoruous reference to 57 and I do think it is a little unfair to say that was profoundly stupid. He made a mistake when he was tired. Not really a big deal, just like when he talked about about the thousands killed by tornados in Kansas. They're simply mistakes and DO NOT rise to the level of profound stupidity.

And if humor is now considered trolling here, well, I guess you would be the expert there.
