I'm pretty much between these:

Leaning towards the silverish or orange.

It's a shame that you're restricted by the speed limit officer.
nope.

I much prefer the gray/silver (that's the color of my wife's car). I have a Mazda that's red/maroon & while I liked it at first, I grew to hate the color over time.
? :)

Because I am open to suggestions! I suppose I could've done that with an "other" option, though.

Pfft I've been at work all night and should be sleeping. That's my excuse! :neckbeard:

Definitely reddish-orange.

Is the second one supposed to be orange? It looks red more than anything, then again my monitor's color reproduction is shot these days...

I like them both at least the way I see them on my screen, can't go wrong with either but I'm gonna have to disagree with Emon and go with the silver, it looks really cool.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
2010-05-12, 9:06 AM #13
I vote the silver, too. Make sure you tint your windows dark like that, too (cops get to do it even though it's against the law right?).
2010-05-12, 9:19 AM #14
Silver! I like the orange, but I think orange is a more girly color. Go Silver!

What did you do to it? In what measure is it "faster?" I've heard the RX8 is great around any track with curves, outperforming much more powerful cars because of how well it handles.

It depends on whether or not you want it to stand out. I am thinking about colors for my Corvette (which I have years to contemplate), so I did a little test. While I was having lunch one day, I counted the cars going by on the street. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the large majority of cars where black, white, or silver. Those three colors represented somewhere around 75% of the cars that passed by.

[Addendum:
It appears my non-scientific study results were close, but not quite accurate. I blame it on a bad test sample.]

Get this burnt orange color:

Actually, just go buy that car instead.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

If you're going to go orange get a bright orange. If you're going to go yellow, bright, canary yellow. Don't pick a bold color and then dull it out.
2010-05-12, 11:36 AM #21
Here, this is what it will look like in canary yellow......... (if you get it painted by maaco)

It's the least expensive color. That's why most fleet vehicles are white. Also, most of the "One at this price" advertisement cars are white.

I've owned a white Subaru, a white F-350, and a white Jeep Wrangler. All my favorites, I think white cars rule.
2010-05-12, 11:45 AM #26
Also, they can be filthy, not washed in months, and you won't be able to tell until you get right up close.
2010-05-12, 12:06 PM #27
I think white cars look fairly 80s.

Also they look dirty 5 minutes after you wash them. :p
nope.
2010-05-12, 12:07 PM #28
How much are you spending on this paint job? Unless it's a $10k+ full disassemble down to the unibody and repaint from the ground up job you'd have to be CRAZY to do a color change. Keep it black and save a ton of money.

First off, Maaco actually has good paint jobs, if you pay for the good ones. Don't think you're going to spend less than $1500 for a commercial paint job unless you want your car painted with crayons... Yes, they run the 599 specials, but those are for morons, and they bank on morons.

I like the silver JLee. Also agree, RX-8s suck. Not a fan of rotary.

In my experience, dirt on white seems to be much less visible than dirt on black.
2010-05-12, 1:42 PM #37
I think white vehicles look great, but only for trucks/suvs and SOME cars, depending on their styling. For most sports cars, I think white is a waste.

I like a nice burnt orange color, not too dark, but not fast and the furious bright.

Anybody who thinks white cars have issues with showing dirt obviously has absolutely zero experience with white cars or cars in general.

It's pretty common knowledge that white hides dirt better than just about every other color with the possible exception of gray/silver.

I think brown hides dirt the best. DUH. DUH. DUH.

You're right I don't have any personal experience with white cars, because nobody drives the effing things. ITS NOT THE 1980s.
nope.
