The driving was more realistic than San Andreas which I felt came at the expense of the game being fun. I felt that GTA4 took itself too seriously at the expense of what made previous games in the series fun. It's for this reason that I rate Saints Row 2 as a much better game.

Interesting, that's the exact reason why I didn't like Saints Row 2. I guess I like realism in my games.

I honestly didn't like the driving in GTA4... I'm surprised anyone would consider anywhere close to realistic. If my cars handled that way in real life it would get terribly costly.

The driving in GTA4 took a while for me to tap into, but once I did I realized two things: Realistic driving is really satisfying and convincing, and a controller is absolutely necessary for the sensitive acceleration. Tapping the up arrow is almost impossible.

But I will say, the vehicle damage was ridiculous. I also hope in the next game you can tap triangle and use the analog stick to crawl across the car while it's moving, or for sliding across the roof of the car, and to provide more air control when jumping out. It feels only a few tweaks away from re-enacting every scene from Bad Boys 2.

I really want RDR on the PC :(

Try this, next time you play. Why don't you drive around like you would in real life. Speeds of 35mph, passing when it is safe and obeying taffic signals. It will be very easy.

Now why don't you go ahead and drive in real life like you would in GTAIV. I bet the first time you go speeding through a corner you will crash.

Actually, when my mom was visiting over, she tried that on my PC. Her jeep eventually ended up flipping over.

She was slightly upset. :)

Absolutely. GTAIV took everything fun out of the game to have SLIGHTLY better realism, Saints Row 2 kept all the fun stuff and threw more in.
I also think the story telling in Saints Row 2 is much more effective, when a character died in SR2 I cared, when they died in GTAIV I thought "good, one less person to annoy me with phone calls".

That's because when you drive in real life, you probably follow the traffic rules for the most part.

If you have GTA4 on pc there's a variety of mods that attempt to turn GTA4's 'realistic' driving into realistic driving. Some do pretty well but GTA4 made a pretty bad job of things

Meh, it'd probably just end up being another shoddy port with crappy DRM like GTA 4 was. Although San Andreas on PC was :awesome:.

The DRM has since been removed, but your point stands.

San Andreas was also a lot more moddable which was brilliant.
My horse is a Kentucky Saddler, 3 stars, bought it from a store.

Handy saving trick btw: buy two horse deeds, whenever you activate a new deed the game saves. This can be very handy if you've done a non-saving mission and don't have time to travel away from the area and find a suitable camping site.
