It really didn't feel like a 3 1/2 hour movie, I rather enjoyed it, even if I won't be sleeping before finals in 3 hours...

Just got back from seeing it in Pacific Time.

I thought it was a bit too far from the book...I guess I'll wait for another thread to get into the details, don't want to spoil anything yet.

Twas still good.

If somebody wanted a direct copy of the book, they should do it themselves. Peter Jackson set out to make a movie, not a straight rip. I'm overall impressed by the size and scope that Jackson managed to bring to the screen. I've posted my other additional thoughts elsewhere, so I won't repost them here.

*****SPOILERS*****
I thought it was awesome, and I really only have one complaint, and that is the dead people. They just looked too cartoony sweeping over the plain, glowing green and drifting over the ground. I think they should have been solid dead people, which would have looked much better.

Other than that, the rest is sex. When Pipppin is singing as the remaining forces of Gondor charge Osgiliath, I felt like crying. When I first heard about Pippen and Aragorn's big solos, I had my doubts, but they worked perfectly. Another tearjerker was Frodo's dismissal of Sam. To go so far and be told off would crush Sam, and Astin portrayed the character wonderfully.

The action this time around was much more realistic, and there's so much more of it. The attack on Minas Tirith blows Helm's Deep away. There is so much more happening and so much more going wrong, that you can't see how they can possibly win. Much of the movie is just several big battles with hobbit scenes thrown in, and the best moment of action was Eowyn's fight with the Witch King. It was was incredibly awesome, and finally gave her a chance to show her strength.

The ending to the movie is a little big long, and really only clears up hobbit ends, but is still good nonetheless. A 11+ hour movie deserves a long ending, and now that it's over, I'm going to miss it.

I saw it as part of Trilogy Teusday. It was awesome. Seeing all three movies on the big screen at once was awesome too.

***SPOILERS***

The only problem with it that I had was the portrayal of Denethor. First off, he was a bit too evil for my tastes... everyone in the audience cheered when he died. In the book, he wasn't evil, he had just lost all hope after facing Sauron multiple times in the Palantir he kept locked away in the tower at the top of Minas Tirith. The movie didnt even mention the second palantir... Also they changed his death a tad bit.

All in all, it was a great movie, definately deserving of all the praise its been given.

Also, it was my first time seeing the EE of TTT... and I have to say, the Osgiliath Flashback with Boromir and Faramir makes Faramirs actions make a lot more sense.

Denethor says in the movie that he has seen Sauron and his army growing larger and larger, so the second palantir isn't necessary to mention.

it felt like a 3 1/2 hour movie for me because about 30 minutes in i had to pee and DID NOT GET UP UNTIL I SAW "THE END" i was in pain the entire walk from my seat to the restroom...

also we didn't have audio for the first 5 minutes of the movie because of some problem and they should have completely restarted it but didn't

It was extremely cheesy when Frodo recovered at the end, though.

When all the people were laughing I started laughing too because I thought of how funny it would be if Gandalf's head suddenly exploded.

Yeah, when Gandalf was laughing, I was sure that any messages woven throughout the trilogy meant nothing, and suddenly the movie had become an anti-marijuana movie.

"Don't go doin' those drugs or you'll start laughing at everything... even in the face of death!"

I was also pissed off that Smegals voice was exactly the same as Gollums. The transformation felt so uncomplete. He should have been completely sans-quirky to begin with, but instead he was a monster before he was actually a monster.

Also, this is not the movie. I think the real movie exists in the extended editions... Thats for all three of the movies.

Its not 11 hours long.. its 16.

Funnily enough, thats why I never bothered going to see the movies at the theatre. There is no way in all hells that I would be able to sit in a dark, air-conditioned room for over three hours without having to visit the men's room at least twice. Curse my storage deficiencies!

We had people that reminded me of a character in Not Another Teen Movie.. Every once in a while one person would clap briefly, realize that no one else was clapping, and abruptly stop. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

During trilogy teusday people would cheer and shout over little things... And some of the ubergeeks got really pissed off and started shouting at them to stop... This one kid was even shouting, "Shut up guys, I'm trying to listen to the music!!" but then everyone in the theater just lauged at him. I didnt mind the added noise, I mean I know I'm going to see it again multiple times and then get it on DVD, so I dont care if I missed a few lines here and there.

Feel free to mention more cool stuff you noticed!

He... didnt. Smeagol's voice is quiet, calm, and higher pitched. Gollum's is dark, raspy, and low. I loved this entite movie. the end was kinda cheesy with the laughing, but the rest made up for it so much.

Heh... favorite quote, "That still counts as one!"

[edit]and some guy's cell phone rang 3 times. the second time i kinda whispered "turn off the phone" then the third time i just yelled it. It was a slow part in the movie and no one really cared. Some kids at school told me they heard me and they found it funny... so yeah. Made people laugh and got that idiot to turn his phone off. 3 ****ing times... *shakes head*[/edit]
