Whatever happened to just letting someone use a browser, regardless of what it is, because they like it? So Mentat likes Safari, big deal. If it works for him and he can achieve all of his browsing goals, then it works for him.

Just because you only use extensions for checking weather doesn't mean the vast majority of people use them for that.

You're once again making assumptions. I don't use nor need any of those extensions. If you've used Dashboard widgets then you'll know that you can do far more than check the weather. There are dozens of widgets (probably hundreds) that have the same functionality &/or purpose as various browser extensions. I'm not interested in why other people use extensions & never claimed to be. I simply stated that I prefer using widgets.

I think we should all just use wget to fetch pages from our inboxes like Richard Stallman.

I'm surprised you don't already.

That's like saying if he likes driving a Pinto, we should leave him alone. And that since the Pinto hasn't exploded in a fireball for him yet, that it shouldn't be an issue.

Wait, you really just equated a car crash / potential death from a car crash to a an internet browser on a PC? Cars and browsers? Apples and apples?

Oh no, Safari on PC is even worse. I'm equating it to Safari on a Mac.

:P Even if you want to stretch the principle that far, the browser crash (or whatever) will only harm Mentat, not potential passengers/other motorists.

This seems to be an area of further research. I'm going to go try and find statistics on how many people's lives have been taken away or severely affected from slower browsers and/or browser crashes! I'll make sure to post the results here when I find them

Mentat watch out, you could potentially die from browsing this forum

I think that those of us that are old enough to know what a Pinto is should be more worried about dying of old age. :(

Er, the analogy is about not taking action in the face of known consequences, not about the severity of the results.

...how is it possible to not know that?

But the consequences are in no way the same or as dire. As Jules would say "not the same ballpark, not even the same ****ing sport". The analogy fails when in one case failing to take action could mean potential death from being rear ended, and in the other case...um...what would happen? How are we to know AT ALL what the consequence of Mentat using Safari is if we don't know at all what his browsing habits are.

I did know that. It wasn't CM's intention, and you know that just as well.
