How does a person call others losers when said person is trying to be better than others on an internet forum dedicated to an old Star Wars game?

That being said, I think there's nothing wrong with uses an online dating services. It's just one more resource that can be used.

Yeah, pretty much. This site isn't even about Star Wars anymore. The argument Zecks presented is moot anymore; computers and forums aren't for "nerds" anymore. The internet was kind of "exclusive" 15 years ago, but it's not anymore.

Right but, why are online dating sites lame but forums not? They are essentially the same medium.

At the end of the day I don't see how it matters. I know a few people that met through online dating sites, and they couldn't be happier. Why does it matter how they met? In 20 years what do you think is more important to them: being with someone they actually care about or having a cool story about how they met?

I'm not sure who this is directed toward, but I agree with you (mostly). I'd say internet dating/matchmaking is fine, but it still comes in second place to actually meeting a real person, in person. Just like having forum friends is fine and all, but having in person friends is better. Still, nothing wrong with either, as long as there is balance (as with all things).

Well the whole point of online dating is to see if your compatable then meet the person, in person.

Yeah. Some people do the "talk online for 3 months then meet" but I think the intent is to just find people you are probably a reasonable match with and then meet in person. I wouldn't imagine the online part being more than a few days. I suppose it depends on the people but I thought that was the typical use case.

I think internet dating is pretty much doomed, but internet matchmaking is okay. As long as you aren't meeting chicks on chatroulette or stickam.
