NFL Favreball 2010 Thread (Brett Favre Returns)
2010-08-28, 4:00 PM #1
Figure since the preseason is winding down, we should start up the thread this year.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Bears fare with their new roster. Also Brett Favre. Hooray Brett Favre. Go Vikes.

I get to go to the first regular season game in Cleveland to do the pre-game show with the giant American flag on the field.

Then I get to watch the game and eat and drink for free in a VIP booth.

+1 more reason being in the Marines is awesome.

The San Diego Chargers secondary is still Absolutely Atrocious (TM).
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

As a Minnesotan and Viking fan, I personally don't think Air Favre One should have happened. Last season was it. I just don't see it happening now. My gut feeling (along with everyone I've talked to) is he is going to get injured very early in the season (ankle) and that will be that. I would love to see Webb make a name for himself on this team but I just don't think he got enough exposure in the preseason that Childress will let him.

I would love to believe Favre will take the Vikings to the playoffs again and possibly the Super Bowl, but I think we all saw how human he is in the playoffs last season and he is obviously not getting any younger. If it goes as far or further this year, then well, I think it will be a ****ing miracle. I will be sitting an inch away from the TV next Thursday. Skol Vikes :hist101:

Favre will play all 16 games, he is god damn Brett Favre.

Brett will hit his stride soon enough. He's shaky right now, but he's getting more confident with the ankle and he's still Brett Favre. Just give it time.

With pretty much the whole defensive league gunning for him, our offensive linemen are already prepped to guard him double if that's what it takes.

Also 31 / 24 Vikes over Denver. :D

If Farve lost his arms and legs, he'd still be the best torso in football!

Bah all your arguments are solid... It's Favre after all. I just don't have faith in Bryant McKinnie and I believe it was Sullivan that has an injury and was not on center during the preseason (questionable for start come Thursday) and Hererra was taking his place? That will need to get back in sync before I have faith that the OL can keep Favre from ending up horizontal.

I like Rodgers though, and I can't see a 2-0 against the Pack this year. I await the inevitable flamings from my Wisconsin friends.

I can't wait for Thursday.

If he's worse for wear, I can see Chilly Ball letting it happen. I mean, he let Rosenfels go over TJack for Christ's sake.

Definitely not the way we want to start things. Brett needs to work on the relationship he has with his off receivers. Just because you don't have Rice on the field doesn't mean you can't throw the ball.

Yeah, if he wants to have a relationship with the receivers, maybe he should've been at training camp and throwing to them? Practicing with them? Getting to know them?

Pierre Thomas did just dandy for me fantasy wise. Interesting game otherwise. Slightly boring, the Vikings def seemed a bit "off" on the offensive side. I imagine it'll get better. At least their defense can keep them in the games until they get to that point.

He should have been at camp. If tonight had been explosive between Favre and the receivers, we would probably overlook it like last year. Whether it was a click like last season or not, he should have been there. I don't know if it's some kind of "I'm an MVP super bowl winning champ" complex where he thinks he can figure all his outs in a snap.

The Saints took advantage of the lacking Vikings secondary, especially right off the bat. The Vikings D made a good stand throughout the game, though this easily could have been 20-9 had Hartley not missed.

Adrian didn't get the ball at all in the fourth quarter... wtf chillyball? It wasn't a desperate situation that required bombing the ball down the field in hopes of a miracle. I love to watch Brett throw the ball, but this wasn't the time. I want to see AP run more outside routes... I'm sick of seeing him dive into the manpile without hesitation. But the Vikings OL isn't the best at clearing routes in his defense.

Hopefully Favre can get the groove before the rest of the (tougher) season gets in gear and injured players can start.

Okay, let's get this straight.

You're being made to go to swear in on the field, probably by some mediocre recruiting officer, as a publicity stunt in front of thousands of clueless civilians so they can feel better about supporting their military (by cheering a bunch of civilians that haven't done anything yet) and then get pampered by a bunch of fat cats so they can feel better about being so rich while a bunch of young people volunteer to go die for their wealth, I mean country?

Cool, enjoy the game!
