Fox news vs. "State controlled media"

for you who wish to continually debate the nuances of various news media:

And, no, I don't realize any of those things. Also, Stewart is a liberal comedian that does a news satire show. Of course he is going to have a field day with the only major news network that isn't liberal although it is good to see he's been picking on Barry more lately.

That really did blow my mind, and the edit of Boehner was quite amusing.

8-plus minutes of Liebowitz is way too much for me. Can somebody tell me what point in the video is relevant?

^^ he actually rips on networks other than Fox in this clip, and makes fun of Arianna Huffington's accent, you might like it. It's only 8 minutes of your night :)

It gets pretty interesting at about 5 minutes in though

Both Stewart and Colbert have actually been on The O'Reilly Factor.

Is this a John Stewart LIEBOWITZ thing (as in "Barack HUSSEIN Obama") or John Stewart LIEbowitz thing (as in "LIEberals want to build LIEbraries")?

If it's the latter you are a marginally less terrible person, I guess.

Earlier today I wrote a post about the irony in that his current signature (definition of Obamacide) actually describes the presidency of George W. Bush to a T, but I opted out of submitting it when I remembered, amidst my thinking that he's being stupid, that he does this sort of thing not only because he on some level believes it and also believes that it's somehow very clever and witty (qualities that he's also actually capable of, by the way), but also because he tends to succeed at provoking a reaction out of people who see that he's just making empty, dim-witted jabs which he, a lot of the time, didn't even come up with.

Also, Wookie, you've cited Ann Coulter as some kind of an influence. That's perhaps being a bit too hard on yourself, because she mainly comes off as crazy and ignorant no matter what the underlying intents.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Leibowitz is his birth name.

Who cares what John Stewart's birth name is? It's not like he'd be the first person in showbiz to change his name. What makes the difference?

When I first saw him at that disaster of a healthcare summit, no one pronounced his name, so, for a long time, I thought that was how it was pronounced.

I have nothing to say right now except LOL. A google search of "Why is Fox news bad?" or "Why should fox news not be trusted" should turn up enough results for you to sift through.

It's sad that as satirical as Stewart is, he's still a much better "reporter" than the entire Fox news conglomerate combined.

And if Steven Colbert ever decided to seriously run for office, I'd give up my Canadian citizenship to be able to vote for him.

Yes, it's blatant trolling. I don't care what his name is but since it is his real last name I can use it and people will get outraged, thus it is "trolling". This is similar to what I did with Obama's middle name except in that case I actually never brought it up. However people, knowing I'm a racist, could preemptively accuse me of doing so and, in the course, get their panties all twisted in a wad for something I never actually did. I don't see how you don't see the brilliance in that.

Oh, also it's clear that I'm now an anti-Semite calling for the destruction of Israel.

You can also Google for things like "Why WTC was an inside job" and "the president is a Muslim" for plenty of results to sift through. :P

(But I agree about Fox News.)

Well, of course it's trolling. I just needed to see your name attached to the post to know that. Why you expect it to be effective trolling is another question altogether.

That's not really what I'm asking, though. As you're probably aware, you're not the only Republican who does this, and that's what confuses me. There's nothing inherently insulting about the name Leibowitz, and yet I see people repeatedly referring to him as such when criticizing him. So I'll ask again: Is there any point to it?

Yes, it annoys people. That's the point. The same people that go "omg, John Stewart and Steven Colbert are so smart and funny and so much more accurate than Fox News." get all butt hurt when you call Stewart Liebowitz.

I don't recall anyone being butthurt because you called him by his real name. I certainly don't because I'm not stupid enough to think that last names factor into anything at all aside from what you might possibly inherit.

Actually I think you'll find that they're not so much getting butt-hurt as they are thinking you act like a bratty child. You may not be using the term "poo poo head" but you're using the names to mean the same thing.
Oh, and main reason no-ones getting butt-hurt? Stewart is always poking fun of his Jewishness, and it wouldn't surprise me if he's called himself Liebowitz in his paradoxical jew voice anyway.

To the people who don't know, it's "Leibowitz" not "Liebowitz."

I was trying to figure out whether Wookie was calling him Liebowitz because he hates Jews and just happened to spell it wrong, or if he was intentionally spelling it wrong to put "lie" in it, because Stewart tells liberal lies. According to Wookie it is because he hates Jews, but I'm not sure I believe him.
