Yeah, I kind of expected a little more from Massassi. In retrospect, I'm not sure why.

I know I don't, And I hope I never do. I'm sorry that video offended you.

The thing that always bothers me about threads like these is that people try to downplay the attacks like they were no big deal because worse things have happened in history. Something like this shouldn't be comparative of how horrible they were. "Oh, you think that's bad? What about the Holocaust? That was wayyyyyy worse!" or "What about all the innocent civilians that are killed in the Middle East by bombings or crossfire?"

Yeah, these things are terrible also. When people think of September 11, it shouldn't be a matter of trying to brag about who has had the worst experience like it's some kind of pissing contest. The fact of the matter is, it *was* a horrible event, and so many people lost their lives because of it. Making fun of it is in really bad taste IMO.

Also, the whole (too soon?) argument isn't even relevant. It wouldn't be funny if someone had music and showed people being shot in the face or put into an oven either. I just think that people should have more respect for things like this, and if anyone tries to argue "OH GROW UP MAN IT'S JUST A JOKE", they should probably start heeding their own advice.

I usually bite my tongue when it comes to this subject, but I've got some beef.

I'm sick of all of this "NEVER FORGET" bull****. Not the idea of remembering the tragedy, but the implication that the attack on the trade towers is somehow a much more important date to "NEVAR FORGET!!!!!1111111111" than... I don't know, let's say December 7th. Sure, most of us weren't around to bear witness to the attack on Pearl Harbor and after 9 years the memory of 9/11 is still fresh to many but it shouldn't matter.

12/7: Never forget!

9/11 is more relevant to people today, both in terms of the collective memory and the global political climate. It's perfectly reasonable for people to memorialize it more now.
2010-09-12, 2:46 PM #50
I never said I didn't understand it, I just don't agree with it.

I don't know that it's fair to say the middle east has ever been really "stable" since.... Oh I don't know... Ever?

If there was instability it was amongst themselves. The only reason why that section of the globe remotely matters is because of oil and you are completely daft to think otherwise.

Iraq was certainly more stable before 2003 (unless you go back around 10 years from that) and Iran probably didn't see itself to be in dire need of nukes (if that is indeed what they're going for, as predicted). And I'm sure all of it fuelled radicalization in other countries as well.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Between outside meddling and the development of states that could fund themselves on oil revenues and ignore/oppress their general populations with impunity, oil is a major reason the Middle East is in the awful shape it's in today. They'd probably be better off if they mattered a little less.

I think this is pretty funny, but if anyone thinks it's offensive - please remove. Love the guy playing Al Farouq. (he reappears in several videos and always says 'go there and just wait - you'll see' :D)

Fire has never — prior to or after 9/11 — caused any steel frame building to collapse. The sudden, vertical, explosive, and total collapse of the Twin Towers at near freefall speed can only be explained by controlled demolition.

Gosh, you mean sometimes something happens that hasn't happened before? You mean none of the other tube-within-a-tube steel framed buildings that had a huge 757 airliner full of jet fuel sever a huge portion of their supporting structures EVER fell down? That is amazing!

But we all know that this discussion is totally not necessary.

You know, if you're going to believe in a conspiracy, it should be one that at least holds a little water... like the JFK ones... at least there's some factual evidence to show that there might have been some shady stuff going on there.

not trying to be a stick in the mud, but the "middle east" region really has not, not been in some state destabilization since probably around the time of the babalonian empire. you have invasions by the romans and after that the crusades... all bagillion of them, not to mention just constant local turmoil between christianity, islam and judiasm. just the existance of jerusalem has caused almost constant conflicts.

but yes out side of religion and opium, oil is really the only reason the region is really important today.
