can't really open my eyes both all the way easily...my left one had two muscles sewn and is pretty scratchy..plus they dilated the hell out of my pupils so everything is effing bright. But I am straight!

It sounds like he had brain surgery to make him straight and they had to go through his left eye.

Nah they loosened the inner muscle and tightened the outer muscle to straighten my eyes. Now I can use either eye and they still look straight! :)

Just needs to add a little burnt hair. You know, he should have waited until closer to Halloween.

I miss my subconjunctival hemorrhage from 2004. Or actually I don't. Still got no idea what caused it, though.

Nice! I'm happy for you.

Edit:
Also, I found this because my curiosity always gets the best of me:

Awesome! I didn't know they could do that! You look a lot tougher in the newer picture, too, and not just because of your eyes (although I bet this will help you stare guys down). Let us know if you shoot straighter now. :)

My eyelids still seem heavy and my pupils are massive..really hoping the dilation wears off soon.

Probably going to be bloody for a week or so, I think...but I am looking forward to when it's better :D

Is it weird looking at yourself and seeing your eyes differently?
2010-09-13, 1:51 PM #23
It's definitely different...I'll probably notice it more when I have glasses on (or contacts in both eyes) so I can switch back and forth and watch the little/no movement that happens (vs the huge jump).

This is also great in that now you can look at a suspect without getting distracted by things like your nasal bridge.

LOL. Well, my brain pretty much blocked out the vision from my other eye so that wasn't a problem - but now I will have a lot more peripheral vision (since the "inactive" eye won't be pointing at my nose), so that's also a plus :D

I don't have depth perception - hoping that I may be able to develop it with vision therapy, though.

So I remember asking if the left eye affected your shot performance in any way or prevented you from doing anything and you answered resoundingly that it didn't. What was the motivation for the surgery? The potential of developing depth perception is pretty huge, but with solid shooting and driving, I don't (because I'm sure I take it for granted) see what else it would benefit.

It looks like a pretty simple procedure with a quick recovery time, and it was probably covered by his insurance. So, why not?

Well first, even a small chance of depth perception is huge. Second, the peripheral vision I have gained is also huge. Third, dude...if you were a chick, what would you go for..the straight-eyed guy or the one who looked like I did? It cost me 5 bucks! No-brainer. :P

And for ordinary practical purposes, in my line of work eye contact can be very important. I've asked someone a question and had the wrong person answer - because they each thought I was looking at them. It'll also stop the drunk *******'s comments, which I can deal with but they're still annoying.
