Also, yes, Spectrael, I know you can use it via IMAP/POP3 or whatever. But I already have a setup I am perfectly happy with that works on all my email clients :P There's just literally nothing that GMail offers that I don't already have, or just don't really want. (And did I mention PREVIEW PANE :( )

I know how that goes :D

Kinda maybe off topic a little here, but I'm looking for an alternative to gmail. The main reason why I use it is because of my Droid X, but I'd like to have IMAP and contact sync that works like just it does with Gmail. Any suggestions there?

IMAP and contact sync that works just like what does with Gmail? What are you trying to do?

You want something that can handle imap and sync just like gmail, but isn't gmail?

I was kind of vague haha.

I'm looking for something that will store my contacts and do all the good things that gmail does but on a more "professional" level. Like an Exchange server or something. Something I can use for my own domain email.

http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/gmail.html

$50/user/year. Use your own domain. Worth it if it's just for you.

I used to be like you Outlook/Thunderbird using chumps... back when the only browser-based options were Hotmail/Yahoo/other ****.

With Gmail, there is almost no reason NOT to use it. Especially when you can send e-mails as if they were sent from non-gmail addresses (for example, I use it with two of my .edu addresses). I almost never use it to send out e-mails from my @gmail address. Biggest advantage for me is speed (in searching) and accessibility (can access my e-mail at any computer).

I have a few gmail accounts, but I typically host my own domain with my webspace.
