1 burger / 2 weeks is my average. Anyhow, I don't have any idea if you're joking or not but anyway, you made me actually make a serious long, very unnecessarily epic post. .. Here it goes.
Let the record so reflect: I do not hate America. Never have. Probably never will. I've tried to make this point clear in the past 5.5 years. I've failed horribly at it.
In January 2005 Darth Evad posted a thread concerning a bombing of purportedly innocent people in Iraq. I recalled hearing about similar incidents in the past, so I went ahead
and posted this. It immediately gained some negative attention, but I thought I had done a good deed because it seemed hypocritical for Americans to complain to me about a post like that since they (read = a vocal minority) kept on making fun of other countries with worse comments. And why would they flock on to me for making that post, it's not like
I was doing anything original. (

As time went by, I started to notice the reactions I got from making posts like these. It seemed to me like most of them were "in the joke" and weren't bothered by my comments and those who were seemed to match the unpleasant
Ugly American stereotype rather well. I was right in some instances, but
horribly wrong in others. I recall DSettahr sending me a PM about the matter so I toned down the shtick for a while. Of course, I had already established my
reputation for the next few years.
In other words, I had committed
an intentional fallacy. The main point of the burgerboy shtick was to poke fun at Americans in a pointed and ridiculous fashion and that people would see right through it since I kept on using American inventions and frequented an American discussion forum on the Internet. After all, I could not have been a
hypocrite! I remember telling stuff like "I don't take most of the Internet seriously" on the chat horribly often.
However, some people had managed to realize my intentions from the beginning so I considered them to be "the winners of the burgerboy shtick". AKA
WOBS. These people were Emon, Spook, Antony, Tracer, mb and JediKirby.
Yes, I really had that term in my head. Urgh.
As years went by, I don't think I even remembered why I originally made that BURGERBOY post. I had
become the mask. If someone questioned my jabs I'd point out how I called Brits "teaboys" and had always been critical of Finland itself. Uh huh, sure.
Now, the fall of the burgerboy shtick can be attributed to two threads.
This one made me think that people still hadn't got the "burgerboy shtick" and I had to keep it on forever until they did. In retrospect, Jon`C is mostly accurate in his post about me even if he might have had different motives for posting the thread. Well, it's in the past now but I still wish I hadn't made him mad (how I should have been more supportive of Sith II could make its own thread).
Anyhow, come
THIS POST and I
finally realized that the whole act stunk. If one of the "winners" had changed his opinion from "he's just weird" to "it's a stupid shtick but you're taking it too seriously" to "you're right, he's a moron".. well, maybe it was finally time to stop beating the dead horse.
So what about the aftermath of the Burgerboy Shtick? Apparently BobTheMasher still has me on ignore, can't really blame him for that. Myself, I thought the 1.5 years I spent on working on TODOA also gave me a lot of time to think about doing some other things instead of bickering on about crap on the Internet (besides working on a level for an over 10-year-old game). So I keep on making some burgerboy jabs there and there but I sure hope I don't appear malicious anymore. I don't really know, no one has really addressed the issue since 2008.
Which leads me to this thread. Kroko's original post reeks of baiting and shticking, so I decided to "join the game" and post one of my classic burger gifs. Apparently zanardi has a real issue with this, and I can't really blame him. I just hope I can make my point clear by outright stating that I don't want to appear malicious with my burger-related posts anymore, but of course there will always be the intentional fallacy.
I just wanted to let you all know the true E! story behind the Burgerboy Shtick. I spent too much time typing this so it's full of grammatical errors and so on, but I think I owed an explanation after 5 years.
