I'm expecting to find it just as splendid as any other education path I could pursue.

One guy apologizes for taking cheap shots, and everyone lines up to take one against him. This is not a place where you say sorry.

And, LOL, bag of hammers.

Maybe if it was a real apology instead of "everyone but you"

Meh, I'm not that bothered by not having a degree anymore. Sure, I'd probably have a better job and get more money but I kind of like having a mind-numbing and mind-devouring mundane crap job since on the other hand I'd have to get a loan or beg for money from the government or someone else for studies.

There's nothing really interesting to study either so I think I'll stick with actually getting money every month.

Oh well, I can regret it later. HUzzaw!

I didn't have any experiences like that in my film class. Honestly every single person was cool and there were no "cliques".

I only hope that most of my classes will be awesome like yours because I am strongly predisposed to homicide.

I wasn't aware hammers were really kept in bags either. Toolbox, sure, or on a belt, but not in a bag.

As a hammered guy myself, I can completely confirm this.

If I see a fat person at the bar scarfing down water and lemonade, I'm going to be a judgmental arsehole.

If I see a fat person at the bar taking flaming shots, actually working up a sweat, I'm thinking "Good on ya, mate."

He said that "some of my friends are bags of douche." He then went on to say that "they're not my friends any more." Any more than what? Any more than bags of hammers would be his friends? Any more than Massassians (which might wrongly imply that massassians are not bags of douche)?

Not trying to take anything away from your post but I'm not splitting hairs at all. The post made no sense. Even if we agree he meant "anymore" and not "any more" did he have some sort of epiphany between the two sentences? 'My friends are douches. They're not my friends anymore.' What?

"Any more" is the primary listing in the OED; "anymore" is given as an alternate and more recent spelling.

Artists get vocational degrees. BFAs or something similar (e.g. BCA, B. Arch.) If you talk to someone and they went to "art school," this is what they graduated with.

"Art" degrees, or a B.A., means you earned a degree in something that is a traditional Liberal Art (philosophy, literature, language, history, politics,) or just something too oblique to fit with any other faculty. A B.A. from a respectable school will have nothing to do with the technical execution of an art form.

Sorry for your not understanding higher education.

Im getting a B.A in Multimedia/Games Art. Those who faff all day and nerd off about fragging in multiplayer never get through half the 1st year. Only 40% of the original 1st years made it to year 3, and those are the true "artists".

We may model and texture etc etc, but those who are generally top artists always get the best grades. So, in this case, a slight loophole to your law of what B.A stands for.

Maybe its different over here in the UK anyway. Im glad I didnt do normal "Art" as i feel there arent enough transferable skills into an actual career.

Or perhaps i just misunderstood you. Cos I is like, not smart innit.

Nobody gets beat up in Basic Training. It's a serious flaw with the program.

Interesting. I've always sort of taken "anymore" to be a reference to time and "any more" to be a reference to quantity. So if we stipulate he meant it in reference to time then it's either really flawed or deeply philosophical. His friends aren't his friends anymore.

The problem I see with people who pursue fine art degrees is they're not specific with what they want to do. Students who have a very specific skill they want to specialize in and have actual work experience (via internships or whatever) can easily get a "creative" job. In film school all I hear is how they want to be "jack of all trades". I guess they forget the other half of that quote is "master of none".

I've lost count of unemployed, talentless Floridians I've met with degrees from Full Sail University. On the other hand, a good BFA program will usually get its best students into contact with industry headhunters, internships, etc. It's what you make of it.

Sadly, Full Sail is a better uni than the one I went to.
