California votes for weed tommorow!

Oh, and some nonsense about mid-term elections, but who cares! Weed!
Can't wait to see videos of very confused police wrangling with what to do when the feds come down on weed ops, but it's also legal state-wise.
E: I just thought to add a weed related poll, but alas the opportunity has gone by.

I'm fairly certain you have no idea what you're talking about, but that's okay. People think that if this passes everyone is going to be walking around wicked baked all the time. First of all, that's already happened, second of all, it's going to be regulated like tobacco or alcohol to prevent all these ridiculous scenarios that the concerned soccer moms keep coming up with.

If Prop 19 doesn't pass this time around, it will the next time, that much I'm sure of. It's so easy to get marijuana in California it's stupid. It's just about as easy to pick it up illegally as it is legally. No matter what the verdict is tomorrow, people are still going to smoke a TON of pot, the only difference is that the state won't be getting a penny if it fails, and we'll continue to clutter our already overcrowded prisons and piss away our tax money on fighting something that should have never been illegal in the first place.
Think while it's still legal.

I don't smoke weed, but I'm for it. Sure. Why the hell not? It's not like it's harmful in any way.

As long as there are laws to cover operating vehicles/etc when high and other such things, fine.

Agreed :awesomelon:

I mailed my ballot in last week and I had a big fat proud black mark by "Yes" on Prop 19. It won't pass, but we'll get there.
2010-11-01, 10:44 PM #7
I do say it should be legal for someone to do something that hurts no one.

That's been covered for decades in this state under DUI - Driving Under the Influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Nothing changes regarding this.

I assumed as much, I wasn't making a commentary on the law, I was stating an opinion.
I don't live in California, hell I don't even live in America, and my knowledge of what's going on is restricted to what's been said in this thread.

I hope we vote Rick Perry out of office tomorrow. We won't, but I'm still gonna hope.

I think California is trying to get back in the Union's eyes with these measures. I really think we're the laughing stock of the nation. But in the end, this prop will fail. A lot of people are gonna talk big and say that this is a good measure. It will help with California's finances and hopefully set a precedent to restore more of the 10th Amendment. But people still buckle to peer pressure and most don't want to respond "yes" to people going "So you voted to help my kid get high." So they'll vote "no" because it cleans them of their conscious and it makes them sleep at night knowing they helped stop those eeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil drugs (when really they didn't).

Look what happened to Prop 8. All the polls had it winning up until Monday night, November 3 2008. When it came time to vote, people couldn't bring themselves to stand up in favor of a controversial issue in front of all their church friends and neighbors. Didn't wanna be "that guy/girl." So it was defeated.

People are sheep. No spine at all.

Do you realize comments like this aren't witty, cute or funny? They just make you look more stupid. If you want to not look stupid, I suggest actually reading some source of information. And I don't mean skimming Wikipedia. You could also not pretend to know everything and then try to make witty remarks when someone calls you out on it.

As I don't follow the news lately (American or otherwise), cool, I didn't know about this proposition prior to this post.

So hey, thanks for posting.

I'll be incredibly surprised if this doesn't pass. I mean it seems like 90% of the people here on massassi support this prop, every random website with articles and comments show a lot of support for it. But these "polls" keep talking about prop 19 trailing behind 5-10%, it just seems like a load of ****...

If it passess it will be by a slim margin. Many of the people who really want this passed won't vote. Many people whom SAY they want it won't really vote for it.

I hope the details aren't so ridiculous that none of the current problems are solved. If people can't grow at home or procuring it becomes a problem and black markets maintain, people will say that repealing prohibition didn't work. I also wonder how other problems will be handled so that stupid people are at fault and not weed itself.

There. I fixed a sentence I dunno if it makes it any more clear. I'm just suggesting that a small group of people could represent a larger group of people.

People can smoke, people can get drunk, but people can't smoke a joint? What is up with that?
I live in a country where marijuana is being tolerated. This means that you can carry a maximum of 5 gr. with you at all times, and you may not sell it unless you're certified to do so. People are not walking around the streets stoned as **** all the time.
Yes it's harmful, like smoking and drinking. Yes, it alters your perception and process of thinking, like smoking and drinking. So where do you draw the line?

Yes, that is in fact how statistics works. But only if the sample size is randomly selected from the population.

I know, it was more of a statement. I'm really glad there is a progressive state such as California. I'm just hoping people who think this way will actually vote for it and not succumb under pressure from the environment they're living in.

People don't have to know how you voted.. jeeze. To claim that this is what tipped the scales is kinda silly. People disagree with you. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that. Not to mention I wouldn't be at all surprised if everyone who profits from marijuana votes against the proposition.
