The idea, is that with Obama in Asia, he is there to 'demonstrate' our ability to launch a submerged intercontinental weapon. Or at least that's what I've read.

What I heard was that not even the military knows who shot it.

I've witnessed something like that before while driving, but once my perspective was changed by a mile or two it was pretty obvious it wasn't a plane crashed into the ground.

I doubt the airplane theory. I may be wrong (I'm certainly no expert), but I've never seen an airplane with such a bright light coming from it's tail.

Further, arriving planes at LAX approach from the west (ocean) and depart to the east (mainland) except between 0000 and 0600 for noise abatement, and only then during the right weather conditions. This object appears to be heading away (as indicated by the light on the tail), which is incorrect for the LAX flight path.

What do I know, but the bright light at the end of it seems weird to me, never seen such a sustained light from a regular airplane with a contrail. Very strange!

All that guy has proven is that the thing was flying across, not up.

Again, I'm not arguing that it's a missile or the government or corporations, just that it's peculiar, and doesn't look like any kind of plane I have ever seen living in the airport flight path. The light is really what strikes me as being odd.
2010-11-09, 4:13 PM #19
It's not heading away, it's moving closer. It appears to be heading away because the wind has spread the contrail further in the distance, creating what looks like perspective.

Steven you have never seen a light on an airplane before?

Sure, hundreds of times, just never like that.

All I'm saying is that it's peculiar, and unlike any plane light I've seen in my 10 years of driving under planes on my way to work.

Great, pay more attention next time?

Possible explanations: landing lights (are they required to be on at a certain time of day?), sun reflecting off the body

Looks like the sun reflecting off the plane to me. I've lived next to an airport for pretty much all of my life.

Carefully orchestrated plan for the government to reveal the existanecn of chemtrails, in order to fictionalize the conspiracy theories in the mmind of the people.

Normally I would dispute this but it does kind of make sense that Obama might want to demonstrate that even under his leadership our military is still capable of doing things it has been able to do for decades.

Doesn't look like a plane to me.

But I lol'ed at the comment on space.com about it being Pelosi going back to the mothership.

What's the difference anyway? I always thought a missile meant basically a rocket with guidance, but we call the space shuttle a rocket...

Landing lights are the big headlights on the nose gear and inboard leading edge of wings.

Navigation lights are on all the time. The right wing tip has a green light on it, the left wing tip has a red light on it. The top of the tail, empenage, whatever has a white light on it. All aircraft also have rotating red beacons, one on top, and if its ****ing big one on the bottom.

Surely someone saw this actually happen, and didn't just see a contrail and claim it to be a missile. A missile, especially one that was claimed to come from the water, is going to move much faster than the typical commercial airliner. I think the videos/pictures are the trail after the winds had their way with it. Skewing most people's opinions on what it is.

I don't really see why it matters either way.

For all we know it could just be a malfunction / bad mistake from the military. They're just lying about it to avoid public concern.

Something else no one seems to notice: it doesn't actually look anything like a rocket trail. The cross section of a rocket trail would be circular, this is flat like a ribbon. Incidentally this is what all contrails look like!

rocket just refers to propulsion, missile typically refers to a weapon, is how i understand it
