General Announcement:

I am instituting banhammer month.

For the next month, any directly insulting comments towards other members, or otherwise rule-bending or rule-breaking posts will result in immediate bans. The amount of insults and trolling going around on various members is just pathetic and is not helping this community in any form.

I've been slowly more lax on some of Massassi's rules as of late. You guys wanted to be allowed more mature discussions, but frankly, I'm not sure everyone's earned it.

There are ways of talking about members, correcting them, explaining to them, dealing with problem members, without downright insulting and deriding them.

Just remember, this is your warning. Don't screw it up.

This is one of my favorite forums because the culture here doesn't frown upon controversial subjects. I hope some manner of verbal jousting will be allowed in the future. It just isn't as interesting when everyone is 100% civil, 100% of the time.

Guys, this really isn't a joke. This has nothing to do with controversial topics, this has everything to do with tearing members a new one when you don't agree with their opinion, don't like how they post, or if they're being ignorant, etc.

I think there's a big difference between verbal jousting, controversial topics, passionate debates... and some of the stuff that's been going on. I think this is a step in the right direction.

You can be nice and still express your opinion.

I don't think it needs to be extended. It's a general rule as is. Basically, don't be an ass, and you won't get banned.

Absolutely! There's no need for any name-calling, veiled insults, outright insults and other crap like that.

I'm not claiming to be pure of heart either, I think I've probably found myself in a flamewar somewhere in the forums, I'd like to think I've kept the high ground but I bet someone could quote me doing something I shouldn't.
That being said I'm glad to see things heading into a more civil direction (not that this is a particularly uncivil place, but there's always room for improvement)
