If there's something Massassi is famous for beside JK, it's hating on Fox news.

So...

My god, its full of stars.
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

Oh Christ. Here comes six pages of Wookee and Jon`C going at it.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Again? I saw that weeks ago. SA even banned posting it it got so overused.
I will however say that fox-news is the blatantly evil, I mean serious honest wants-to-hurt-people evil.

To be honest, things like NBC or the Huffington post are really no better.

Actually, every time Ariana Huffington opens her mouth, a premature baby from the premie ward gets punched in the face with brass knuckles. She is like the Sarah Palin of the liberals.. either her or Nancy Pelosi.

Either way, I only like Fox for good shows. (ie Fringe)

It's not a matter of not knowing where it is, this isn't some simple mistake, this is blatantly lying.

The average American doesn't know where Egypt is so I don't find it at all surprising that someone at Fox News doesn't (assuming there's no conspiracy here). I couldn't find a single co-worker at my current (mostly servers) job & very few at my previous job (many of these people have degrees) that could locate France or even England or Spain on a world map. They'd point to everything from Africa to India & Australia. The only 2 that could were either former (physics) or future (special Ed.) teachers. The former physics instructor spoke fluent Portuguese & spent much of his time in Brazil. It's amazing how many people can't find a country as large as Brazil on a world map & are unaware that they speak Portuguese in said country. I don't think that the ignorance that Americans have of geography is necessarily a sign of lesser intelligence (although quite often that's probably the case). It's merely the fact that we're taught from birth that we're the greatest country on Earth & that everyone else is insignificant (& probably communist/socialist). It's no wonder that we can't locate other countries when it's engrained in our culture that ours is the only one that matters. I often wonder if the average Roman could've located Hibernia on a map.

Ignorance of geography doesn't end with America. The Russians that I work with can't even locate the state they're currently living in (one of them swore that Canada was the U.S. & became enraged when I attempted to explain otherwise).
? :)

The idea that someone at Fox doesn't know is fair enough.
But someone not knowing, and assuming, and making a digital map thingy for it to be broadcasted without ever checking an actual map? And no-one at any point doing any kind of fact checking? That's a bit much, even for Fox

I'd be pissed, too, if I paid to immigrate to the U.S. and found out I was snuck into Canada instead.

Well, it's also from a joke site. I just assumed it was fake. Maybe you could find a more legitimate source for the image such as The Onion or the Christian Science Monitor.

It's not, really. Even if Fox News weren't a Republican mouthpiece, their consistently shoddy fact-checking and editing would make them unworthy of consideration as a serious news outlet.

It's a tabloid. It's basically the Weekly World News, only with communism instead of bat-people.

You mean The Daily Mail, only with communism instead of cancer.

Civilization taught me that Memphis is a city in Egypt.

That map is all wrong. Egypt is in Tennessee.

Hahaha, you're so funny. I know that you only came to this conclusion because Emon, Jon`C, and Michael McFarlane told you they're good in this thread six months ago.

No, they come to that conclusion because they aren't insurmountably retarded.

Can he be banned yet?

This doesn't excuse people whose job is to report on news from around the world for making a mistake like this.

I still don't buy that someone drawing a map wouldn't think to look at a map before having theirs on television.

People get rushed and make dumb mistakes. There was the recent transposition of states from CNN that was posted here as well. It is what it is and, that is, inconsequential. Still, the most "legitimate" source for the image seems to be Media Matters and all they did was display it and thank some twitter user for it. I've been unable to find any video of the incident.

Yes exactly, they changed my opinion. Although I still stand that the title makes it a bit hard to swallow as a reputable resource at first.

Silly Tibby, taking other peoples opinions into account... don't you know you should close your ears and yell LALALALA as loud as possible when someone says something different to what you used to think?
