No dude this guy I met at CMT school just called me and said he was the guy who stabbed Osama in the face.

pogs were a blast man. They got banned from my school because commie ****ing teachers were uncomfortable with kids becoming enterprising and stealing all of the little kids pogs.

From the guys I know and the stories I've heard it definitely seems like the POGs with kush assignments make SGT in like 4 years or less, and have literally nothing to show for it on their left tit.

my school didn't outright ban pogs at first... instead they tried to ban playing for keeps (in other words don't let a teacher see 2 pog tubes out during a game) but they eventually banned it because of morons who would whip them out in class to do some pog trading

I was in a position to pick up Corporal a year before I did but I volunteered for the wrong thing and developed a bad attitude.

It's not that hard if you are good at your Job and people like you.

DrkJedi, that was probably a huge part of the problem, same reason they banned pokemon cards.

You could name him Devan Turtle, after the villain in Jazz jackrabbit.

How about CODY COKER?

I'm saying that in the Fleet and Reserve Forces that you can pick up quickly if you are proficient, but you also have to roll the dice on whether or not the people you work for and with like you.

You could be Paul Isom but if your whole platoon likes football and you like soccer you may as well write off meritorious promotions.

I heard that in order to pick up quickly in the grunts you pretty much need a 300 on the pft and cft.

Then you have also discovered that most grunts are ****ing liars and idiots.

To get meritorious, yeah, I guess, but I have seen people with less pick up. To pick up normally, all you have to do is make the cutting score. If you have a halfway decent rifle score and 1st class PFT (not hard) and do all of your MCIs you will pick up easily in most MOSs. Of course, if you're say, an assaultman, your cutting score may be really high. Similarly, some MOS fields are simply just not open for promotion. This can be the case for small fields.

when i was younger i had a turtle and i named it Mikey, then it laid eggs so i renamed it Meeka. Therefore, i think you should name yours Stanley.

on a freaky note i am certain i had those exact same pogs and one of the tubes i had was green like that one

I remember having some pogs.

But I don't remember what I DID with them. Really, I can't recall "the fun" of them.

Pogs were basically non-waterproof marbles that could be stored flat and which didn't fly as far if you hit them too hard. Same basic principle: hit a bunch of things with a bigger thing, and keep the ones that travel more.
2011-05-06, 7:15 PM #56
Yeah, there was something about throwing them. Like projectiles.

I collected some. Then I looked at them.

Hahah... while I'm a 90's dweeb for knowing this... you don't throw 'em. You stack them, and then you hit them with a "slammer", a plastic piece that is about as thick as six pogs together.

The ones that flip out of the stack are the ones you keep. The ones that stay stacked are still in play.

Marbles, you put 'em in a ring, fire the "shooter", the biggest marble you have, into the ring. Any marbles that roll out of the ring are kept. Any remaining in the ring are still in play.

Seriously, red eared sliders are the foulest smelling creatures on the planet. Don't ignore this. Pretend it's a saltwater tank. A really big one. You'll need multiple protein skimmers, especially if you plan on feeding him live fish, and a good sump tank bio filter, unless you want to be changing the water all the time. Remember, if the sump is full of algae, that's good.
2011-05-06, 11:58 PM #59
JM, I have a tank with 2 very large catfish. I am used to the concept of changing the water all the time.

And I know how to care for my creatures.

Also, Spook... Fun story... I got a first class pft with bilateral pnumonia.

The idea is to not be changing the water all the time.

So you don't want the water to be clean?
>>untie shoes
2011-05-07, 3:50 PM #64
Actually, the turtles prefer skanky water; but yes, of course I want the water clean. That's why I'm recommending skimmers and a sump.

My sister owns a red eared slider and I confirm: they smell like hell.

Also nothing says the 90's quite like pogs. I had a few but they were pretty much only for collecting. Pokemon cards were a much better idea.

We had two. The damn things will stir up the bottom of their tank on purpose, just so they can sit in a cloud of their own ****.

Feeding them live fish is an absolute disaster. Bits of fish clogging up the skimmers. But it's so fun to watch them chasing the fish around that it's worth it.

So then the Tortoise IS the Hare.
Except that's a turtle, not a tortoise >_>

Solution: Separate Feeding Tank.
