Ha, oops, meant to say 4th edition d&d.

Al Ciao, are you SF_GoldG_01?
2011-05-19, 2:38 PM #7
Who? No, i'm not, though i think its hilarious you would ask that. Was he famous for rpg proclivities or something? Or just for polls?

If you need proof of my identity, you can confirm it with Geb.

Al Ciao is actually pretty entertaining and not garbage. One of the very few new members that I actually like.

Yeah, he's a lot better than a lot of old posters. Like that Bill guy, he sucked. I'm glad he's gone.

Ha! I dont HAVE a girlfriend, sucker!

...no, i dont have a boyfriend either, i dont swing that way.

Also, as JM said, i used to be known as Highemperor, but in 2004, i stopped coming to massassi, and just came back as Al Ciao two years ago, more mature, or at least less immature. Ive mainly been an ISB denizen, so am new to the Discussion forum.

Baconfish, the "i roleplay with my girlfriend" is the euphemism for "no, i dont play roleplaying games". ;)

Roxima, 3.5 has tons and tons of options, which i like, but 4e is a lot more streamlined and balanced. They both have good and bad points.

Edit @admins: thx for merging the threads! :)

Here i thought i'd have to explain who Jill is, i usually do.

What about Jill's twin sister?
2011-05-20, 6:51 AM #23
Bad accident.
nope.
2011-05-20, 7:10 AM #24
If it was that bad, how do you type? With your toes?
2011-05-20, 7:37 AM #25
Pointer and thumb-pinky.

That reminds me of Happy Gilmore.

"What happened to that nice girl you were dating?" "Oh, she was hit by a car and died."

"My girlfriend is dead you know. Fell off the cliff and died on impact."

I can actually hear his voice saying those lines. Funny as hell.

...

Yeah, I roleplay. Prefer the World of Darkness to D&D though.

Any particular set of WoD? Vampire, Werewolf, Mage?

Ive always thought WoD looked interesting but have never had the chance.

For about 2 or 3 years in Middle School (and maybe part of High School if I remember correctly), my friends and I were really into the Star Wars Roleplaying Game (the WEG D6 rules).

Was a pretty fun game, and pretty easy to play as well. Less complicated that D&D (although I've admittedly only played 2nd edition AD&D, never played 3rd or 4th edition, which I've heard were easier), plus it's set in a universe we all knew pretty well.

Mage, Hunter and Werewolf, mostly. Although I've always more played my werewolves more as a groupless "ghost wolf" than anything, because the actual groups are... well, just a little too unnervingly unnerving.

I'm not great at being the abhuman monster.

The system, though, aside from a few oddities like armour potentially causing guns to jam, is quick to pick up and fast as hell. Which is why I like it.

I like Star Wars Saga Edition. But, they lost the license, which means no new material. Makes me wonder if theyre gonna reboot the rules AGAIN...

Edit @tony: Cool. Mage looked very fascinating to me. Vampire does, too, because despite being powerful, you have to keep up the Masquerade.

Was that the WotC one? I never tried it. I always thought it was a shame when WEG lost their Star Wars license. It pretty much caused them to go bankrupt... They contributed a lot to the Star Wars universe, more than most people realize... WEG actually developed a translation for the "Aurabesh" language for Star Wars (it had no meaning in the OT), and the translations were used in the prequels.

Ah, I found a picture I took a few years back of my WEG D6 Star Wars Roleplaying Game book collection (plus a few others):

To think that I used to lug all of those books at once to my friends houses for gaming sessions...!

Thats totally awesome! Yeah, WEG contributed a LOT to the EU. Saga is indeec the WotC version. Im comfortable with the d20 mechanic, and i like the design and options of it. But for sheer background and flavor, you cant beat WEG?
2011-05-20, 12:09 PM #35
I honestly never tried the D20 SWRPG, so I can't really compare them. But yeah, WEG provided a lot to the Star Wars mythos, and unlike much of the EU, a lot of what they developed was original stuff.

I never had any huge issues with D20, although my experience with it was limited to few games of AD&D. The D6 system was just so simple and intuitive, though. Rather than decreasing the "number to beat" when a character has a higher skill level, as with the D20 system (if I remember correctly), characters with higher skill levels in the D6 system simply get to roll more dice. The difficulty levels always stay the same.

I'm sure you can find some of the WEG SWRPG books on ebay. All you really need is the core rulebook (like this one) (make sure it's the "second edition revised and expanded," which has enough stats on enemies, weapons, and vehicles/spaceships to get you started) to play. Having the Star Wars Sourcebook (here's one) can help if you need more information on the Star Wars Universe to help you get started. The rest of the books are really only needed if you want them. If you've got a great imagination (and a pretty good understanding of how the Star Wars Universe works, which I assume you do since you're posting on a Star Wars related forum!), you can do just fine with the core rulebook.

The one thing in the Weg. System I didn't understand was space flight/ combat. Really complicated.
My girlfriend paid a lot of money for that tv; I want to watch ALL OF IT. - JM

Yeah, upon reflection, I think most of our games had a minimum of space action, although that may have had more to do with how heavily the game Dark Forces influenced the campaign that I ran. :)

How could it be any less literal? The whole point of "roleplaying with your gf/bf" is that its the other, X-rated kind...
