Rapture!

Tibby also took the quote out of context.

2 Peter 3:8
"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."

And it isn't the only verse in the Bible that compares a day to a thousand years as a means to illustrate how God exists outside of time.

Palsm 90:4
"For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night."

Another problem is that you can't pick and choose when to take the Bible at face. Did Jesus wander the wilderness for 40 days or 40,000 years? To create the flood did it rain for 40 days and 40 nights, or 40,000 days and nights?

And then there's Matthew 24:36
"Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither angels of heavens nor Son, but only Father."

Then to take this further, there is nothing written that says the Rapture will be the end of the world. First is the Rapture itself, when the 144,000 chosen are lifted to Heaven. Then come the 7 years (or is that 7,000?) of Tribulations, after which God descends to Earth to take his place among the people who maintained their faith throughout the Tribulations.

Nowhere in the book does it explicitly mention a rapture. It's all conjecture based on a few verses of the Bible. The book of Revelations is meant to be a prophecy for the time immediately after said rapture.

This just goes to show how misguided the people who spread panic about the impending doom of the Rapture really are. None of them actually understand what they're saying because they've been misled by people out for their own gain.

Yeah it was just based on trivia I picked up during this thing.
I know internet sarcasm is a hard thing to grasp, but I was going with "If the bible is taken literally it makes no sense".

Sarcasm is easy to pick up on when you don't fail at it.

This feels like such a back pedal.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Seemed obvious to me that he was pointing out how stupid the belief was.
Anyways, I know this is unfair generalization, but as of late I've been having to deal with really awful christians, to the point that I'm really starting to lose faith in the whole organization. Not religious faith, of course, but human faith. They've been exploiting my mentally ill aunt for decades, between Casey Treat and the "prayer line" her church tells her to call, it's beginning to look like a wholly unholy organization.

-This guy destroying the lives of thousands of people by repeating his stupid "Rapture's coming! For serious, guys, god told me!" story from 17 years ago is just one more example of really awful people exploiting and harming other people because they're either taking advantage of others' beliefs or because they're suffering from schizophrenia.

To be fair to Tibby (screw all of you for making me do it) it wasn't his misinterpretation. The idea that 1 day = 1000 years has been taught by many many idiots for many many years. He was just parroting.

I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

People spent their kids' entire college funds to help this man spread his sick message...

Genetics considered, it probably wouldn't have done their children much good either.

And they've put themselves into debt... which would be passed on, if they can't pay it off...

Some of them sold their homes, everything. It's just so sad.

I can't grasp why some people keep buying into this kind of ****.

Camping says he's 'flabbergasted' it didn't happen. Really?! I mean, no trace of doubt with this guy. It boggles the mind.

Yet Family Radio has a lot of money. And I bet after all this Apocalypse spending, they still do.

I guess it's profitable to be the shepard to a flock of stupid sheep. For me, it's less sad and more disappointing; what is with people's infatuation with just giving up on their world around them? **** future generations, let's just wait for that end!
