I'm probably seeing it in a few days. I know very little of it beyond the fact that it covers the early years of Xavier and Magneto.
I don't really want to know much beyond that till I see it, except I do wonder if this has been covered in the comics or if they're doing something original?

I want to see it. So far I haven't seen a Matthew Vaughan movie I didn't think was awesome. I'd like to see him go back to some of the insane trick photography that he used in Layer Cake.

There's a lot of that in this movie.

Overall I really enjoyed it, but there were definitely a few parts that made me roll my eyes. Strong performances, great action sequences, and one of the best cameos ever.

Got back a little while ago. Overall it was decent...a little too much jammed in though imo. Would have at least to known the bad guys stories.

From the looks of it, it's obviously better than the cluster**** that was X3?

Just got back from a screening of the movie...

WOW. This is Xmen on The Dark Knight sort of levels. It's not quite the Dark Knight but it's definitely an absolutely amazing movie. There are so many tie ins to the other films and the xmen mythos that it's giggle inspiring. Best superhero movie I've seen in a long time by far.

I literally pee'd my pants with a particular scene featuring someone who shall not be named.

See...i never read xmen... I watched some of the cartoon...played the games. I know about the main chars that I've seen so far in the movies. I got an intro to the good guys. Bad guys? Nope. azeal? Who the f is this red night crawler? ( google says father) tornado guy? Crystal cHick?

was a good movie and all but wtf....too many characters.

I saw it last night with my brother and quite enjoyed it over all. I'm glad they added some story and depth to Raven given how vague she was in all the other movies. Also, I too pretty much peed my pants at the cameo.

I was pretty leery of it given how foundational Stewart/Lee are in the movies and how much gravitas they lend, but their Syler-counterparts weren't half bad in the roles.

Edit: So apparently Azazel is Nightcrawler's father by Mystique (originally they wanted Mystique to have impregnated Destiny while shapeshifted :D). Also apparently Mystique has had babies with everyone, even Sabertooth. :o

Also I want a lot more Nightcrawler.
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

Magneto and Xavier were very much friends. That much was spelled out in the three previous movies. And the cartoon. And that other cartoon. And the comic books.

Yeah, this is pretty much a well known thing in the mythos if you even paid somewhat of an attention to it. It's about on par with knowing Darth Vader is Luke's father.

the cameo involves a certain mutant who we all wonder if we are going to see in any marvel universe [anything] that takes place during his lifetime... and it so happens he is in this film long enough to say 2 words

I really enjoyed this movie. At first I was skeptical, but then I heard about the good reviews and the Kick-Ass director behind it. First Class is much better than Thor was. As of right now, Green Lantern and Captain America will need to bring a lot to the table to compete with this film.

What I like about this film is that it feels more like an X-Men film as oppose to "Wolverine and Friends." Like the first two X-Men films, the film once again touches on the themes of prejudice and isolation. Professor X and Magneto are the main stars as it should be since they're represent two contrasting view points on Mutant relations with humans. Michael Fassbender is such a badass as Magneto. The bar scene just shows you that this is a guy you don't want to **** with. There is a bit of a James Bond vibe, which is intentional. (Matthew Vaugh started that he would love to direct a Bond film in the future along with having Fassbender be Bond)

James McAvoy is also a great Charles. I was iffy with him playing Prof X at first, but he does a great job coming off as a erudite pacifist. Jennifer Lawrence fits the role of Mystique rather well. She's the new "Rogue" in this trilogy (yes First Class is the start of a new trilogy) and you get to see her internal strife with being "normal."

Pacing is great; there is a good amount of character development and exciting action (filled with tension and no shaky cam) to drive the plot forward (instead of the other way around). There is some continuity issues with the other movies though despite this film being touted as a prequel and a reboot.

I'm not sure what to think about Sebestian Shaw (played by Kevin Bacon). Bacon plays him well and in some ways, Shaw feels like a Bond villain. However, Shaw does seem a lot like Magneto from the first X-Men film. January Jones (her real life name already sounds comic book-like) did an alright job playing the sultry femme fatale Emma Frost. Oh and as a henchman, Azazel is a badass with this teleportation, suit, and dual blades.

SPOILER WARNING
One big issue I have with the film is the end. I don't like the event of how Xavier suddenly can't feel his legs any more. Somehow I was expecting it to happen in the next film as part of a more significant event. Another thing I wonder about was Angel attacking her old colleagues without a second thought. She seemed disturbed after Darwin died so I thought she would be a bit hesitant during the final battle.
END SPOILER WARNING

My new favorite X-Men film with X2 closely behind.

This has to be the worst description ever. Anyway, I just found the clip and it's three words.

i was purposefully trying to be somewhat vague so as not to get yelled at for spoilers by some moron who might read a thread that says "(probably spoilers later)" in the title and gets upset because there might be spoilers

I know you were trying to be vague but even knowing who was in the "cameo" I wouldn't have guessed it from that description. I would actually be thinking that I missed another cameo.

... there's really only one character whose life is long enough to be in almost any Marvel story.

actually there are a few.... but wolverine is the most popular of them

i am almost waiting for them to have a wolverine cameo in captain america since they did bump into each other in WW2

Yeah, the two cameos in the movie are both pretty obvious when you think about the characters in the movie and who they can possibly bring in for a cameo without resorting to any time travel situations or anything like that.
