Sure, his recievers drop passes on occasion, but nowhere nearly as often as he just blatantly misses throws. It's annoying because people like Phil Simms talk about how he "smartly threw it away after seeing the coverage" when it's obvious that it was just a botched throw. He gets lucky on occasion (see: overtime v Pittsburgh) and makes big plays, but the majority of his success comes from the misfortune of the team they're playing against, which will invariably lead the game into overtime, where Tebow will lead an "amazing" 13 yard drive to get within range of a field goal to win the game. It's amazing that they're not winning because of their good luck, they're winning because of their opponents' horrible luck. Tebow is not a good qb. He doesn't actually do much of anything well, other than run the ball. He cannot complete simple passes. What's even more bizarre, is they have a quarterback who actually can throw accurate passes, but he's being paid millions of dollars to try to teach Tebow how to throw a football.
The media has swarmed the Tebow story because it's essentially a sports movie come-to-life. Tebow is a guy who everyone said would make a terrible NFL quarterback, but somehow, against all odds, he is winning. The Broncos have been awful for the last several years, and with a brand new head coach, after a 1-4 start, they ditched their starting QB to go with the guy who had proven absolutely nothing. They managed a six game winning streak to take the lead in their division, and subsequently won said division because all of the other teams in it are even worse than they are. So after winning the division and going to the playoffs, they manage to beat a team that only lost 4 games this season mainly because that team was plagued with injuries, and made a few horrible decisions. Now they're playing a primetime game against the team that can ostensibly be called the super-villains of the NFL, who not only ended the Broncos' winning streak earlier this season, but are looking to prove that they've still got it and can win playoff games.
It's like watching a football version of Major League, where the unproven new guy is a devout Christian instead of a convicted felon.
