Oh wow, who of the old members still check in?

I just realized that I got into Jedi Knights in '98 or so, signed up around the same, had a forum crash I think so re-signed up in '99.

So I just realised that I've been registerd to this forum for a long time.

I still drop by to lurk but never post. So I'm just wondering who of the old timers are still around?

I've been registered for 8 years, and was considered a Massassian for at least a year or two more in the chat, and I still consider myself one of the newcomers >_>

I used to have this concept that people registered in 1998-2000 were 'old school', members from 2001-2003 'middle school', 2004-2006 'new school' and 2007-> 'What's Wrong With Humanity School'.

Eh, I dunno.

But on this topic, there's one thing that has really bugged me for actually 10 years now. What happened to MikeC? I vaguely remember him reappearing a few years later (not too sure about it) but still, he sort of just disappeared.

Technically found Massassi ten years ago, spent a lot of time on chat. Forums account isn't that old though.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I was around back in '98 when Massassi was hosted by Jedi Nights but I was mostly a lurker as far as the forums go. I was mostly interested in downloading add-ons & reading editing tutorials at that time. I don't think that I became active on the forums until '99. I've been posting since then under various forms of the name Mentat &/or ReAcToR. I've "quit" at least once or twice because I was butt-hurt. If you go back through my posts far enough, you'll slowly see me transform from left to right & from atheist to fundamentalist Christian with a dash of Deism in the middle (which was essentially an era of trying to hang on to some sort of spirituality). As pathetic as it may sound to some of you, I attribute this place (not solely, but partly) to some of the most positive changes in my life. However, most of those changes involve me spending less time online, so I doubt that I'll be active for much longer (though I'll probably continue to check in from time to time).
? :)

By FGR's metrics I'm "middle school" (early 2001) and never really stopped coming here.

"Oh I lurked for a long time before I registered! And then you must consider that I had a different account before this one... really, I've been here since the beginning! Here are links to some threads I have saved because I thought my posts in them were très witty."

Since no one cares about post counts anymore, now we gotta do the "I'm from the original crew" game :P.

I always think that I registered in 2001 but it was 2002 because it was the second semester of my first year of college. It's because of this site I discovered it was possible to make art of games and I've been doing that ever since.

Though I mostly lurk.

So who here keeps watching this thread in the hopes of seeing old-timers we haven't seen in a while pop up? That's pretty much the reason I'm keeping an eye on this thread. :ninja:

Registered in 2001, but lurked mainly in the editing forums for about a year or so before that. And with that more than a decade of my life has been given away to this place.
2012-01-14, 8:35 AM #30
I joined in 2002, so I have been registered here for almost a decade.

wow. That just makes me feel old. :(

1998 or so... does this make me an OG? :)

Lots of happy times here. I remember joining here because of a thread on 'how to annoy people'.. Some funny funny dudes in that thread. Also, I wanted to learn to cog well (which I never did ultimately). I remember making a thread called 'cogging geniuses', in which gbk replied to my query on a never finished level called 'place without a postcard'. Good times :)

And I can't forget me losing my temper and responding in a bloated, self-obsessed way in many many evolution/god threads.

Do you remember when the 'forum' was a single page with all the replies listed on it and it took ten minutes to load on a 28.8?

I think we're down to single digits for actual 'old school' members.
