Star Citizen raises over $26 million.

Why the hell are we talking about economics and climate change????? I want to know if anyone here has bothered buying one of the starter ships of star citizen and played any of the released beta modules (are they worth it?). I'm considering buying Elite: Dangerous instead.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Well, let's think abou this.

Is Elite: Dangerous a finished game that you can buy today, without risk of it ever disappearing from your library as a disavowed unfinished product from a company that went bankrupt making it, and enjoy knowing that all of the content that you are seeing is a cohesive experience that the developers intended?

Kickstarter aside, I can't imagine risking my hard-earned, despite the in-game advantages that doing so may give, on any Early Access games, especially if they're not from a studio with a proven track record. I haven't delved in to researching crowdfunding as much as some of you obviously have, but I don't see any way that I'd ever consider funding anything that didn't have something at least resembling a business plan posted that attempted to alleviate my concerns (are the developers investing their own money as well & how much?). I get that a lot of people are only funding these potential products with a few bucks, but I've seen others spending hundreds or even thousands on something that isn't even going to offer a return on their "investment".
? :)

Yeah but they get a custom avatar and their names linked in the credits!

That reminds me, the Stuart Ashen film is also a pretty good result of a Kickstarter.

So... I bought Elite: Dangerous... it's an awesome game. I've wanted a game like this ever since I was a little kid. It's beautiful, graphically speaking, the gameplay is awesome, the immersion is lacking things that the team has discussed about incorporating in future expansion packs, but none the less it's awesome. My only complaint, it keeps crashing to desktop every 10 minutes without any error being reported. I've tried everything short of reformatting my computer to figure out why. I recently changed video cards but I did a clean install after a complete uninstall of previous drivers. Perhaps it didn't do a good job. I'm going to keep playing it like this, in a couple weeks I'm migrating from windows 7 64bit to windows 8.1 anyways, so might as well wait and see.

I have now narrowed the problem to something in the graphics settings. I'm not sure what it could be because I get very good FPS even with the ultra preset (but whenever I charge the frame shift it always freezes for a half a second mid jump and at the end), but the only preset that doesn't crash to desktop is low. I don't want to go through each setting until I find the one (or combination of) settings that crash the game. Maybe I'll just wait for another update and try better presets then.

Possibly, but when I looked on the forums, I saw people having this problem back in May, but I doubt that it has gone this long without fixing. More likely there is something wrong with either my windows install, dx install or graphics drivers install. In a few weeks when I upgrade I'll know for sure.

True, but judging from the game, I find that to be improbable. More likely it's just my computer. I have other weird problems with my computer as well. I recently bought CADTools for adobe illustrator after the trial ran out, and every single time I start illustrator I have to reactivate my copy. This and other issues are all over my computer. Haven't formatted in a couple years, so I'm placing my bet on that.

EDIT:
Speak of the devil... A new update released today... updating now and reading fixes, maybe there is a fix.

Imagine waiting 19 years for a sequel. I don't have to; I already did.

Edit: Also the game runs decently on my ****ty APU powered laptop, you're doing something wrong.

Must be... now it will run on high for around 30 mins without crashing to deskop, and now there are random severe drops in frame rate, even on low. Can't wait to format my computer.

fwiw, I've logged countless hours on ED, and I've never had a CTD. Sorry you're having that problem, though. Hopefully you'll discover the cause soon. It's an awesome game.

There's something very wrong with that man's nose; it seems to be attached to his cheek. (Just look and see where his right eye is in that first pane!)

I thought I had. But this angers me. I tried to reassure myself by finding some Peanuts comics on Google images, to make sure their eyes were on the correct side of their nose when drawn in profile. Thankfully, the kids only have one eye visible when seen from the side.

Much to my horror, though, Snoopy appears to be similarly deformed to this Frenchman. It appears that we've been fooled for all these years.

Also, what were the chances that FGR would find a comic in response to my attack by the very same author? Has he read over a million of these strips?

I'm enjoying it so far despite the crashes. I'm thinking of getting an Adder, but undecided so far. I don't even know if I want to explore, pirate, trade, mine, etc. It would be kind of awesome to just go off in no particular direction with a fuel scoop and see if anything interesting pops up.

Of course they're over $100 million now but that's not the purpose behind the BUMP. Although the following clip is worth watching in its entirety on its own merritts, there is an interesting bit of Star Wars trivia that I don't recall hearing before.
