Elon Musk

I live in a town where public transit is totally free, and I still hear most people at school *****ing about the lack of parking.

Matt Yglesias at Vox has done some work on this. He talked a bit about it in this episode of his podcast: https://soundcloud.com/vox-the-weeds/its-finally-infrastructure

So I guess the last Tesla investor's call went poorly, with Musk refusing to answer some questions. With Tesla burning cash at the rate it is, and Model 3 production still too low.. well the stock's not doing well today, despite the supporter buoy.

Reminds me vaguely of:

Elon Musk is a genius. Clearly he has come up with some brilliant way to keep Tesla solvent without new investment or debt, and now he’s manipulating Wall Street into tanking the Tesla share price so he can buy it back at a huge discount and make trillions.
2018-05-03, 3:17 PM #127
That car they shot into space is one Model 3 that won't be delivered to a paying customer. It's like, hey, maybe the stock wouldn't be tanking if he kept more of his cars on earth, y'know?

I tried watching it twice but I can't figure out what's going on.

What's going on there?

And here we have Musk lying to save face, he cut off, at different times, Toni Sacconaghi and Joseph Spak, who both have "hold" recommendations on Tesla stock.

I find Reid to be slightly weirdly interested in the life of Elon Musk.

Is he really that interesting of a guy? Or maybe Reid is just antsy for the day that Musk falls from his god-like status.

You got me! Classic psychology here, secretly I'm just envious of the guy or am gay for him or something.

He's an interesting person, the only thing which grinds my gears is his cult following. Tesla is not doing well, so it's relevant news.

How are you?

I have a very strong opinion about the decorum shown by a former executive of an illegal bank during a conference call for a failing luxury automaker, and it is

I feel very strongly that I don't have a strong opinion right now

I know we're way past talking about him but I can't help point out that Elon's verging on a meltdown, attacking the "fake media" and wanting to create his own watchdog group and threatening illegal retaliation against union workers on Twitter. And it seems social media is getting past his "rocket Jesus" image and realized he's the hollow narcissist he always was, which is enough for me.
2018-05-24, 11:04 PM #149
I know I can't think of a single historical precedent for a billionaire deciding the media is inconvenient and launching a conspiracy to discredit them.

https://gizmodo.com/increasingly-agitated-elon-musk-labels-diver-who-mocked-1827611345

One of the divers involved in rescuing the Thai kids from the cave was blunt and rather rude when asked about the equipment provided onto the scene by Elon Musk's people. Musk responded by saying the man was suspect and then outright calling him a pedophile.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Heh, watching this guy destroy his reputation is pretty satisfying. At least now I think there's not a person left with a shred of sanity who can say he's not an *******.

Elon Musk donates to republican PAC!
http://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-political-donations-2018-7
also he gave similar amounts to democrat PACs and campaigns but those headlines don't get clicks
2018-07-16, 9:49 AM #159
I keep seeing people post/bring up that he gave money to republicans but I can't figure out what I am supposed to feel about it. I assumed he was buying everybody? I'm really getting tired of hearing people have entire conversations that are just clickbait titles being spoken when I am around humans.

If you work in an industry that needs to interact with the government regularly, it probably doesn't hurt to be on good terms with congressmen from both parties. I suspect he was hedging his bets and trying to win favor from congressmen from both parties. I don't really get what the big deal is with this.
