One lyrics

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

DON'T THINK TWICE IT'S ALRIGHT Lyrics
BOB DYLAN Lyrics

It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe

If you don't know by now

An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe

It don't matter,anyhow

When your rooster crows at the break of dawn

Look out your window and I'll be gone

You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on

Don't think twice,it's all right

It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe

That light I never knowed

An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe

I'm on the dark side of the road

Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say

To try and make me change my mind and stay

We never did too much talkin' anyway

Don't think twice,it's all right

It ain't no use in callin' out my name, babe

Like you never did before

It ain't no use in callin' out my name, babe

I can't hear you anymore

I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road

I once loved aw woman,a child I'm told

I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul

Don't think twice,it's all right

I'm walkin' down that long,lonesome road,babe

Where I'm bound,I can't tell

But goodbye's too good a word,babe

So I'll just say fare thee well

I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind

You could have done better but I don't mind

You just kinda wasted my precious time

But don't think twice,it's all right

..............................

Cher If I could Turn Back Time Lyrics

I don’t know why I did the things I did
I don’t know why I said the things I said
Pride’s like a knife, it can cut deep inside
Words are like weapons, they wound sometimes
I didn’t really mean to hurt you
I didn’t wanna see you go
I know I made you cry
But baby

Chorus
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I’d take back those words that have hurt you
And you’d stay
If I could reach the stars
I’d give them all to you
Then you’d love me, love me
Like you used to do
If I could turn back

My world was shattered, I was torn apart
Like somebody took a knife
And drove it deep in my heart
When you walked out that door
I swore that I didn’t care
But I lost every thing darling then and there
Too strong to tell you I was sorry
Too proud to tell you I was wrong
I know that I was blind, and darling

Chorus

Sonata Arctica - The Misery

I write the lines you want me to, with the words.
I dare to use of all the ones that you have taught me, along the years.

You cast a perfect shadow on the paper.
Fade away with sunlight, I fear the way you know me, love can leave a stain...

You steal my only hope and make me stay awake another night.
I wish you bear with me, stay near me.
When the autumn leaves have fallen. Solitude, my pain, the last thing left of me...

If you fall I'll catch, if you love I'll love, and so it goes, my dear, don't be scared,
you'll be safe, this I swear.
If you only love me back.

Seven lonely lies written on Deadwinter's night,
open the only book with the only poem I can read...
In blood I sign my name and seal the midnight with a tear.
Burn the paper, every line for them I cried...

If you fall I'll catch, if you love I'll love, and so it goes, my dear, don't be scared,
you'll be safe, this I swear.
If you only love me back.

I am the Playwrite and you are my Crown, make me cry for your love,
like you've done many times, so I know.
I can't write these storylines without you, lady pain, make me strong,
can't we be together without them forever...

The words I write can only hurt you, sorry for the rain.
Thank you, my only one, you gave me this pain...I leave you gently on the floor,
take one step towards the door.
Where's the letter never written, good night now...

If you fall I'll catch, if you love I'll love, and so it goes, my dear, don't be scared,
you'll be safe, this I swear.
If you only love me back.

If you fall I'll catch, if you love I'll love, and so it goes, my dear, don't be scared,
you'll be safe, this I swear.
If you only love me back.

One is a very powerful song. My favorite version is the one where it is Michael Stipe and Peter Buck from REM with U2's rythm section.
For me:

Toad the Wet Sprocket- Always Changing Probably

I wanted to follow you
Down to your well-furnished cave
And to laugh at your art
I wanted to tell you the truth
But I'm always afraid
That you'll be torn apart
Say the word
And I'll tell you you're wrong
Say the word
I've been waiting for so long

But when you talk
There's nothing to hear
I'm always changing
You're too far or too near

I wanted to tell her the truth
But I'm always afraid
That it's not in her heart
I wanted to say how I felt
But I'm always afraid
That she'll stop when I start
Say the word
When we're there at her home
Say the word
'Cause I don't want to be alone

But when she talks
She's all that I hear
How can I help it
You are always too near

-----------------------

Toad the Wet Sprocket- I Will Not Take These Things for Granted

One part of me just wants to tell you everything
One part just needs the quiet
And if I'm lonely here, I'm lonely here
And on the telephone
You offer reassurance

I will not take these things for granted

How can I hold the part of me that only you can carry
It needs a strength I haven't found
But if it's frightning, I'll bear the cold
And on the telephone
You offer warm asylum

I'm listening
Flowers in the garden
Laughter in the hall
Children in the park
I will not take these things for granted
Anymore

To crawl inside the wire and feel something near me
To feel this accepting
That it is lonely here, but not alone
And on the telephone
You offer visions dancing

I'm listening
Music in the bedroom
Laughter in the hall
Dive into the ocean
Singing by the fire
Running through the forest
And standing in the wind
In rolling canyons

I will not take these things for granted
------------------
Toad the Wet Sprocket- Fly From Heaven

Paul is making me nervous
Paul is making me scared
Walk into this room and swaggers like God's own messenger
Change the name of my brother
Change the things that he said
Says that he speaks to him
But he never even knew the man

Like water through my hands
You'd give him any ending
But if he's all you say
Would he fly from heaven
To this world again
To this world again

Take whatever you're needing
Take whatever you can
We are broken from within
Run to another land

Water through my hands
Or is it just beginning
But if he's all you say
Would he fly from heaven
To this world again
To this world again

They took my brother
They ripped him from me
To twist his words as they did his body
Denied his family
Denied his beauty
To lay him down at the feet
Of those he couldn't save
Couldn't save, couldn't save

Will it be the end
Or is he still ascending
But if he's all you say
Would he fly from heaven
To this world again
To this world again

-------
Toad the Wet Sprocket- Amnesia

Here, I need your help
Deliver me from myself
Take me where I'm wanted
Or make me someone else
Never mind what they said
Forget about the things you read
It was something you'll never know
Never see, never understand
Just leave it now if you can
Tell me

Chorus:
When they come for you
Who will there be to speak
And when they come for you
Who will be left to speak for you

The final solution's back in style
We are the ones letting it ride
I never knew we were so blind
Amnesia in comfort, so unkind
Tell me

(Chorus)

Frank Sinatra - It Had to be You

Why do I do just as you say?
Why must I just give you your way?
Why do I sigh?
Why don't I try to forget?

It must have been that something Lovers call fate
Kept me saying I had to wait
I saw them all
Just couldn't fall 'til we met

It had to be you
It had to be you
I wandered around and I finally found
The somebody who
could make me be true
And could make me be blue
And even be glad, just to be sad
Thinking of you

Some others I've seen
Might never be mean
Might never be cross
Or try to be boss
But they wouldn't do

For nobody else
Gave me a thrill
With all your faults
I love you still

It had to be you
Wonderful you
It had to be you

--------------------------------------------

Johnny Cash - I Still Miss Someone

At my door
The leaves are fallin'
The cold wild wind will come
Sweethearts walk by together
And I still miss someone

I go out on a party
And look for a little fun
But I find the darkened corner
'Cause I still miss someone

Oh I never got over those blue eyes
I see them everywhere
I miss those arms that held me
When all the love was there
I wonder if she's sorry
For leaving what we'd begun
There's someone for me somewhere
And I still miss someone
"I got kicked off the high school debate team for saying 'Yeah? Well, **** you!'
... I thought I had won."

MY WAY LYRICS
FRANK SINATRA

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.

I’ve lived a life that’s full.
I’ve traveled each and ev’ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried.
I’ve had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

Frank Sinatra Lyrics
Something Stupid Lyrics

I know I stand in line, until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance, I know that there’s a chance
You won’t be leaving with me

And afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: I love you

I can see it in your eyes, that you despise the same old lies
You heard the night before
And though it’s just a line to you, for me it’s true
It never seemed so right before

I practice every day to find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
But then I think I’ll wait until the evening gets late
And I’m alone with you

The time is right your perfume fills my head, the stars get red
And oh the night’s so blue
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: I love you
(I love you, I love you,...)

.......................

Frank Sinatra
"You'll Never Know" Lyrics

Darling, I’m so blue without you
I think about you the live-long day
When you ask me if I’m lonely
Then I only have this to say

You’ll never know just how much I miss you
You’ll never know just how much I care
And if I tried, I still couldn’t hide my love for you
You ought to know, for haven’t I told you so
A million or more times?

You went away and my heart went with you
I speak your name in my ev’ry prayer
If there is some other way to prove that I love you
I swear I don’t know how
You’ll never know if you don’t know now

You’ll never know just how much I miss you
You’ll never know just how much I care
You said good-bye, no stars in the sky refuse to shine
Take it from me, it’s no fun to be alone
With moonlight and memories

................................

Frank Sinatra
Be Careful It's My Heart Lyrics

Be careful, it’s my heart,
It’s not my watch you’re holding, it’s my heart.
It’s not the note that I sent you that you quickly burn,
It’s not a book I lent you that you never return.
Remember, it’s my heart.
The heart with which so willingly I part
It’s yours to take, to keep or break,
But please, before you start,
Be careful, it’s my heart.

Did Frank Sinatra himself actually write those lyrics?
I'm pretty sure all his songs were written for him.

no he didn't write them, but noone sings um like Frank! :) If I lived back then he'd be my celeb crush! I'm telling ya, he was smooth.

I have always liked the old movies (around Frank's time) and I always watch them, but nothing beats the movies Frank himself was in. His voice is magic:D

Nightwish - Kuolema Tekee Taitelijan

Kerran vain haaveeni nähdä sain
En pienuutta alla tähtien tuntenut
Kerran sain kehtooni kalterit
Vankina sieltä kirjettä kirjoitan

Luojani, luoksesi anna minun tulla siksi miksi lapseni minua luulee

Sinussa maailman kauneus
Josta kuolema teki minusta taiteilijan

Luojani, luoksesi anna minun tulla siksi miksi lapseni minua luulee

Oman taivaan tänne loin
Anna minun päästä pois

Children Of Bodom - Kissing The Shadows

Hight above yer shadow smiles at me.
Way down below I hear your serenely breathe.

I`m running after you throughout
the valleys of tormented souls,
don`t you be afraid of me only kissing your shadows...
You`re so far away, I can your scent,
when i carries your shadow,
and if you truly want I`ll cross the line I`ll follow.

I`m dreaming my way out from down below.
To get wherever you haunting from, I`ll go...
I`m kissing the shadows you surround me with,
to feel my pain vanishing away from me.
Your touching the shadows I`m surrounding you with,
so together in pease we shall be.

I`m running after you throughout
the valleys of tormented souls,
don`t you be afraid of me only kissing your shadows...
You`re so far away, I can your scent,
when i carries your shadow,
and if you truly want I`ll cross the line I`ll follow.

Woohoo, someone's actually read mine!
I'll post more later, I barely scratched the surface.

I'm not a big fan of Frank, but I haven't heard much of his stuff. He was quite a singer. I don't like his personality much.

When he was first given My Way, he didn't want to do it because he thought it was just pop schmaltz. He obviously changed his mind.
I think the song is a little on the pretentious side, but I still kind of like it.
Elvis actually did a lot to make it famous. He sang it on his final tour, and it moved a lot of people.

The Sex Pistols version is interesting. Sid Vicious sang it though, and I hate Sid Vicious.

Elliott - Blue Storm

Is your faith a bird in darkness? Broken glass. A moments note. Flash of lights strobes ages. End will lie? The windows broke. We're destroyed by you. Blue storms that roll. Step outside. Kissing rain fall. Tasting like blue and gold. Splash of light, sends you airborne. Crashing out, and catching on. Tear drop eyes soak the pavement. Let it fall, let it fall. Charcoal blue city is swimming in petals. All are believing none are alarmed. Let it fall. Landslide.

Ryan McDougall - Darling of Deceit

Has anybody seen my love?
She's been gone for many nights.
I watched her from the pass above as she fell out of my sight.
Has anybody seen her?
She's beauty head to toe.
Has anybody seen her down by the Ohio?

She loved me once, I loved her twice
To her no one compares
But for romance I paid the price
and fell into despair.
I prayed for death when she confessed to love another man
My lover who's so sweet and true had played me like the band

The river's deep and flowing fast and icy as the heart
I pushed her off the bridge headfirst from life she had to part

Before she went over the side and down a hundred feet,
I bound her legs and kissed goodbye, my darling of deceit

Has anybody seen my love?
She's been gone for many nights.
I watched her from the pass above as she fell out of my sight.
Has anybody seen her?
She's beauty head to toe.
Has anybody seen her down by the Ohio?
Has anybody seen her down by the Ohio?

Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones

Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and faith
And I was ’round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general’s rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what’s confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
’cause I’m in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I’ll lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
Tell me baby, what’s my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, what’s my name
I tell you one time, you’re to blame
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
What’s me name
Tell me, baby, what’s my name
Tell me, sweetie, what’s my name
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah

I like most of the lyrics to that song, but that's got to be one of the worst rhymes I've ever seen.
It's probably not as bad when he sings it though.

Toad the Wet Sprocket- Scenes from a Vinyl Recliner
" High on a wire
Poised for an imminent fall
Clowns always smile
Greasepaint and lust in their pores
Start to sway and I hold your hand
Fall, the smile surrounds his head
Hot ashes, clay
Hot ashes, fade

To lean, to err, too far along for me
To wait around, to smile is to accept

In center ring
Rolling in sawdust and hay
Covered in paint
Damn everything but the circus
Damn the men and the women who stare
At the freaks in the cages and snares
Hot ashes, clay
Hot ashes, fade

To win, to err, to fall too far for safety
To lean, to wait a while is too easy
To lean towards, to fall to far for me
To wait a while around is too easy
To lean too long, to fall too far for safety
To seem, to smile, to lie is to accept"

------------------
Toad the Wet Sprocket- Silo Lullabye
" Green button like a lantern
Illuminates this cavern
And outside nothing matters anymore

My instinct won't deceive me
My senses will not leave me
When there's no one left to grieve me, i won't mourn

Good night, don't fear
I always will watch over you my dear
Good night, sleep well
I'll see you with the rest of them in hell

My hand won't shake the console
My handcuff will not rattle
As i win the final battle of all wars

And down beneath the ocean
I'll dream of wings in motion
Of blinding glory, that'll show 'em what freedom's for

Good night, don't fear
I always will watch over you my dear
Good night, sleep well
I'll see you with the rest of them in hell

And so, for now, farewell..."
------------------
Toad the Wet Sprocket- Dam Would Break
"s it this place that makes me fall from you
Forget the words that once rang so true
Did we expect that life was ever fair, my god...
I sowed a field of rose and reaped a whipping rod

And everything I've held too tight inside
Could make a part of me die
And if my lips could only speak the name
The dam would break

What is this ice that gathers 'round my heart
To stop the flood of warmth before it even starts
It would make me blind to what I thought would always be
The only constant in the world for me

And every hour of every day
I need to fight from pulling away
And if my mind could only loose the chain
The dam would break
For all the things I hid away
And all the words I could not say
The dam would break "
------------
Toad the Wet Sprocket- Before You Were Born
" How can it happen that every time
You ask us this question the answer seems like a lie
You know what we're saying and you know what it means
And it's always sincere God knows
But it never gets through to where you need

Chorus:
Before you were born someone kicked in the door
There's no place for you here, stay back where you belong
Before you were born someone kicked in the door
You are not wanted here, stay back where you belong

God damn the people who left you in pain
God damn the father without face, without name
And God damn the lovers who never showed up
And God damn the wounds that show how deep a word can cut
(Chorus)

And how can it happen now that you know the cause
That nothing is changing and everything's wrong
But pain is the healing and the tears sting like alcohol
Just keep on there breathing
We'll help you down the long, long road back home "
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Yes... yes... you're taking the bait... now I just need to spring the trap somehow...
BTW, Glen Phillips is the other guy I talk about a lot, he was the singer in Toad and wrote all the lyrics.

Wanna know something else amazing? He was 14 when they started. Many of the songs on the first album he wrote the lyrics to when he was 16 or younger. He was 17 or 18 when they recorded the first album. Some of the earlier songs that are on here are:
Always Changing Probably
Scenes from a Vinyl Recliner

Well, there's more too.

I'll check that song out later. Right now I'm at the school library (I don't feel like working on my homework yet)
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Immortal Technique - Peruvian Cocaine

*Two Men Speak in Spanish*

[Immortal Technique - Worker]
I'm on the border of Bolivia, working for pennies
Treated like a slave, the coke fields have to be ready
The spirit of my people is starving, broken and sweaty
Dreaming about revolution (REVOLUTION!) looking at my machete
But the workload is too heavy to rise up in arms
And if I ran away, I know they'd probably murder my moms
So I pray to "Heso Preisto" when I go to the mission
Process the cocaine, paced and play my position

[Pumpkinhead - Cocaine Field Boss]
Ok, listen while I'm out there, just give me my product
Before we chop off ya hands for worker's misconduct
I got the power to shoot a copper, and not get charged
And it would be sad to see your family in front of a firing squad
So to feed your kids, I need these bricks
40 tons in total, let me test it, indeed I (*sniff*)
****, this is good, pass me a tissue
And don't worry about them, I paid off the officials

[Diabolic - Peruvian Leader]
Yo, it don't come as a challenge, I'm the son of some of the foulest
Elected by my people...the only one on the ballot
Born and bred to consult with feds, I laugh at fate

And assassinate my predecessor to have his place
In a third-world fashion state, lock the nation
With 90% of the wealth in 10% of the population
The Central Intelligence Agency takes weight faithfully
The finest type of China white and cocaine you'll see

[Tonedeff - American Drug Distributor]
Honey I'm home, nevermind why our bank account's suddenly grown
It's funny, we're so out of this debt from this money we owe
Woulda ya...mind if I told you I had two governments overthrown
To keep our son enrolled in a private school, and to keep ya tummy swollen
C'mon, our ****in' home was built on the foundation of bloody throats
The hungry stolen of they souls, of course this country's runnin' coke
I took a stunted oath to hush the one's who know
But CIA conducts the flow of these young hustlers who lust for dough

[Poison Pen - Drug Dealer]
I don't work in the hood (Hit my connect)
Plus what's really good, they supply for the hood
These dudes ****ing crack me up, scrutinize like we inferior
Petrified when we meet in my area (calm down)
My dude's'll shoot until I say so, got the loot?
Give me the YAY YAY like Ice Cube, so don't play with my llello
We won't stop for you bastards
Must choose (?), chop it and bag it

[Loucipher - Undercover Police Officer]
Taking pictures and tapping phones
Debating snitches and cracking codes
Past a couple, blast the fo',
Want any hustler stacking dough with probably crack the blow
And my overtime is where your taxes go
I gain your trust
Get you to hand weight to us because we paid up front
On the low with cameras taping ya
Getting pop away? The prison sentence is going to
Make the officer leave with two ki's out the evidence room

[C-Rayz Walz - Prison Inmate]
Out the evidence room (*Said with Loucipher*)
Went my fame, truck, boat or plane, they watching you
You think you got work? They copping too
We control blocks, they lock countries
Ya own companies, we had nice cars and sneaker money
Now there's players out there, talking 'bout the holding
With bugs in they house like they down South with windows open
Your dough ain't long, you wrong, you take shorts and (?)
Feds will be up in your mouth...like forks and spoons
So enjoy the rush, live plush off Coke bread
Soon you'll be in a cell with me, like Jenny Lopez
In school, I was a bully, now life is fully a joke
I keep a flow on a boat for Peruvian Coke
Players do favors for governers and tax makers
Fat Quakers smoke crack and sex acts with bad mayors
The walls got ears, you big mouths probably scared
Not prepared to do years like Javier

[Immortal Technique Speaking]
The story just told is an example of the path that
drugs take on their way to every neighborhood, in
every state of this country. It's a lot deeper than
the niggas on your block. So when they point the
finger at you, brother men, this is what you've got to tell them:
Got a permanent feather in my cap;
Got a stretch to my stride;
a stroll to my step;
2004-09-29, 2:15 PM #25
Schming, that song's not up anymore.
I'm glad you didn't get offended at my remark about the lyrics. It comes off really bad when you try to read it, but I think it actually would work fine in a song.
I love it when songs mention places like that. It's once reason I love Counting Crows.

I'll take a break from Toad lyrics and post some from Atmosphere, a hip-hop band.

Atmosphere- If I Was Santa Claus

If I was a rich man
I'd buy you some shoes
Tall boots for all the dirt you walk through
What would that do?
Enable you to deal
Without schooling you on how to touch what's real
And if I was a smart man
I'd tell you everything that I knew
And give it to you every time you need a talking to
But what would that do?
Teach you my guidelines
So you can be a cheerleader at your game on the sidelines
And if I was a driver
I'd keep my headlights on
To see the difference between right and wrong
I'd wear my seatbelt even when I'm in park
Cause I don't trust the other fools that cruise through these parts
And if I was a better cook
I'd hook up a feast
Set a table full of food for the children to eat
I encourage the nourishment so we can breathe
With the knowledge that we got something accomplished

Chorus:
And if I was Santa Claus, I'd fight for the cause
Wouldn't expect nothing in return
I'd give you everything you want, I'd be everything you need
So you can take my hand and I can take the lead

And if I was an honest man
I would stop writing songs
I'd break for a nervous breakdown for breakfast
Tell everyone I knew to stay away from making music
It ain't nothing but a confusing mess (confusing mess)
And if I was you, I wouldn't hear a word I said
Wouldn't trust nothing to start it up inside my head
I'd make a conscious effort to live instead
Of trying to kill the monsters that reside underneath the bed
And if I was a hurt man
I'd find a way to put my faith
Into a woman that could take me from today
Maybe
I need somebody that could save me
From the parts of myself that keep making me crazy
And if I was a wise man
I'd climb to the top of the mountain peak
To think about strength versus weakness
I'd find a point that rests a couple of feet above your head
And figure out how I could try to help you reach it
(Ho ho ho)
And if I did have a choice
I'd never want to live forever
Just let me have a voice so I can make my points
I can't imagine running a race with no finish line
Just let me keep my pace and make to most of my time
I love giving but I'm bad at receiving
The truth is, I'd prefer to be the one bleeding
But I'm a paranoid that stays between play and work
Cautious and aware, 'cause I'm afraid of being hurt
Which brings me to the issue
And that would be this:
How often must I ask myself why I exist?
I feel like a freak, this world is a circus
Just trying to find myself as well as my purpose

Chorus:
And if I was Santa Claus, I'd fight for the cause
Wouldn't expect nothing in return
I'd give you everything you want, I'd be everything you need
And you can take my hand and I can take the lead (2x)

I got nothing but gifts
Keep it up in my wits
Got me drunk on the fifth
And now we're stuck in a ditch
And as dumb as it gets
I'mma run you some fibs (?)
I wanna touch your lips
I wanna rub your hips
Put a glove on the fist
For the love that exists
We'll keep bumping the hits
To get my bucket of chips
From the Bloods and the Crips
To the skateboarding chicks
Put the Atmosphere on your Christmas wishlist (2x)
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

We Are The Same
This is my Reason for leaving
This is my heart And it's bleeding
There's no reason to run
There's no reason to hide

Can you admit, We are the same X4

This is my Reason for Living
This is my Heart and it's bleeding
There's no reason to run
From misery to cry

Can you admit, We are the same X4

You came to, Me with this
Reason of why we missed this
I want to, Fix this too
Let's let the greed disappear

We should be together
Can you admit we are the same

..................................

Orgy
Pure Lyrics

Kick me when I'm down

Put me away again
Every now and then
Your bottle spinning my fate
As I hold my breath
And you say you don't want any part of this now
Where did it go so wrong

I guess I'm finally finding out
It's got me tripping now
The little things, everywhere I go
It's such a shame
Why you held on, so long
Why don't you confuse me a little more?
Confuse me

And I never thought that you
Who would believe that I wasn't good enough?
Those things I never thought you'd do
You got the best of me

You got the best of me, when you said you didn't love me anymore
And I know, this will be the last time

You've got me, running in circles like a freak
So why do you try, to kick me when I'm down
I'm down, all the way down

Put me away again
Every now and then
Your bottle spinning my fate
While I hold my breath
Don't sweat the lies that you say I control
Confuse me a little more
(Confuse me)

And I never thought that you
Who would believe that I wasn't good enough?
Those things I never thought you'd do
You got the best of me
You and all your secrets don't need me
You got the best of me, when you said you didn't love me anymore
And I know, this will be the last time
You've got me, running in circles like a freak
So why do you try to, kick me when I'm down
I'm down

So when you say you've let me go, let me go
'Cause you didn't care about this, sorry you
I guess you'll be all right
Now that you've got things to go your way

How could you be like this?
This it the last time but you don't hear me though

You got the best of me, when you said you didn't love me anymore
And I know, this will be the last time
You've got me, running in circles like a freak
So why do you try to, kick me when I'm down
I don't understand the way
That you're thinking, thinking, Andrea

Who could believe that I wasn't good enough?
Who could believe that I wasn't good enough?
Confuse me a little more
Who would believe that I wasn't good enough?
Who could believe that I wasn't good enough?

.......................................

Orgy
Stitches

If it stayed i'd never leave it
If that turned around
I'd grieve the special dirty things that we used to talk about
I mean that loving you is strange
And adored by me throughout oh no it's you again
Someday soon you'll find that someone
Waiting for the chance to beat you
Drooling on the set to feel you
Blessing you with every kiss

Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill
Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill

Such the patient one who needs me
The spoiled one who wins
So shocking where's your sense
Don't you know i hate you, ohoh
Unsatisfied,you little girl.

Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill
Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill

Rolling dice and seeming queer
******* love,a sick affair
Let's see what new disease you'll fetch
I mean that ****ing you is strange
And adored by me throughout
Oh no it's you again
Blessing you with every kiss

So precious you know this hate of mine exploded
I'm so deranged you know
I will never be the same

Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill
Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill

Jump, Little Children - Cathedrals

In the shadows of tall buildings
Of fallen angels on the ceilings
Oily feathers in bronze and concrete
Faded colors, peices left incomplete
The line moves slowly past the electric fence
Across the borders between continents

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

In the shadows of tall buildings
The architecture is slowly peeling
Marble statues and glass dividers
Someone is watching all of the outsiders
The line moves slowly through the numbered gate
Past the mosaic of the head of state

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

In the shadows of tall buildings
Of open arches endlessly kneeling
Sonic landscapes echoing vistas
Someone is listening from a safe distance
The line moves slowly into a fading light
A final moment in the dead of night

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

Yeah, in the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is
"Those ****ing amateurs... You left your dog, you idiots!"

Jump - Darkest Love (2 singers, one is the melody, the other is spoken word in the background)

Lie with me somewhere in the sleeping stars
Darling lie with me somewhere on the edge of light
Lie with me in tall wet grass

Darling lie with me somewhere on the edge of night
Somewhere where we can be just you and me
I believe in the absence of sun
I believe in the shadow of one
I believe in the power of two
I believe in the darkness of you

My love, my love, my darkest love

Lie with me
somewhere on the desert haze
Darling lie with me somewhere on the virgin sand
Lie with me on warm black stone

Darling lie with me
somewhere on the frozen strand
Somewhere where we can be just you and me
I believe in the absence of sun
I believe in the shadow of one

I believe in the power of two
I believe in the darkness of you

My love, my love
My darkest love
My love ,my love
My darkest love

All I need is you to show me the light
All I need is you to show me the light
All I need is for you to show me the light
Show me, show me,
Show me the light
Show me, show me,
Show me the light
Ahhhhh....

----------------------------------------------------------------

[Matt's Part:]

In the still of the nights I lie close to your face
The moon is a spotlight in this quiet space
If we stand here like statues and don't say a word
We will not be seen we will not be heard
The stillness has purpose its own subtle dance
If we move just an inch we have ruined this chance
Its the dark that is key here, its cruelness has strength
Its shadows hold mysteries, locked at great lenghts

Black like the firey red words in hand
And black like a crow flying low to the sand
While I propose to the absence of light
Whose others are smokey and nowhere in sight
When we hear the skull fall and cannot be seen
And we feel the sting beneathe between
Tell me dreams in the dark that you won't share by day
The way we discovered to hold dawn at bay

Now all I need is for you to show me the light, show me the light, show me the light
All I need is for you the show me the light, show me the light, show me the light
------------------------------------------------------

...needless to say when they emailed their mailing list to make up a setlist for their Atlanta show I chose this one.

If you want to hear it, go here: http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=13128

this show has the best quality recording of it since it's unreleased. the site is totally legal for those of you who've never heard of [url]www.archive.org[/url] WARNING all files are in SHN so you have to have a decoder. the only person i really expect to care enough is dry gear and he probably already has a SHN decoder. if not, you can search google for one. i used the mkw audio compressor.

Desert Rose Lyrics

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams that tie two hearts that will never die
And near the flames
The shadows play in the shape of the man's desire

This desert rose
Whose shadow bears the secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume that would torture you more than this

And now she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
The rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Whose shadow bears the secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume that would torture you more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower, this rare perfume
Is the sweet intoxication of the fall

I do have an SHN decoder, but I don't wanna download a whole show. Name a good song for me.
My hard drive isn't big enough for many SHN songs.

Archive.org puts up lots of Toad and Glen shows too.
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

All right, I'll download it tomorrow. For now, I'll post some Glen Phillips lyrics.

This song is about a story that Ben Folds told Glen. They were hanging out at the same club or something. Anyway, Glen said "you should make that into a song!"* but Ben Folds said "nah, you can go ahead though"*. So Glen did. Glen added all the stuff about making promises to God, that wasn't part of the original story.

*not exact quotes, but they get the idea across.

Glen Phillips- Drive By

I was the driver for the drive-by of the neighbor's dog
Dad had always hated him so he said "Come on son,
"Get into the Vega now and I'll go get my shotgun"
It was a military holiday and kids were everywhere
I hid behind the steering wheel and tried to disappear
I tried to speak but couldn't, Dad was whistling and drinking beer

And I prayed "Dear God, if You save this dog
"I will never get high, I will never jack off
"I will be all the things that I should but have not
"I'll be a good boy from now on"

We turned around the corner soon and saw the neighbor's yard
Dad lit up a cigarette and rolled his window down
And grinning like an idiot he stuck his head and body out

And I prayed "Dear God, if You save this dog
"I will never get high, I will never jack off
"I will be all the things that I should but have not
"I'll be a good boy from now on"

Well he popped in a shell and took aim with the gun
Then a flash and a bang and the dog it was gone
Jumped up and he ran away
Dad had shot right through his chain

Dad said "Take me to the Dairy Freeze, I want to have a shake"
We sipped them on the benches there and stared out on the lake
And Dad has never said another word about that day

And I hope you're not disappointed, God
'Cause I still get high and I still jack off
And you knew I was lying but you still saved that dog
You're such a good God
Such a good, good God
You're such a good God-damned backwards dog
And I'll be a good boy from now on
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Ray Charles feat Diana Krall

You Don't Know Me Lyrics

You give your hand to me
And then you say, "Hello."
And I can hardly speak,
My heart is beating so.
And anyone can tell
You think you know me well.
Well, you don't know me.
(no you don't know me)
No you don't know the one
Who dreams of you at night;
And longs to kiss your lips
And longs to hold you tight
Oh I'm just a friend.
That's all I've ever been.
Cause you don't know me.
(no you don't know me)
For I never knew the art of making love,
Though my heart aches with love for you.
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by.
A chance that you might love me too.
(love me too)
You give your hand to me,
And then you say, "Goodbye."
I watched you walk away,
Beside the lucky guy
Oh, you'll never ever know
The one who loved you so.
Well, you don't know me
(For I never knew the art of making love, )
(Though my heart aches with love for you. )
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by.
A chance that you might love me too.
(love me too)
Oh, you give your hand to me,
And then you say, "Goodbye."
I watched you walk away,
Beside the lucky guy
Oh, you'll never ever know
The one who loved you so.
Well, you don't know me
(you don't love me, you don't know me)

Here's a friendly, uplifting song.

Quote:
Fluke - Switch/Twitch

It's time to begin
Start out over again
What you is, what you been
Forget everything

All the love that you made
All the joy and the pain
All the anger and hate
Rewind and erase

Turn it on, listen in, turn it on, listen in

Protect and survive
You're better alive
Take a step to the side
Relax and revive

Turn it on, listen in, turn it on, listen in

It's easy to change
Go out and get a new name
Forget yesterday
Tap your troubles away
Tap your troubles away, tap your troubles away

And a very very funny one.

Quote:
Fluke - Absurd

King kong in Cannes
On a date with Spiderman
Dan Dar's sitting there
Scared by the killer teddy bears
Down town Mini Mouse
Is slippin Micky's in the famous grouse
While big bird spreads the word
Anybody with a heart votes love

Judge Dredd found dead
Face down in Snoopy's bed
Outside Tweetie pie's
Getting itchy on more supplies
Meanwhile Snow White
Gets ready for work tonight
Turning tricks with crystal tips
Tying to make the best of it's absurd

Puppy dogs and pussy cats
In suspect suicide attacks
Captain Kirk from planet earth
Fights it out with Papa Smurf
Some phoney little ponies
Preying on old and lonely
Making friends robbing them
The X Men taught them everything

Betty Boop tired of life
Took vows became a bride of Christ
While Tin Tin's been playing
At Caesar's palace live on ice
Babar Kumbayahs
With the mighty morphin movie stars
As big bird spreads the word
Anybody with a heart votes love

The best words spoken in any song to me, are these simple words in "Keep Ya Head Up" by Tupac Shakur...

"It's funny....They got money for wars, but they can't feed the poor.."

I've never thought so much about how true lyrics were in a song until I heard these words. And it's true.

So true! he was a true lyricist. He always stated that rapping was like Ghetto Poetry. Being raised by a woman who was a part of the Black Panther movement he was very politically motivated and aware of the world around him. Have You read his poetry book? I bought it as soon as it came out. If you havent read it, I suggest buying it. it's really good. It's Called "The Rose that grew from Concrete"

The Rose That Grew From Concrete

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack
in the concrete
Proving nature's laws wrong it learned 2 walk
without having feet
Funny it seems but by keeping its dreams
it learned 2 breathe fresh air
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else even cared!

................

A Love Unspoken

What of a love unspoken? Is it weaker without a name?
Does this love deserve 2 exist without a title
because I dare not share its name
Does that make me cruedl and cold
2 deny the world of my salvation
because I chose 2 let it grow
People tend 2 choke
that which they do not understand
Why shouldn't I be weary
and withhold this love from MAN
What of a love unspoken
no one ever knows
But this is a love that lasts
and in secrecy it grows

..................

The Power of a Smile

The power of a gun can kill
and the power of Fire can Burn
The power of the wind can chill
and the power of the mind can learn
The power of anger can rage
inside until it tears u apart
But the Power of a Smile
especially yours can heal a frozen Heart

.....................

What I See!

With my eyes closed I can c
we have a chance 2 discover ecstasy
but the clouds of doubt have made u blind
so u R afraid of the emotions that u may find
I know that u've been hurt before
but this is no excuse 4 u 2 ignore
the seed that cupid planted, in hopes that we would sow
This infant emotion deserves 2 breathe so why won't u
let it grow
A neglected flower will wither and on its own it will
surely die
But with honesty, passion, and mutual respect we can
soar beyond the sky
So please don't follow what u c follow the rhythm within
your heart
Believe in me though u cannot c what lies within the
Dark

.......................

Untitled

Strength is overcome by weakness
Joy is overcome by Pain
The night is overcome by Brightness
and Love - it remains the same

..................

"Where There Is a Will..."

Where there is a will
there is a way
2 search and discover
a better day

Where a positive heart
is all u need
2 Rise Beyond
and succeed

Where young minds grwo
and respect each other
based on their Deeds
and not their color

When times R dim
say as I say
"where there is a will
There is a way!"

.................

Ok so that's a couple of them I got carried away. But he has sooo many good poems. Some on life, some on love, some on politics. He was a great poet. Tupac was amazing!

I've never thought so much about how true lyrics were in a song until I heard these words. And it's true.

That's very similar to the theme to the music video for REM's talk about the passion. It showed a lot of homeless people and then showed military weapons.
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Boricua - You're talking to one of Tupac's #1 fans. I study his life, poetry, lyrics, influence's, etc. So yeah, I've read the book The Rose that Grew from the Concrete. :)

Dry Gear - Yeah, it's good to see a lot of artists from different genres having the same views/statements. Especially from those two different genres. Shows that we all have similar interests, needs, and goals :)

In the event of my demise
when my heart can beat no more
I hope I die for a principle
or a belief that I had lived 4
I will die b4 my time
bcuz I fell the shadows depth
So much I wanted 2 accomplish
Before I reached my death
I have come 2 grips with the possibility
& wiped the last tears from my eyes
I loved all who were positive
In the event of my demise
