Linkin Park
2005-03-02, 2:20 PM #1
Is it just me, or do they humiliate themselves at every turn. Don't get me wrong, their first cd was pretty good.... but now that they are a pop phenom, they have gotten powerfully uncool. Their uncoolness is infact SO powerful, that it could overpower "Wish"'s coolness, a great Nine Inch Nails song. Also, if this were any normal suck band, one could just turn the other cheek, yet they are played non stop ont he radio stations. It seems like every 20 minutes the radio is breached by one of their lame loops that they now have before EVERY SONG.

This is EVERY Linkin Park song you will EVER hear....

1. Cheesey loop.
2. A quick guitar riff.
3. Crappy beat plays while Mike Shonoda raps
4. The chorus comes in with chester whining one note that he holds....

REPEAT

And why would Linkin Park play a NIN song in the first place.. I would sooner expect them to play a Blink 182 song or something. (Granted they use to be an alternative band in some ways... but when they decided to Punk themselves out.. that gave them a VIOLENT shove toward Blink 182, Good Charlotte, and other crap bands)

Do what I do when there's music playing you don't like.

Turn off the radio, and stop complaining about what's on the radio. There are far more constructive things to do, like buy an MP3 or CD player.

They suck horribly when playing live, almost as bad as Evanescence.
2005-03-02, 2:24 PM #4
I do agree, Linkin Park use to be my favorite band until they brought in Jay-Z and turned there stuff into just a gimmek. They really should try something new, not the same old writing techniques. It's so predictable what will happen next with them. Another good band tunred sour.

music forum?

i dont like a band, i listen to something i like, simple.
2005-03-02, 2:24 PM #6
I do that.. I have to change the channel.. but it's REDICULAS!!! it's not like I just leave it there and listen to the crap.. of course I change it.... but I'm not even kidding every 10 mins you gotta hear chester bennington whining about how he wants to be "less like him"... well.. I guess I don't blame him.. If I were chester bennington.. I'd be crying all the time too...

That's true and evanescence is similar to Linkin Park in the respect that most....well actually all the song's sound the same. Although I do love her voice very much, I think they should change what they do..

You don't love her actual voice, you love how they edited it.

Also, teen angst nu-metal should be nuked.

As much as I like Linkin Park (pre-Jay-Z) and Evanescence, I have to agree. Hoo-boy, Chester and Evanascence are flatter than a two-dimensional plane, and Mike Shinoda just lacks any real presence in his voice.

Linkin Park are just horrible now :(
Sneaky sneaks. I'm actually a werewolf. Woof.

Now, while I liked Linkin Park, and I enjoyed their stuff, it was pretty obvious that it was generally bland.

This, however, is far from true in their "Re-animation" CD. A CD full of remixed hits. The rap in this CD is perfection. Some of the greatest beats I've ever heard, and just some damn good sound.

And I don't CARE how a band sounds in real life. I probably won't go to their concert when they come if they suck, but I more prefer that what I HEAR is ENJOYABLE when just listening to a CD. I think it's funny when people are all "That's all electronic, her voice isn't like that!" as if that changes how it sounds. It doesn't.

You, sir, are my new hero.

And thank God there are someother people in this world who think that Linkin Park sucks. Besides me and one other friend, everybody here idiolizes them. Each song is basically the same crap, just remixed slightly with a few new lyrics.

I saw Evanescence live, they weren't that bad.

And Fallen is depressingly mainstreamed. I think Wind-Up tried to get it as "pop" as it could be, because their older stuff is different, with a mixture of totally different (and better) songs.

LP... I used to like them, but I'm kind of sick of them rehashing the same emotions. Boo angst.
2005-03-02, 3:28 PM #15
Vinny would like them to invent new emotions?
2005-03-02, 3:45 PM #16
I say we abduct LP fans an force them to listen to Power Metal. Especially Dragonforce.

Amy Lee can sound good live, the band did a good live radio performance of Heart Shaped Box. The problem is that most people try too hard when singing live because they're singing to more people, as a result they start singing incorrectly and they go out of tune.

Fallen has to be the worst of the albums, Origin was excellent.

As for Linkin Park, I like a few of their songs but they were foolish for releasing Reanimation.

I enjoy Linkin Park, both their first and third CD(I never got Reanimation. I keep forgetting. >.<)

I like Evanescence.

I have the Linkin Park/Jay-Z CD and I love it.

Don't like that I like these things? Tough. :p

We're talking about LP, not Simple Plan.
2005-03-02, 4:26 PM #21
That IS Linkin Park.

:P

And a pretty good look at the majority of their fanbase.

A bunch of teen angst cases rebeling against the man, though they manage to screw it up and conform WITHOUT REALIZING IT... it boggles the mind Vinny...

Whine about the lack of originality, but they still create songs with more atmosphere than 99% of bands out there. They used to be better, but they're still good at it. As for the simple plan/blink 182/etc thing, that's just a genre. If you don't like it, quit whining and go listen to something else. Does all music on earth absolutely have to be exactly how you like it? Other people aren't allowed to like other things?
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

The only decent songs that Simple Plan did was their demo disc that came out right after Reset broke up. A couple on their first CD were ok as well, but "Just Balls" is really lousy.

I really enjoyed LP's first CD as well, I haven't really heard any of their new stuff though.

Their lyrics still suck more than a vacuum.

And I don't listen to them when I can help it.

Thank god my stereo can now drown out my little bother's stereo. And soon it will be abel to drown out my older brother's stereo.

If you listen to a radio station that plays so much Linkin Park and you don't like it, then you're listening to crappy radio stations.

I've said this before, but I'd rather listen to Linkin Park than a ton of other popular bands. Here's some bands that I'd take LP over any day.

Nine Inch Nails
Tool
Metallica
Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and all those other fluff rock bands
Evanescence
Avril Lavigne
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Linkin Park? More atmosphere than almost all other bands? Flexor, you're missing out on a good load of quality music if you actually believe that.

I hate them. With a PASSION.

And this will sound very cliche'. But they sold out.

They USED to play almost real punk. You know, the sloppy yelly screamy stuff kids in the 80's tried to emulate from the 70's but ultimately FAILED.

And now, I never liked them. But I can atleast respect a band that does their own thing... They got signed, and it was like someone snapped their friggin fingers...

Anyone who had seen them play at those rank *** little clubs down here in Maryland they used to play at before, was shocked and appauled.

I can't respect someone who forfeits artistry for a stack of cash.

You can't put down pre-black album metallica. That beats the crap outta all of the other bands out there today.

Okay I just gotta say wtf is your problem. LP rules cause there music is so true and the Collison Course Album is pretty damn good. I don't care what any one says I'm still gonna see LP when they come here (Victoira). It could just be that I'm a teen (16) and that my life sucks but their music always helps me calm down cause it is how I feel. So all those of you who hate LP. Go Listen to your crappy music and **** off.

****y **** ****. Swearing is no biggie, its the fact that your bashing everyother music genre in existence... Even though I'm a hardcore hip-hop fan I still respect 95% of music genres out there, its the fake artists/bands/sellouts that I hate.

I actually can. As long as they're honest about it. GC isn't. Even if they're honest it doesn't mean I'll like the music though.

I think people make too big of a deal about "sell-outs".
