Fact: You're an angsty teenager.

Fact: You can't possibly form an objective opinion about teen angst music.

Kthxdie.

dry gear the frog : if you don't like Nine Inch Nails, then you arn't REALLY listening to them.... I thought NIN wasn't that good either, when all I heard was Closer.. or as you probably know it "I Wanna **** You Like An Animal".... NIN is very diverse and once you actually listen to the music, you will find out that there are some of the most beautiful notes ever played, in there.... most of NIN is like a symphony...
BTW, I am a fan of classical music also...
if you truly enjoy music, then you will enjoy NIN.. u are probably just listening to the wrong songs...

I think people make too big of a deal about "sell-outs".

It irks me because I am so grossly untalented at music despite how hard I try...It's just a major piss off that anyone with a gift like that would forfeit what essentially is an extention of oneself for a stack of cash...

Which isn't to say GC is uber talented, they're ok musicians.

Eh...when Amy Lee comes out drunk, spits on the Fallen album, and all but tells the audience to go **** themselves, it kind of ruins the performance.

And my only real problem with Good Charlotte is their guitarist, Benji. First, he says, "I'm tired of rich kids trying to tell me what punk is! I'm punk!"

Then he turns around, hosts an MTV show, and helps churn out poppy songs.

Gooooooooooo Benji!

I liked Linkin Park when they first came out because their first CD was good. Then I heard it all over the radio, and realized that they werent these cool angsty anti-establishment guys like their image pushed, but were in actuality, just another made for MTV band in it for the cash. I didnt realize this until Re-Animation comes out. Any band that remixes their songs and then has the balls to charge full price for a CD of remixes is a band of old dirty bastards.

If you like the style of music, but prefer someone that can sing and write interesting songs, check out Ours.

If you just want to hear one song by Ours grab the song Fallen Souls.

I'm 15 and at first I thought that Hybrid Theory was good and had a cool name. Then the Meteoria thing came out. I heard a few songs and decided that it was crap. Reanimation proves that they are sell outs. I think the "music" my peers listen to sucks like a monkey. It's all depressing and lyrically crap. The music is all power chords. No talent involved. I know for a fact that I can sing better, play guitar better, and write better songs than most of these losers.

In short, I'm a teenager and I believe that this is not music. Same with the rap I hear these idiots listening. It's all crap. I've heard rap that wasn't crap before. It's not my thing, but I can respect some of it. Regardless, there is a lot more to life than depressing angry crap that everyone sings about nowadays.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

I don't know. I'm A Monster, Dizzy, Drowning, and Here Is The Light are better, in my opinion. Though I love I'm A Monster the most.

What I loved about Linkin Park and they're first album was its originality and they had spunk.......then they turned it into just a big circus act. They did the same exact stuff in the 2nd album but with different words, but to me it sounded the same. The only reason they ever got where they were today was luck.....and also knowing people in the buisness. I really think that they are talentless....I saw the encore with Jay-z and Linkin Park on the aol music on demand....Wow....what can i say.....they just plain suck. I'm sorry to all the Linkin Park fans but I have more talent in my left pinkie.

Now thats just downright UNFACTUAL.

Their music, musically is actually pretty good stuff.

Their lyrics and their vocalist are what is horrible.

Their vocalist sounds like someones constantly grabbing his nuts and he's screaming through a plastic cup. NOT an attractive vocal quality.

Their lyrics, which really only have one emotional range, Teenage Angst, are downright HORRIBLE. I can understand why though, like any act they have to market themselves and they do that very well with the 12-16 age group.

Due to the context of this post your opinion of music has been invalidated.

Have a nice day, and thankyou for shopping massassimart.

I'll have to agree with rob here. All you've done is proven that you're completely incapable of opening your mind to any other kind of art than what very little you already know. You can't expect us to respect your opinion if you present it like that, nor should we respect it.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

I think it's mostly that I just really don't like them. The lyrics are laughably bad. It's amazing that Johnny Cash turned an NIN song into a decent song. He also took out some of the stupid lyrics like "I wear this crown of s***".
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love
2005-03-04, 11:29 PM #53
he took that out? that sucks... your problem is that you are taking the lyrics for that they are worth.. that don't actually mean he is wearing poop on his head.... empire of dirt, and crown of **** are simillies... where he is speaking of, no matter what you do in life... no matter what you build.. none of it matters.... and what are you talking about "stupid lyrics" NIN has some of the best lyrics I have ever heard.

"Don't open your eyes you won't like what you see
The blind have been blessed with security
Don't open your eyes take it from me
I have found
You can find
Happiness is slavery
I don't know what i am i don't know where i've been
Human junk just words and so much skin
Stick my hands through the cage of this endless routine
Just some flesh caught in this big broken machine"

I don't care what you say... that is BAD***!!

you can't tell me that Linkin Park has better Lyrics...

" If I could change I would
Take back the pain I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made I would
If I could
Stand up and take the blame I would
If I could take all the shame to the grave I would"

BTW- Rhyming "Would" with "Would"... BRILLIANT!!

" One minute you're on top
The next you're not
Watch it drop
Making your heart stop
Just before you hit the floor"

" You've become a part of me
You'll always be right here
You've become a part of me
You'll always be my fear"

You'll always be my fear?! come on... that's just dumb

It's not dumb...it's ARTISTIC!

:p

The only thing I've heard by Linkin Park is "Session," which I get the impression doesn't represent them very well. Oh well, I liked Session. Angsty is stupid.

The key to enjoying pop-music is to not take it very seriously. Think about it: The reason it's called pop music is because it's popular. It's popular because most people listening to it don't sit down on and ****ing analyze the **** out of it.

It's 100% possible to enjoy a song/band/genre of music while acknowledging that it's not technically a good/interesting/unique piece of music.

I enjoy listening to linkin' park, it's good stuff to bump out of your car while going for a joy-ride. It's just straight metal, and something you really shouldn't take too seriously. There's plenty of good bands/songs out there that deserve to be analyzed, and LP really isn't one of those. If you can't stand listening to it because it makes your ears burn, then don't. I know when I'm listening to LP I don't really study the lyrics or analyze the song structure. Hell, I don't even know all the words to a single song, but I still listen occasionally. I'm quite sure, though, that if I sat down and tried to find something I know isn't there....I couldn't listen any more. And then I've just alienated a decent piece of noise from my collection.

edited to add that Trent Reznor is god, even if his songs are a little formulaic and layersome (yes, new word!)

Et quand le jour arrive
Je deviendra le ciel
Et je deviendrai la mer

Et la mer viendra pour m'embrasser pour moi
Vais à la maison

Rien peut m'arrêter maintenant

You know Hurt is about drug addiction and turning your back on your friends, right?

The Great Below is my favorite song, BTW.

This is the impression HURT left on me....

the only reason drugs are mentioned in HURT is to tell you, nothing can change the way he feels... nothing can make him happy....

"The needle tears a hole, the old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away, but I remember everything...."

Nothing can ease his pain, he tries drugs, but they don't help....

"What have I become, my sweetest friend?"

he thinks he's a pile of crap... how did he get this way... where did he go wrong?

"everyone I know, goes away in the end"

nothing in this world lasts... everyone you know will die, so what does it matter

"You can have it all, my empire of dirt"

empire of dirt symbolizes his life's work. he says "you can have it all", because it doesn't matter, it will be gone soon after his death.. he is saying his life's work is about as relevent as an empire made of dirt.. in that it will be washed away the next time it starts to rain. (again, nothing lasts... an empire of dirt wouldn't last too long)

"I will let you down, i will make you hurt"

Nothing in this world can be trusted, not even your closest friends.... they will all leave you if they want to or not..... they will all make you hurt (for caring for them).. he is saying.. "I am human... I will do it too.. if I want to or not.. we all die"...

Atleast, that's what makes sense to me

he is basically saying no one can be trusted, and nothing matters.... and it's still a GREAT song...

and yes.. The Great Below is awesome, I really like his use of strings in there... I also like the song's structure.. it has no verse or chorus.. the whole song flows smoothly..

I think my favorite album has to be The Fragile.. he has everything in there.. slow quiet ones with very harmonic notes (The Frail) Not so quiet ones that are still slow and GREATLY harmonic (The Fragile), and faster, more harsh sounding songs.. (The Big Come Down & Somewhat Damaged)

All in all, I think The Downward Spiral is my least favorite album (I know that sounds weird coming from me)

The fragile is my fav album, sooooo much great music. Then the Live CD and the (Still) accompanyment cd are my favs (mostly the bonus cd). Then TDS is my 3rd fav, followed equally by the rest. TDS is good, but it's very angsty and I can only really listen to it when I'm pissed off heh.
