You look so radical.

I don't care what I look like. I may look as goofy with a bass as you look with a gun...

I don't care. It's so much fun to play.

And you barely know how to play guitar. You may look cool with a guitar/bass, but that doesn't make you good. :p

Oh I'm not good or trying to make you think I am good by any means. But, I need to learn 5 songs by the 21st for my friends band. They don't have a bass player and they need someone to perform with them on the 21st.

Static X - The Only
Static X - (Some other song I can't remember)
System of a Down - Suggestions
System of a Down - Sugar
One of our bands own songs.

and a back up song is....
System of a Down - ATWA

So far, the only song that I've had trouble learning is Suggestions, and thats because I can't get used to the quick changes in the song. Other than that I'm not half bad, and I should be ready by the 21st. It's gonna be fun.

It looks like you're using a pick for the bass.

Actually there are plenty of very talented bassists that use a pick.

Woo, elitism!

Good thing for you, mr. SAJN

money•bie, I just wanted to let you know that you are one of my favorite people ever.

Here's a bassist tip that you'd normally just gain from experience and watching really good bassists: the tighter your strap is/the higher your bass sits on your torso, the better you are.

Yeah, I'd say, that's way more radical than SAJN thinking he's cool on his bass.

anyone gains at least +2 to their coolness by equiping an instrument of rock

equiping firearms and camo inside your house tends to only add to crazyredneckness

but judging someone based on 2 pics they posted online is -5 to intelligence and wisdom

Heres a real tip.

Play whatever way is most comfortable to you.

Thost guys with the bass upto their chest look like tools anyways.

Since when does the great Rob care what people think he looks like?
I thought you were some kind of noncomformist emo type guy?

and remember spinning your guitar around your neck makes you a better musician

He's going more for the "I'm a crazy rocker" look than your "I'm going to go shoot up my school" look.

now it's been kinda bugging me... what model bass is that... just guessing it looks like an ibanez GSR100 and it also looks like it's had a pickup upgrade

Everyone knows it's cool to have your bass hanging directly in front of your balls.

Bass balls. Harharharhar.

Thank you. My best friend uses a pick. ANd he rocks. Like... really.

And as far as the positioning of the bass... Do whatever you want, SAJN. Don't listen to these turds trying to tell you to move it up or down. But, move it up, and generally you'll be able to move your fingers on your left hand more quickly and with better accuracy... Move it down and you'll look cooler (by today's rock standards), and your right hand will be able to relax more (which could mean faster fingering for the right hand). Just do whatever you're most comfortable with..

And come on guys.. Just cause it's SAJN doesn't mean we have to pound him into the ground.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.
2005-10-14, 5:52 PM #37
Higher = easier to play on neck, but harder to do things that require right hand techniques
Lower = Look cool, but need monkey arms to play. Or bend over a lot.
Middle = nice balance of both. Plus you won't look like a hardcore wannabe.

Pick = less low frequencies, more high frequencies.
No pick = more lows, less highs.
Condom package = just right.

At least you found a use for those condoms. :p At least they won't go to waste.
2005-10-14, 8:35 PM #39
THATS what I was trying to say.

Its a matter of PREFERENCE.

Personally, I prefer middle, IF and WHEN I ever get to play bass.

My strong point is my my string hand, and when its all up to my bewbies I have a hard time finding a good resting point.

No matter what I'll always have a hard time with fingering on the frets, because of the way my fingers are.

Haha, being a poser does not make you a crazy rocker.

And if I were to shoot up my school, I'd atleast dress in urban camouflage, not woodland. Dumb head.
