By cartooney, i am guessing you mean the yellow square modling of the lower walls? because that is the only texture that strikes me as cartooney.

The floor textures make it. I'm not quite sure if I recall this correctly, but if you were to give the floor a sheen (through a shader, NOT reflective), it'd look even cooler...

omq... pure sexiness... My only complaint is that I'd like to see something done with the ceiling, yes, I know it's teh Chateau...but perhaps we can find something to make teh ceiling less plain...

And I agree with the lower wall texture... needs some bevelling or something

They are all cartoony, save the mural. They lack detail, they are solid colored. It's like a cheap version of cel shading. You can take my word for it and admit that your level isn't as godly as you'd like it to be, or I could get Zuljin to explain why they are cartoony.

theyre cartoony because they are solid color. that's all there is to it. the patterns are good, but the rest sucks (re: textures)

I mean yeah, maybe the molding doesnt look AS 3D AS IT COULD, but since it would be hard to make all of it on that curved surface, im going to have to use a texture.

So please. If you are going to keep saying that its "cartooney" and not make me a texture that looks like the movie and isnt "cartooney" then i think you can just not comment.

I'd like to point out that the textures have quite an adequate of detail. It's just that from a distance like this, you cannot see it. Plus, Cazor is right. There isn't a lot of detail on the walls of the movie Chateau either. Until someone better wants to make textures for it, it's staying like this.

Yeah. Something does need to be done with the textures. I need the GL extensions otherwise I get a 25-30 FPS. The ones you posted look good.

Your reference shots are small, and scaled down. Detail is lost in those. You have to use your imagination a little and figure out what those walls should really look like.

Ceiling is too low. It looks low because of the camera angle in your reference shot, but it's higher than what you have it. Needs new textures as well.

Yeah, well, already the ceiiling is high enough so that you cant hit it even with level 3 force jump. I dont see the point of making it any larger, because (as i have said many times before) this level is MUCH larger than what the location is in the movie. I did that for gameplay purposes.


And by "Needs new textures as well." you mean the ceiling, right? because all the textures everywhere are new.

If you have a SUGGESTION on how to improve the textures, go right ahead. But if you are just going to repeat yourself and ignore what I say, I will not do anything. Capishe?

So how come I could see the detail in the Raven texture he used, from a distance? Try increasing the contrast a little.

PSH! right now three peopel and i can have enough room to fight FFA. its bigger than it seems. and im adding new rooms right now. And since im not going to mess with swinging doors in JO (and i dont want it to go *swoosh* the the side like a SW door) im going to just have invisible portals in front of the doors or maybe triggered by puching the doornobs. Maybe even a random placement thing, like if you chase someone through a door, you end up in the mountains.

I am probably missing something in all this, but somehow I don't see those as "cartoony." You all say that solid colors == bad. I know it was explained to me that a shader needs to be used with the color.

I guess my confusion stems from the fact that in the movie, the walls are relatively a solid color only different shades due to lighting. Yet, you all say that solid colors are bad. Now, would this shader of which y'all speak give the walls a more realistic appearance?

The movie screenshots are a very low resolution. Cazor claims that lack of detail in the textures is due to distance and image resizing, yet I can see the detail in Raven's textures just fine, as can I see the detail in any other texture with distance and resizing.

I'm going to have to point out the obvious here...
The walls in the movie pictures have more detail because they have a heck of alot of weapons on them. These weapons also cast fuzzy shadows onto the wall, which is probably the detail you think is missing from the wall.
if those weapons were not there in the movie it would probably be constant color like Cazors map.

The textures really enhance the look of the level. I WANT TO PLAY IT ON A SERVER.

MP maps that aren't hosted on servers have no value.

I suggest spending time on the parking ramp, and I'm looking at this whole level, and I see absolutelly to light sources. I see light, but where is it comming from? Perhaps it's a glitch in the matrix...

There are windows on the walls of this room that will make light and in the main hall, the skylight and that chandalier will give the light.

I agree. The floor textures just look too bold and un... un-styled? they need to be toned down, maybe add some thinner lines... but I guess that's a job for Thrawn42689 [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]. the pattern itself is good though.
