Thrawn and I are making a Mod to go along with my Chateau level. It's basically going to be a weapons mod with bullet time, and it will include some swords from Chateau and guns from both Matrix movies. Here is a list and a picture of each gun we intend to have in the Mod:

So yeah, We also have bullets working ingame and we are currently working on bullet trails. Any comments or suggestions for the mod would be great. (Any help with editing the code to make the bullet trails work would be greatly appreciated, also)

I take it this will be an SP mod only, with the bullet-time and such, right? Will the mod have skins as well? How do you intend to impliment the sword-combat?

Just curious, not doubting.

Alright.

Bullet time will work in MP (since it will end up just being a bound key for the code "timescale .001) so yeah, bullet time in MP will work. I'm currently searching for someone to do a Neo model and maybe some of the enemies. And for the swords, im going to contact the ninja mod's author and ask him how he got it to work, or just swap models and see if it looks right [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] which i doubt.

Timescale doesn't go lower than 0.1, and to bind it to a key, you have to have cheats enabled, which means people can use give all, god, etc. Sorry chief, but you're gonna have to do more than that.

So wait, in MP, if someone uses bullet-time, will an opponent slow down too? What's going to keep the opponent from taking advantage of the bullet time as well? Lack of control at that point on the opponent's part? Will players be able to use bullet-time whenever they want? Or am I horribly missing something here? (most likely the case).

Most likely everyone will slow down. because frankly i dont want to get any more complicated than that with all the "ok so one guy goes slow but everyone sees him going the same speed but he has an advantage and he seeds them go slow, but then it synchs back up at the end" crap. Everyone will go slow when someone starts it and then they can end it.

And Emon, it wont use cheats. Im sure through coding there is a way to even do it without cheats, or just make that one code is not cheat protected.

Yeah, I think Jenny_Kitty squished it or something when she did that render (she is texturing it) because i dont remember it being that small either. I will make sure she knows to strech it, thanks.

Yeah, I don't think people would like it that their opponents can activate bullet time, any time, and render them helpless.

Although I've been wanting a mod with real bullets for some time now, so maybe follow the same format the original developers did:

-In SP, it slows everything else (like it should)
-In MP you speed up, though you would still need incredible reflexes to dodge bullets

So yeah, my $0.02

Ok, if everyone went into bullet time when someone actives it, it would not render someone helpless, it means that everyone has the same chance of hitting eachother. It truely is the only way of doing MP bullet time if you want to have those uberiffic bullet trails, because then you have to watch things in slow motion. I mean, I thought Dark Fist's approach to it (which is the same as above) was very cool. It was completely fair because when two or three people saw eacother, at least one of them activates bullet time, and you are gonna want it anyways for cool moves and bullet effects.

Oh yes, and all that Bullet-Time is... is a cinematic approach to film making. It's not meant to give anyone an edge over gameplay. It is just to show how freaking fast these people move in comparison to bullets. So realy all the people move the same speed (or relatively the same speed)

Wow. Interesting venture, Cazor. I still feel that this bullet time MP thing isn't going to work out to its full expectations.

Btw would the bullet time increase latency? Is it just a cinematic effect during gameplay?

Not... really. In The Matrix, they show bullet time to yes, show how fast Neo is going, in comparison to the world around him. Neo, because he's fast, is moving faster then everyone else. To show that he's got an edge over the people shooting bullets at him, like weakling cops, etc, they slow everything down. The way to do bullet time is even easier in JO. I'll give you lame-terms version of doing it (Bruaght to you by Emon teaching me how to do it for this thread: http://forums.massassi.net/html/Forum2/HTML/010893.html )

A single player presses a key to move into bullet-time, making everyone 2 times slower then normal. The player that pressed the bullet-time, rather then physically being slowed down only 1.5 times slower, creating unsynced slow mo, you actually speed that player up with faster movements, but not faster bullets, making them physically faster then everyone else, you're just slowing it down so it's possible to see it, and actual reaction times can be showed, rather then just force speed, and it's rediculously fast, and the human player playing the Jedi can't keep up and try to make the Jedi take full advantage of the speed. In a sense, it'd just be Force Speed in slow mo to show reactions.

Oh, and Jenny did distort that, because the model I've got on my HD looks perfectly proportionate. I've also got all of those other swords for the wall in Cheteau Cazor, so if you want those for weapons in-game... that'd look sweet.

In some instances it is known to create lag after 15 minutes of it just being on duging game play, but since it will the toggleable, im not sure yet.

The models all look good, and the concept sounds fun. More weapons - especially some kung-fu abilities - would be nice, but I suppose it isn't meant to be some epic scale mod. Also, everyone slowing down worked perfectly in the Half-Life mod "The Specialists" which I suggest to anyone here who has Half-Life. It was a power-up that lasted 3-5 seconds in that mod though, not something you could just turn on whenever.

Please remember to make the melee weapons useful, it is a common mistake among Matrix mods and alike to render them useless.

Because Neo was trained in how to bend the rules of the Matrix to allow him to move faster then anyone else. It is something you learn, or have. Neo can move at much faster speeds then say... trinity, but the agents are just as fast. The idea, is that someone who uses the ability in JO, is 'Bending The Matrix' and is going faster then anyone else, it's just slowed down so you can see it happening.

Theres a reason why Max Payne was never a multiplayer game...

The bullet-time concept is cool (especially in single player), dont get me wrong, but it's overall functionality and playabilty in multiplayer seems to be lacking a bit.

Granted, say you implemented this in a way that when a player activates BT everybody slows down except for him and other players would need to activate their own to resume the initial speed. So then all the players activate it because they know if they dont, theyre sitting ducks, and then the concept becomes useless. Another factor that needs to be addressed is aiming. In Max Payne, the BT effect didnt give you added speed, it just slowed everything down so that your aiming is less hastened thus more accurate. I'm not to knowledgeable with how far you can mod JO to slow players crosshairs when BT is activated, I suppose its possible, but imagine trying to duel with somebody when a third party player keeps turning BT on and off, frankly it'd get quite annoying. With the Matrix, which is the topic of discussion, the one using BT is supposed to be physically and mentally faster than their opponents, seeing as how there is no possibility for a mod that makes everybody more stupid than you and slows their reactions and thinking process, true Matrix BT is impossible in multiplayer. Maybe I'm missing a detail here or there, but thats how I see it. Yay for singleplayer, nay for multiplayer.

All these bullet time possibilities have been driving me crazy. I'm not fully sure what we will do yet. But, i had one idea where it would go into bullet time when someone shoots a gun and then turn off a second after it hits something. Like i said we are still thinking of ways to make bullet time work but i assure you that it will be fair. (And we can make something that would kick a player if he/she were to toggle a certain command (bullet time) many times in a short period of time... hopefully. Either that or you can play with people you know arent idiots. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

No, dude that is so wrong possting other models in this thread and comparing them. I specifically asked Darth_Kitty to make it for this mod and that is the one we will use. Now please, edit your post or something.
