Looks awesome. The beams on the walls need to be spread apart more, and the color is way off. Here's a pic to prove my point.

I think two of Zully's fine textures would work well here:

The current concrete texture looks dark and repetetive. But in general, that looks freaking incredible. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif]

I agree. The Matrix Reloaded was just a big marketing thing and did not live up to the expectations of the first one. Maybe Revolutions will be better...

Heh.. working on that. I might as well tell you my plan for this level. Its gonna be a large cicular track of the 3 lane freeways you see on the bottom and then there will be those offramps(smaller roads on the top) at certain areas connecting certain parts to other areas. So yeah... Im about halfway done with one of the curves. I should have some screens tomorrow of the entire large track layout.

Hey! I know that freeway! I've used that before! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] No really, I've driven on it. Looks exactly like it archi wise. The skybox need work, and the brigde texs seem kinda repeatitve, and the road a more used feeling. Other then that, it looks so d*** real.

Great so far.

Note to you, and all other editors working on Matrix-themed mods; the Wachowski brothers noted in an interview that every frame of their movies has gone through a filter, making it slightly green. If you watch the movie again, look for the tinge. It is, of course, indicative of the fluro green lettering of binary code.

Thinking of this keeps your levels accurate [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Yeah, a green tint would do wonders. The archi is nice as well, though that skybox blows.

If I can play JO online when I'm at college, I will sure enjoy playing at this level...

Since it'll probably be released for JA, i bet he waits until then and creates a portal sky, making this temporary. Just a guess.

Uh, you realize that the highway used in Reloaded was built specifically for Reloaded, right? That means it was a prop and you never drove over it.

Yeah skybox is just to give off light because im not going to light thing thing by hand (ill give a radiant shot of the entire grid for scale)And yes, green tint will come later with the new skybox. I plan on making one with buildings in the background and another sun that gives off the slightly greenish tint. Okay... yes it is tomorrow... and i didnt lie.

Dude the skybox is clearly temporary. That's like making a Coruscant level with a Yavin skybox and saying, "Dude that skybox needs works."

I don't quite understand why the movie has it green anyway. I've never seen a green highway... Must be their crazy tinting they like.

The movie has a lot of symbolism......green is used a lot to express naivity(sp?), it could have expressed the foolishness of going on the freeway ( hence the comment said to Morpheus "I thought you said going on the freeway was suicide" or something like that).
2003-08-27, 1:15 PM #33
The green tint is used just as a subliminal indication that it is the Matrix. You'll also notice that a lot of things are gridlike in their construction. The real world has a blue tint to it.

Well, this certainly gives new meaning to "go play on the freeway". I guess it's okay, but it kinda seems phony how the traffic would go around in a continuous loop.

It kinda seems that it is the only real way to do it in a video game. I mean you cant just have a continuous lane going on forever. Heck im afraid im gonna break the level size limit with this. But hopefully JA will let me make it big enough. Moral of the paragraph: It needs to be a loop, no one else seems to care, only way i can do it. Once i get offramps in there it will seem less loop-ish, dony worry. and like you will care when you have to dodge cars and are driving into eachother with motorcycles! bah, it would only have to look like it was going on forever, just put an invisible barrier, at the end, or an invisible barrier with police cars in front of it...... if you insist on making it go in a loop, at least make it have some variety and not just take left turns or vise versa the whole time.
2003-08-27, 2:06 PM #36
And so how would i make cars constantly drive on the road? would they dissapear into the cop cars then spawn back at the front? Belive me when i say i have put far more thought into this map than anyone else has, i sorta know what im doing. It will work out, dont worry.

For the moving cars, can't you just have the car model with a trigger_hurt brush, and an origin brush, and make the whole thing a train, then add the paths in a loop?

Anyways, looks AWESOME. Too bad my JO MP disk is scratched.
DO NOT WANT.

[jedikirby]ACTUALLY, you could employ my revolutionary technique of using func_trains and path_corners to allow any and all car models to travel around bends to areas the player cannot see, then have them go under the map and re-appear at the beginning, at a place the player cannot see, and travel onto the freeway and then exit again[/jedikirby]

Just kidding.

But seriously, I think this technique would work better... well, it wouldn't work as well, but it would look better...

Because if you have the vehicle models func_rotating it around a circular track, their midsections will be correct, but the fronts and ends won't be travelling exactly straight... hard to explain.

So i reccomend a straight(or slightly curved) track with func trains like I mentioned above.
