He was kidding. He problably did it with Terragen. Not neccessarily a peice of cake, mind you, but still a far cry from placing each vertex by hand...

No GBK, that's quite possible to do by hand, but it would take quite a while. You simply select each vertice and drag it up to the level you want.

No, I wasn't kidding. Terragen isn't accurate enough for this. I know of no other way to do it (actually, that's not true, I do know another way, but it creates unneccessary surfaces). It's very time consuming to do mountains this way. The rest of the terrain for the level should go fairly quickly (if I can pull myself away from constantly tweaking the mountains). Where can I find the flicker cog? And for that matter, any other of GBK's cogs? (looked for a link to his site, searched cog forum, no luck)

You could e-mail him. The flicker cog can be searched in the main editing forum (and probably even the cog forum I would suspect).

I still need some responses to my early question:

"While I'm here, I would like to poll for anyone who has a video card with less then 32MB of memory. With one of the texturing methods we're considering for the terrain, it'll put a strain on the video memory."

I know someone out there has a video card with less then 32MB of memory. speak now or forever hold your peace. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

My server runs an old 8mb ATI card. But then, its a server.... My second vid card on my main box is, AFAIR, 8mb. But I use it purely for 2d stuff, so thats not an issue...

Tazz, if you want any of my cogs, email me....
