P.S: I agree with cazor. When you get a mapper criting about another map, that looks some what lower in detail (Like..........REALLY low), they feel like people are abusing JKA. Fix up your level some more. More detail, archetexture, hell, even textures for that white room because you can always give time, but you cant take time away. To make the desert look like desert, it should have dunes. It shouldn't be a flat surface. Like Thrawn42689 suggest, use GenSurf to generate terrain. To make dunes, make patch meshes and with manipulating vertices make it look like a dune. Put many dunes to your level, and make them look different.

If you are using GTK Radiant, you already have it.

Go to plugins | gtk gensurf.

Here is a list of siz possible wall angles, for your desert you'll want floor.

Look at the preview, and change the vlaues and stuff around in here until you get a desert looking thing... I can't give more speicifc instrucyions, my GTK Radiant won't start at the moment...

I think people suggested him to add detail - haven't seen much updates with detail. We suggested him to get TIE fighter racks, other textures, terrain - have you seen any of those yet?

It seems to me that most of the gameplay is coming from the vehicles, seeing as the main part of this level is a big box. I suggest again that you add terrain, lighting, and other such things to spice it up. Remove the bedroom, as it doesn't fit at all. Remember that this doesn't have to be all vehicular combat. Add some stuff for the foot soldiers to do. Or at least for ground vehicles.

it does have stuff for foot soldiers. it has all the weapons, including melee in each base. im trying to figure out a way to make it so that when you play the level, debugmelee will be on too. you can also get all of the items, cloak for snipers, portable e-web, etc.. also, there is a speeder bike that is VERY fast, and the s-type swoop, and an at-st in each hanger(with a lift to get them out with).

A bit more detailed screenie summary for hatchyack then:

s1: I see 2 turbolasers, a mountable gun, WOW A CURVE, another brush and a skybox. This screams out for detail, really.

s2: I can't even judge which way you're flying.

s3: Ehh.. Could you either add real terrain, or good-looking textures? Really, this is way too plain.

s4: A brush with a bland texture, a vehicle and a skybox. Hurray? :/

s5: No detail. No detail at all. Vedder (ZOOIkes) gave you some really good suggestions, I would consider, like, listening to those.

s6: See s5.

The level looks like work done in JK with some 16 bit textures. Concept is good tho.

1: You need actual terrain, not just a flat surface with a sand texture. I have NEVER seen a desert like that.

2: Put some mountains around the edges, or SOMETHING. it looks horrible having terrain cut to a skybox with nothing in between

3: Put more... stuff in. cool little doodads. like a krayt skeleton, busted sandcrawler, some tatooine-ish houses, etc. don't just leave it as an empty desert with two bases, that's just boring.

4: touch up the bases a LOT. make them look like actual bases.

hmm.. Good ideas! I like the way you think, mr. moo cow...
how would i put a krayt skeleton in? is it an existing model or would i need to make it from scratch? same with the sand crawler.., i was kinda thinking the level would be on sort of a plateau.. see how everthing else in the skybox is fairly flat?.. how would i add those thngs, no trees tho..

i tried using terragen, but it saves the heightmaps in some funky file format, and not a bmp file. also, it doesnt include water in the heightmaps, and the best way to create realistic looking dunes in terragen is using the water and making it look solid and sand colored, so it looks like waves of sand..

...Not the way I did it. I made my heightmap, took a screenshot of my desktop with Terragen open, vropped the part with the heightmap the best I could, and opened it in EasyGen.
