Ah yes, that explains the "missing" light.
For the EFX, it'll take some tweaking, but you can rig the particles so they fall down and to the side (use relative positioning and target the fx_runner to a target). Be sure it accelerates due to gravity and doesn't just fall. It's easy to look at a real waterfall and tell that the water at the top is moving much slower than it is at the bottom, and water that moves at uniform speeds in game is always just soo fake looking. Also I'd suggest using a custom texture for the water, perhaps modify an existing one and fade away the edges a bit with an airbrush (make it a noisy brush to simulate mist), because the water would probably break up a little around the edges.
I also think you should try to make the crystals less uniform and more natural looking. Vary the height, width and shape, etc.
You should also put dynamic glow on any glowy stuff. Maybe Raven's next patch, if there is one, will make it no super slow.
Edit: Okay, this post showed up after your new ones.
I suggest you make the water more translucent. Right now it looks like it's glowing.
And are the lightsyles gone perminantly? I hope not, they're rather underused...
