Nice work!

But it seems to produce invalid 3DO´s, judging by the 3DO posted in CaveDemons post (haven´t been able to download the program myself yet). The third vertex of every surface references texture vertex 3 when there is only 1 defined. Just thought I´d let you know.

[edit]Oh, and it´s missing the face normals but I´am pretty sure you already knew that.[/edit]

i dunno, it wont work here. i tried with bmps added to it.. and i get same error as CaveDemon. Also, you will need to add layer saving so we can handle bigger terain in one file.

I get a good copy. Look. I have to set UV scales to 1 but it works for me.

NOTE: The 3d Preview model is a result of the same heightmap resized to 16x16. I had to do this because Jed wouldn't load such a large model in the preview (it would lock up). The wireframe view is the original model I got, however.

I had no problem with the program. I don't know. May have something to do with the VB libraries, or changes in the code between OS's.

What I did was cleaved along the surface edges in jed to break it up into different meshes. But it would be handy if it did it automaticly.

CaveDemon - I can only seem to manage to download 250k of your 3do... but I see the problem. In the vertex definition instead of writing a decimal point yours writes a comma. I cant imagine why. It must be a difference in vb runtime versions or something. I will google see if anyone else has had this sort of experience.

Cavey could you please try this version... I am trying a different type of outputting.

Edit: Download latest version at top at thread.

I dont know if it will work, I cant find anything about other people having this problem.

Sounds like crazy Finnish number formatting on his computer is doing that (only Finns have had problems, correct?). Windows or VB or something must be looking to the regional settings for the character, it should work if you explicity specify the character. Like (char)##, whatever that is in VB.

Surely it has to be some way to override the decimal separator in VB?
In Delphi you would set the global variable DecimalSeparator to '.' to ensure that your floats is printed the same regardless of the users "regional options".

Search Google Groups for "change decimal separator vb", lots of hits.

Yes, but I´am sure you run with a finish locale settings. Same as me, I run an english Windows using the swedish locale setting.

Okay, the truth is that I made the 3do's, since Cavey asked me to. First I tried to make the 3do with the 64x64 resolution, and I wasn't able to load it... but for 32x32 resolution it works just fine.

Google it and download it. It's a DLL used in toolbars.

Because when it compiles programs it puts a text box at the beginning of them warning that it was compiled with the Educational version of Visuall C++ and is illegal to distribute.

Hellcat, you could always look for a freeware C++ compiler. Dev-C++ is a freeware IDE that uses the popular freeware mingw compiler (if that means anything to you [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]).

Zookies, I'd go for the one with the most recent date.

Works great now. The face normal section is still missing but JED seems to ignore that section anyway, so I guess it doesn´t really matter.

I used to use dev, but after I started using VC++ I have never turned back [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Hellcat, I'm getting the 'COMDLG32.OCX outdated' error with ver 0.3. I'm using XP, so it seems strange that I'd get the 'outdated' error, trying ver 0.2.

If I could make one suggestion for future versions, it would be to have the proggie chop up the terrain into pieces that JK can handle.

Can't wait to get a version that works for me -- this is cool.

hmm, thats strange. Do you have the home or proffesional version of XP?

I will hopefully implement chopping up the terrain into correct sizes to cut down on the amount of work required.

Hellcat, I'm using WinXP Pro. I think I have an old COMDLG32.OCX too. I don't know why I have an old one with XP, but it might be wise to include it in the future.

Does anyone have a COMDLG32.OCX that works with XP Pro?
